OPTM-Chapter 233 Searching Part 2

Dante curiously glanced at the photo and thought to himself. ‘An old blind man, or an old gambler. He doesn’t have any special background. What’s so remarkable about him that Vice Admiral Rowen, who is now at the height of his fame, is going all out to find him, arranging a secret mission, and even issuing a severe warning of military punishment if he is disturbed!’

“Why are you looking for him,” Dante asked.

To this question, Rowen’s lips curled up slightly as he spoke. “You’ll find out soon… very soon…”

Faced with Rowen’s expression, Dante couldn’t help but shiver.

The last time he had seen this expression, the Pucci Pirate United Army was annihilated, and Crocodile was defeated.

The time before that, Dressrosa exploded, and Doflamingo almost turned into a roasted turkey.

And now, he saw that expression again…

“Who’s going to be unlucky this time?”

Dante sighed inwardly as he flipped through the files and tossed out an Eternal Pose, saying, “The location is here. There’s no Eternal Pose in the warehouse, so you’ll need to go to Gat Island first and then use the Log Pose to navigate there. If you go early, you should still be able to find him.”

“Alright, it’s great to have you, Dante!!”

Rowen was quite at ease as he patted Dante’s shoulder. As soon as he finished speaking, he disappeared from the spot.

Bang Rumble!!

The thunderous sound of thunder echoed as blue electrical currents swiftly zipped through the clouds, vanishing into the horizon in the blink of an eye.

Regarding this outcome, Dante claimed that his heart was entirely calm and even…

“Wait! You’re still under house arrest, Vice Admiral!! The government’s prosecutor will be here in the afternoon!”

In an instant, the expression on Dante’s face changed drastically, and he rushed to the window, shouting angrily at the sky.

“Just tell them I’m seriously ill and not receiving any guests at the moment. Let them finish their investigation and get them out of my base!”

Rowen’s voice seemed to linger in the wind as it passed by.

Dante: “…”

Seriously ill?

Are you F*cking kidding me right now!!!

Rowen had previously held some hope, thinking that Miss Bakkin might not have found Edward Weevil yet. After all, they didn’t look like mother and son; they seemed more like Sister Carmel and Charlotte Linlin kind of relationship.

However, Shakky’s investigation data shattered his hopes. Miss Bakkin had already been associated with Edward Weevil for an unknown period of time. Many pieces of information indicated that there was a woman behind Edward Weevil’s rise to fame, but her name was unknown.

With that ambitious old woman around, it was a done deal that Edward Weevil would become a Shichibukai. The power and convenience that being a Shichibukai brought were indispensable for her to achieve her ambitions. Even “Blackbeard” Teach couldn’t resist the temptation.

Considering the cunningness of Sengoku and Miss Bakkin, along with the constraints of their respective positions, Rowen believed he had no reason and no chance to kill Edward Weevil.

Unless he wanted to follow the same path as Zephyr in the original storyline, betraying the Marines after killing Weevil.

However, with the current state of affairs, where he had thrown everything into disorder, Zephyr would rather endure injustice than lead his beloved disciples in defection. Rowen had to think of another way.

For example, he can plan to kill Miss Bakkin.

Without Miss Bakkin, and considering Edward Weevil’s intelligence, Rowen could easily deceive him into coming to the G-10 Marine Base and have him working there, paying him and even thanking him!

Of course, this was the lowest level of strategy, and how to quietly kill Miss Bakkin under Edward Weevil’s protection was a problem that required careful planning.

And then there was the second option…

Killing with a borrowed blade!

Rowen happened to know of a particular blade that was sharp enough and bore a deep grudge…

Gat Island was an unremarkable small island that didn’t exist on any of the seven main routes. Its residents were mostly self-sufficient and enjoyed a simple life.

The ‘Zipper Thunder’ technique came to a stop in the distant sky of Gat Island, and then Rowen blinked onto the island. He observed the local residents, dressed in simple and ragged clothing, strolling along the streets, feeling a sense of wonder.

Half a month ago, he was experiencing winter in Kano Country, and now half a month later, he was experiencing summer on Gat Island, with an almost 40-degree temperature difference between the two locations. The climate of the One Piece world was truly magical!

Luckily, the G-10 Marine Branch was also a summer island, so Rowen felt comfortable wearing a suit.

He folded his cloak and hid it behind a tree. After all, he was under house arrest, so he needed to avoid drawing attention while being on Gat Island.

The simple and crude thatched huts on both sides of the streets indicated that this was a poor island. It was rare to see someone well-dressed among the passersby; most of the residents seemed quite impoverished.

A young girl passed by, wearing a faded dress that looked like it might have been her mother’s when she was a child.

In such an environment, Rowen, in his tall and imposing stature, walking through the streets in a suit, appeared like a modern person who had suddenly traveled back in time. His every move attracted attention and stood out conspicuously.

“This doesn’t make sense. How can there not be a single fishing boat? Do I have to fly over?”

Activating his Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki), Rowen immediately sensed something amiss.

An island that relied on fishing and agriculture for self-sufficiency should have fishing boats. However, when Rowen used his Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) to survey the area, he was astonished to find that there wasn’t a single fishing boat in sight.

Instead, he saw groups of able-bodied men hiding indoors, while the streets were crowded with elderly, children, and women.

“Hmm…! It seems I’ve found a reason for Issho’s appearance on Navi Island.”
