What kind of performance would it be, exactly?
At the judges’ table, their eyes lit up. Though not explicitly mentioned, the judges compare the growth of Pokemon to the average standards of similar Pokemon. Pokemon which has been raised outstandingly naturally exude a unique charm.
Beautifly was precisely such a Pokemon.
Onstage, under the gaze of countless eyes, Terrance took a deep breath, intending to have Beautifly execute “that combo.”
“Beautifly, use Gust—”
Upon receiving the command, the gracefully hovering Beautifly emitted a soft hum in midair. With a graceful motion of its beautiful wings, Beautifly danced slowly, its wings showcasing a colorful and mesmerizing rhythm as they unfurled. Though the breeze was gentle, the audience could discern the gradually forming currents in the air.
“Such incredible control. I feel like the wind is taking shape on the stage. What could it be?!!” Marian exclaimed.
Shape, or rather, a subtle structure, was clearer to Marian, who was closer than the audience.
“Well, then I’ll let you see it clearly,” Terrance said with a faint smile.
“Beautifly, lie down and use String Shot.”
Upon hearing the command, Beautifly, with its wings fluttering, tilted its body to the side. It appeared as if its entire body lay flat in the air. Its wings continued to stretch, but simultaneously, Beautifly’s long, needle-like mouth curled up into a round shape, releasing strands of white silk. Like a fountain, these strands scattered into the air.
As its colorful wings danced, the pure white silk shot into the air. Beautifly swayed its round head and the silk continued to increase…
“Oh—” Marian gasped in surprise. “The silk seems to be moving with the airflow!!”
Initially, the upward-spraying silk resembled silver chains hanging in the sky, akin to a fountain or a beautiful blooming flower. However, after following Marian’s directions, the audience astonishingly realized that the spat out silk didn’t fall; instead, it fluttered continuously with the invisible currents, and eventually, guided by a certain rhythm, it began to form a spiral.
“This is… Whirlpool!!”
After the quantity of silk strands reached a certain threshold, the general shape was finally discernible to people. Above Beautifly, a massive white vortex churned incessantly. Air currents revolved swiftly around the axis of the vortex, drawn by the significantly reduced pressure at its center. From all sides beneath Beautifly’s body, airflow was sucked into the bottom of the vortex, just above the stage’s surface.
“Wow… amazing,” Marian exclaimed.
The audience seats, judges’ table, the lobby—everyone focusing on this performance was captivated by the colossal white Whirlpool. At this moment, all eyes were on Beautifly who was beneath the Whirlpool!
“Is it not over yet?” someone wondered.
Beautifly continued to spit out silk, which was connected to its long mouth, causing the enormous white Whirlpool to look as if it was connected to Beautifly. Lying flat in the air, Beautifly, relying solely on its tiny body, raised the Whirlpool that kept accelerating and radiating a milky-white halo. The scene was incredibly stunning.
Zzzz! Zzzz!
Just as everyone admired Beautifly’s control over String Shot and Gust, electric currents merged into the silk, causing the white color on top to gradually change, shining with a golden light. As the zaps accelerated sharply, in that moment, everyone watching the performance seemed to hear the chirps of thousands of bird Pokémon.
“Electroweb—”
As the golden currents spread gradually from the bottom, the entire audience was collectively taken aback.
“It’s… changing color!!” Marian exclaimed in astonishment.
The conservative estimate of the silk forming the Whirlpool was several kilometers long. This silk, created by Beautifly expending significant stamina and energy, covered nearly half the stage. The constant frequency of its rotation even slightly unnerved the judges.
“Could it be the Electroweb move?” Sitting among the judges’ panel, Nurse Joy’s eyes were slightly curious.

On the continually spinning Whirlpool, golden currents flowed, emitting a dazzling, scorching light. It was as if the whirlpool was inlaid with a layer of gold, resembling the sparkling ripples on a golden ocean, a sight of incomparable beauty.
“So beautiful!” A child in the audience involuntarily exclaimed.
In the lobby, Abby gazed at the radiant Beautifly on the stage, speechless for a moment. Everything was perfect—whether it was the combo of moves or their execution or how the Beautifly was raised, it exuded the essence of a Top Coordinator.
“Amazing.” James’ mouth slightly opened wide. Sensing the change in the atmosphere. He understood that Terrance had done something extraordinary.
“This is… Electric Whirlpool!” Marian shouted with excitement. “As everyone knows, Whirlpool is a Water-type move!!”
“But Contestant Terrance, using the combo of three moves, Gust, String Shot, and Electroweb, has shown us a unique Whirlpool!! It’s absolutely beautiful!”
“It’s hard to believe that Contestant Terrance is participating in a Pokémon Contest for the first time!!!”
