IUD-Chapter 379 Adjacent World Which Cannot Be Reached

**Misaki City**.

It was a city of considerable size within the county, well-known for its unique scenery.

One distinctive feature of this city was its exceptionally well-organized layout.

Running through the city from north to south was a river, known as the **Mana River**.

To the east of the river was the bustling commercial district, abuzz with the city’s functions.

To the west of the river lay a residential area filled with mansions.

Connecting the two districts, from east to west, was an imposing steel bridge, known as the **Misaki Bridge**.

Fang Li couldn’t help but squint his eyes as he looked towards the *Misaki Bridge*, as the sun was positioned directly at the other end of the bridge, casting blinding rays of sunlight. He raised his hand to shield his eyes from the intense glare, allowing his vision to adjust.

It was early morning. The sun had just risen over the eastern horizon, illuminating the entirety of Misaki Bridge and making the Mana River glisten and shimmer, creating a dazzling spectacle.

This sight alone validated the city’s reputation for its unique and picturesque setting.

“Have I truly arrived in the world of ‘Shakugan no Shana (Burning-Eyed Shana)’?” Fang Li muttered to himself.

His feelings were not baseless; they were a result of the radiant, faint glow of the *Reiji Maigo (Midnight Lost Child)*, which he had equipped as Virtual Equipment on his accessory slot. It was as if he had returned to his place of origin, and this feeling was directly conveyed to Fang Li himself.

Therefore, Fang Li couldn’t help but entertain this notion.

Carrying this sensation, Fang Li continued his stride, moving forward at a steady pace.

The early morning in Misaki City was peaceful, particularly within the residential area. People were seen walking in and out of their homes, and though the number of pedestrians wasn’t insignificant, the atmosphere was far from boisterous.

Among this population were women with woven baskets or bags, ready to purchase groceries for their households. White-collar workers in suits with briefcases were hurrying to their workplaces, while some residents in casual attire were setting out for their morning jogs.

Students dressed in school uniforms with backpacks were on their way to their educational institutions.

These diverse individuals either emerged from or entered the many residences, creating a scene of constant motion and vitality.

As Fang Li strolled along the main road, his gaze was intently fixed on the bodies of these individuals, their presence reflecting a captivating radiance.

Perhaps, among the flow of people here, only Fang Li could perceive it?

He could see those fiery flames, the Enpatsu Shakugan.

Misaki City was indeed a unique and wondrous place, and Fang Li was about to embark on an extraordinary journey within this world.

These were flames of an eerie, ghostly blue hue that appeared devoid of any warmth.

The flames varied in intensity, some burning fiercely while others flickered weakly, resembling lit candles, slowly dancing and burning.

However, the peculiarity of these flames did not lie in their color but in their existence.

All of them resided within people’s bodies.

Not everyone possessed these flames.

Yet, among the people who passed by Fang Li, a significant number bore these flames within their bodies.

These people came in two categories: those whose inner flames burned brightly, and those whose flames had grown exceedingly faint.

Gazing at these flames, Fang Li murmured to himself, “Are these Torches?”

Fang Li was aware that all of these individuals with flames within them had already died.

Yes.

They were deceased.

Victims of entities from another world.

Yes, another world.

On the other side of this world existed an “Adjacent World, which cannot be reached by the present world,” a “Bright Red World,” known as the “Crimson Realm.”

Naturally, ordinary humans could not access that world, nor did anyone venture there.

Yet, the Crimson Realm teemed with life.

The inhabitants of that world were referred to as “Crimson Realm Denizens,” often simply called “Denizens.”

These life forms were entirely distinct from humans.

The dissimilarity mentioned here was not in terms of appearance but power.

In contrast to ordinary humans, Crimson Realm Denizens constituted a group imbued with power.

Upon discovering the existence of the human world, many Denizens of the Crimson Realm harbored desires for unrestrained freedom within this world.

However, this world belonged to humans.

It was akin to an apartment already fully occupied, without room for newcomers.

Hence, Denizens of the Crimson Realm could not naturally exist within the present world.

Therefore, to subsist within this world, Denizens of the Crimson Realm absorbed the “Existence” of humans to sustain their existence and power.

Without “Existence,” Denizens of the Crimson Realm could not manifest in this world or wield their power.

The so-called “Power of Existence” thus emerged, signifying the power of existence itself, sustaining the energy of all things in the world.

Crimson Realm Denizens continuously devoured the “Power of Existence” from humans, converting human existence into soul flames, enabling them to linger in this world and act as they pleased.

As for the individuals whose Existence was consumed, they would naturally disappear completely. Their existence would be erased to the point of not being remembered by anyone, leaving no trace in any corner of the world.

These remnants of Existence were what Torches represented. These were the leftovers, the remaining fragments of Power of Existence set within the human world as a surrogate existence.

The abrupt vanishing of originally existing lives would lead to conflicts in the world, causing distortions that would affect the balance between the present world and the Crimson Realm.

To prevent the collapse of both worlds, entities that wished to maintain this balance adopted the strategy of setting Torches, allowing them to persist in this world, mitigating these conflicts.

However, Torches were only temporary surrogates, and their remnants of Power of Existence, like flames, would eventually be extinguished.

So, those individuals with soul flames burning within them had all already died, and sooner or later, their flames would flicker out.

In other words, at this moment, various forms of “Death” filled the space around Fang Li.

Fang Li came to a halt.

Instead of his original eyes, a pair of ice-blue Mystic Eyes had replaced them.

In this world of “Death,” that pair of Mystic Eyes was imprinted.
