IUD-Chapter 380 Killed Torch

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

At this moment, the world in Fang Li’s sight had completely transformed.

It turned into a fragmented world, marked by uneven Death Lines as if it had been hastily patched together into a worn-out landscape.

Each person passing by Fang Li had Death Lines that crisscrossed all over their bodies, making them appear as if they were falling apart.

The lines on their necks threatened to sever their heads.

The lines on their chests risked cleaving their torsos.

The lines on their arms…

The lines on their thighs…

The lines on their abdomens…

The lines along their spines…

These lines adorned each person, filling this world entirely with “Death.”

Fang Li had long grown accustomed to such a world.

Even without familiarity, the countless deaths etched into his soul made him numb to the point where he could not muster any emotions regarding the end of these entities.

So, with his pair of Mystic Eyes that could stare directly into death, Fang Li gazed upon the Torch entities, one by one.

In the bodies of these surrogates, lines covered them densely, akin to a thick web. Among them, those Torches with Power of Existence within their bodies growing exceedingly weak, near the brink of extinguishing, were the most abundant. It appeared as though a mere touch from Fang Li might snuff out their flames.

This proved that these Torches were on the brink of actual “Death.”

However, it was surprising to see so many of these Torches, teetering at the precipice of “Death,” among the people who continuously brushed past Fang Li.

What did this imply?

“In Misaki City, there must be a ‘Denizen’ with an insatiable appetite, right?”

This situation gradually jogged Fang Li’s memory regarding some of the original plot.

“So that’s how it is…”

Fang Li, with his Mystic Eyes unflinchingly gazing into death, focused on one Torch ahead.

The Torch was walking slowly in Fang Li’s direction, its head bowed, and its pupils long since glazed over. Its presence had grown extremely faint, to the extent that even the people around it had entirely failed to notice its existence.

This Torch’s soul flame had dwindled to a mere flicker, much like a candle about to be extinguished. Once that wisp of flame disappeared, it would signify the demise of its own existence.

At that point, he would be forgotten by everyone.

This being said, Torches, at their core, were merely surrogates, the remnants of the Power of Existence. Their original beings had long been devoured.

So, this entity was just barely clinging to life, was it not?

“A truly pitiful existence…”

While Fang Li uttered these words, his expression remained unchanged, an icy calm that sent shivers down one’s spine.

After all, when confronted with “Death,” Fang Li was the most indifferent.

So, Fang Li quickened his pace, moving toward that Torch.

Just as the Torch brushed past Fang Li, Fang Li’s ice-blue Mystic Eyes flickered, and in his hand suddenly appeared a crescent-shaped dagger. Moving at speeds imperceptible to the naked eye, like a flash of light, it sliced through the Torch’s body.

“——”

The Torch’s steps came to a halt.

Fang Li, however, continued to walk as casually as if he were strolling through a park.

In the next moment, the faint, azure flames within the Torches’ bodies seemed to be extinguished abruptly.

“Bang—!”

The entire body of the Torch suddenly ignited in blue flames, like a candle burned down to ashes, vanishing on the spot.

In this split second, Fang Li had ended its life.

He terminated the remnants of Power of Existence within its body, effectively shortening the Torch’s existence to zero, causing it to vanish without a trace.

This spectacle should have been visible to those around him.

However, none of the people paid any attention to this phenomenon, it was as if they hadn’t seen it at all, and they continued to move about casually.

Fang Li, too, turned away from the scene and carried on.

Ahead of him, another Torch was walking listlessly, its Power of Existence on the verge of being snuffed out.

This place was a sealed and dimly lit space.

While it was quite spacious, it lacked any furnishings or decor, appearing completely empty.

Yet, within this space, there were two elements.

One was a large courtyard-style bonsai positioned in the center, crafted from toy dividers and model components, precisely replicating a panoramic view of the entire Misaki City.

The other element was the Dolls.

Dolls of various sizes, donned in various outfits, with wide, round eyes. Some were in tatters, while others remained in pristine condition, encircling the entire space and leaning against the walls.

In the center, the large courtyard-style bonsai emitted a faint glow, casting an eerie light on the faces of these Dolls.

It was safe to say that nobody would want to stay in such an environment, equivalent to a haunted house.

However, at this moment, an inquisitive voice resounded within this eerie space.

“What’s going on?”

It was a voice that exuded elegance but also conveyed an unsettling undertone.

Accompanying this voice, a tall, well-dressed man with an air of aristocracy suddenly appeared before the bonsai. He floated in mid-air, accompanied by a long fabric that floated around his body in the same manner.

The man lowered his gaze to the scenery in front of him.

Within this extensive courtyard-style bonsai, modeling the panoramic view of Misaki City, there was a dummy engulfed in flames like will-o’-the-wisps.

At this moment, one of the dummies within suddenly disappeared for no apparent reason.

Observing this scene, the man furrowed his handsome brow, muttering under his breath, “Why did the Torch I set suddenly vanish?”

Someone provided an answer to his question.

“Master.”

Surprisingly, the voice emerged from a Doll that the man was cradling in his arms.

A Doll-like Doll.

The Doll’s mouth remained unmoving, yet it transmitted the voice from within.

“Aren’t Torches supposed to burn out eventually?”

So, the disappearance of a Torch was not unexpected.

There was only one peculiar aspect.

“Ah, my dear Marianne.” The man immediately eased the tension in his brow, his expression becoming infatuated. As he lovingly stroked the Doll in his arms, he explained in a gentle, low tone, “The sudden disappearance of that Torch isn’t ordinary. Given that Torch’s Power of Existence, it should have lasted two or three more days.”

“So, in other words…” Marianne expressed her concern, “Someone deliberately sabotaged the Torch?”

“Exactly,” The man reassured her, “Don’t worry, my dear Marianne. I will have the servants investigate thoroughly.”

With these words, the man snapped his fingers.

Suddenly, several eerie Dolls surrounding him illuminated their eyes.
