PC Chapter 30 Seviper

“Counterattack! Astonish!”

Swablu soared with a sharp Growl, causing Lotad to raise its body and slightly take a step back, revealing an uncomfortable expression.

However, it was apparent that Astonish Move’s effectiveness was not significant. Lotad was clearly overcoming the fear with strong determination. The fear only lasted for an instant as Swablu also had to cancel the move due to the strain on its throat.

“Now, seize this opportunity, Natural Gift!”

With a buzzing sound, a silver ripple emerged from the sharp Growl, creating silver ripples that transformed into a silver blade flying towards Lotad. This was Swablu’s Flying-type Natural Gift, a special result brought by Terrance’s processed Lum Berry. Swablu used Growl as the medium, releasing this move in the form of sound waves.

The swift surge of silver light, unleashed abruptly from Swablu’s mouth, startled Lotad. Faced with the imminent threat, Lotad didn’t show weakness and tapped into the surrounding power of nature. Glimmering green light instantly condensed, forming a small green orb which hurtled towards Swablu.

Harnessing the power of nature, this technique was akin to Natural Gift, albeit even more simple, swift, and efficient. It was a pity that Swablu couldn’t learn this move.

The battle was taking place in an area surrounded by lush grass and abundant trees. In some spots, dense patches of vegetation grew. In such an environment, Lotad effortlessly tapped into the energy of the plants and foliage. Though relatively weak, it could indeed cause damage.

The collision between the small green orb and the silver blade resulted in a faint explosive sound, accompanied by a recoil force that sent both little creatures flying.

Swablu, caught in the incoming airflow, lost its stability and was blown into the air, looking quite disheveled.

Lotad also wasn’t as lucky. Since it had used the move late, most of the energy unleashed by the collision exploded near Lotad, and the recoil force pushed the small Lotad away.

Seeing this scene, Terrance was ready with a Potion. The battle had reached this point, and it was time for him to intervene and help the Pokémon overcome the aftermath of the fight.

“Swablu, Lotad, are you okay?” Terrance hurriedly approached and checked on the two Pokémon. Fortunately, they didn’t sustain significant injuries, especially Swablu, who wasn’t born too long ago and had a delicate body that couldn’t afford to be injured easily.

Fortunately, the battle ended in a timely manner. The strength of the two Pokémon was not formidable, and the aftermath of the battle didn’t cause much harm. Aside from excessive exhaustion and minor scratches, there were no serious injuries. After Terrance attended to them, the two little Pokémon quickly became full of energy.

“How do you feel about this battle?” Swablu landed on Terrance’s head. Hearing his question, it seemed unsure on how to answer, as if it was dissatisfied with its performance.

“Haha… Just keep trying your best. Let’s thank Lotad first.” Terrance smiled and gently stroked Swablu. He then expressed his gratitude to Lotad and began fulfilling his promise to find a water source with it.

Terrance knew of three nearby lakes that were suitable for Lotad to temporarily stay. They chose the closest one, which wasn’t far away. After walking for a short while, they arrived near the lake. Once they crossed the grassy thicket in front of them, they would be able to see the lake.

However, at that moment, Terrance’s peripheral vision caught a glimpse of a flash of red light, causing his heart to skip a beat as he inwardly exclaimed, “Oh no!”

He quickly called out to Lotad and came to a halt. However, just as Terrance stopped, he saw a figure emerging from the opposite bushes, staring at them with an unfriendly gaze.

“…Seviper!”

A startled exclamation escaped Terrance’s lips as he silently cursed his unfortunate luck. He knew that encountering a Seviper was not a good situation, as they were often highly aggressive and posed a strong threat.

“Run!” Terrance shouted directly at Swablu and Lotad, who were still stunned.

And at that moment, the two Pokémon also snapped out of it. They glanced at Seviper, who was brandishing its sharp tail and approaching them with malicious intent. Without hesitation, they immediately turned around and ran.

Meanwhile, Lotad also tried to stop Seviper by launching a Bubble Beam.

Swablu, upon seeing Lotad’s action, also wanted to help by using its sharp Growl to intimidate Seviper.

However, their efforts to resist didn’t stir even the slightest reaction in Seviper’s heart…

With a mere swing of its poisonous tail, the Bubble Beam move was easily dispersed, having no effect whatsoever.

As for “Astonish,” it didn’t manage to elicit even the slightest reaction from Seviper, who remained completely unfazed.

“Thud!”

Just as Seviper was mocking the two Pokémon, a stone forcefully hit its head, momentarily stunning it.

“Quick, run! Don’t provoke it…” Dusting off his hands, Terrance shouted, lacking any awareness of what he had just done.

There was likely a significant disparity in their levels…..

The two Pokémon and Terrance hastily fled. While scattering snake repelling powder along the way, Terrance couldn’t help but wear a wry smile.

Seviper’s sharp tail, dripping with poisonous venom, made Terrance abandon the idea of engaging in a battle against it by just relying on both Pokémon and his human intellect.

Terrance didn’t want to risk any contact with Seviper’s venom in the wilderness, not even a tiny bit. Therefore, running away was the best choice for now.

“Perhaps I should prepare some traps for situations like this?” Terrance contemplated while running.

Although Seviper’s strength was undoubtedly much greater than Swablu’s, if a large pit was dug to make it fall into it, followed by bombarding it with rocks and Swablu’s Natural Gift, maybe they could deal with it?

As he thought about how to deal with Seviper, Terrance suddenly recalled scenes from the anime he had watched in his past life.

To be honest, for Terrance, a transmigrator, the anime “Pokémon” was just something he watched casually once during his childhood. It was a nostalgic memory from his childhood, and he never delved deeply into it. He only remembered a few important characters, forgetting or ignoring the rest. As for the plot, his recollection was limited to a few iconic scenes and some particularly memorable moments.

Flaws exist in anime.

After experiencing the real world and blending into it, Terrance eventually chose not to believe those  illogical elements that were exaggerated for the sake of entertainment in the anime. Instead, he treated this world as an unfamiliar place and learned bit by bit. In fact, through his own exploration, Terrance discovered many things that previously couldn’t be explained in the anime.

Only through deeper understanding did Terrance realize that this world was not just a small story revolving around the original work.

Everyone had their own way of life, their own dreams. The stories told in the anime were too monotonous for a real world.

“I hope it didn’t catch up with us.”

Gasping for breath, Terrance and the two Pokémon stopped running.

Indeed, the snake repelling powder prepared in advance worked.  It seemed that the unpleasant odor was too much for Seviper to bear, compelling it to retreat.

“Chirp~” Swablu let out a dissatisfied chirp, feeling a bit down.

“Don’t worry, you will get stronger too. It won’t even take a month before you can defeat it.” Terrance comforted the melancholic little fellow and smiled helplessly.

Lotad also chimed in, joining him in comforting Swablu. To Lotad, escaping wasn’t a sign of fear but rather avoiding a meaningless battle. Swablu had just hatched and didn’t possess the same experience of surviving in the wild as Lotad did.

To prevent another encounter with Seviper, Terrance applied a bit of snake repelling powder to his clothes. Then, leading Lotad, he changed direction to search for another lake. And so, the sound of rustling through the forest’s thickets echoed once again.
