IUD-Chapter 117 Revenge

Finally, Fang Li and Alisa continue walking without exchanging a single word throughout their journey. Alisa seemed to have completely lost her pride in front of Fang Li. She kept her head down the whole time, remaining silent, which created an extremely oppressive atmosphere between them.

Fang Li didn’t make an effort to correct this atmosphere. He allowed Alisa to follow along while he continued moving forward.

On their way, Fang Li and Alisa encountered several waves of Aragami. However, these Aragami were either solitary or in small groups, and there were no large Aragami like Vajra in sight.

Therefore, Alisa still didn’t find an opportunity to make a move. By the time she realized it, Fang Li had already rushed forward with his dagger, effortlessly dispatching all the Aragami, one after another.

Of course, he still had to directly kill the Aragami cores, resulting in the deaths of numerous Aragami.

As a result, Fang Li’s first Main Quest was progressing steadily after being completed, but the Second Main Quest had completely stalled. Forget about additional rewards; he couldn’t even reach the basic completion condition.

However, at this moment, Fang Li didn’t feel anxious. He had already figured out a method to complete the Second Main Quest. But it required Alisa’s help.

Yet, considering the current atmosphere between them, Fang Li believed it was better to set that aside for now and address it later.

In such a situation, not much time passed before nightfall arrived.

In the end, although Fang Li and Alisa had been constantly on the move and their speed was not slow, they couldn’t catch up to Aphrodite. They hadn’t even left the scope of the wilderness and could only helplessly come to a stop.

After all, traveling swiftly at night posed many dangers even to them.

Furthermore, apart from Alisa, Fang Li himself carried some injuries on his body, and with a full day of traveling, it was best to take a rest.

Fortunately, not long after nightfall, Fang Li and Alisa discovered a dilapidated ruin in the wilderness.

So, the two of them entered the ruins and began their rest.

“Crackle…”

The sound of twigs burning could be heard.

In the dim ruins, a bonfire was being lit, illuminating the surroundings and dispelling the chill in the air. Fang Li and Alisa sat facing each other, but their gazes didn’t meet.

It was only after a while that Fang Li took out a pack of cookies from the Black Ring.

Those were the Energy Compression Cookies Fang Li had obtained upon entering the Main God’s Dimension. He had only used them once in the previous Dungeon World and hadn’t had a chance to use them since.

In the personal residence modification plan he chose in the Main God’s Dimension, the mansion’s refrigerator could generate a certain type of food to some extent.

Therefore, Fang Li had kept these cookies until now, and they are finally coming in handy.

After taking out a piece, Fang Li tossed the cookie to Alisa and said, “Eat one. One piece can sustain you for an entire day, so don’t eat too many.”

With that said Fang Li proceeded to enjoy his own cookie. As for Alisa, after instinctively taking the cookie, she fell into a speechless state once again.

One cookie that could fulfill a day’s worth of sustenance?

She had never even heard of such a thing.

In this era ravaged by Aragami, with land occupied and livestock preyed upon, people could only rely on various kinds of coarse grains to get by. Food was always a pressing issue everywhere. And if the existence of such a food item that could solve a day’s worth of eating was made public, one could only imagine the tremendous impact it would have on this world.

However, the man in front of her casually took out such a thing without any concern. This only added to the complexity in Alisa’s heart.

As she looked at the cookie in her hand, Alisa fell silent for a long time before finally taking a bite out of it.

Fang Li glanced at Alisa, who was munching on the cookie, and smiled without making it too obvious. Then he asked with a seemingly indifferent expression on his face, “By the way, you haven’t told me why you decided to follow along?”

Alisa’s actions instantly halted when she heard this question.

“There must be a reason, right?” Fang Li rested his head against the wall as his gaze fixed on the ceiling, as he said to Alisa, “Otherwise, I can’t believe that you would want to approach a monster like Aphrodite for no reason.”

Alisa didn’t reply immediately. Instead, she lowered her head, staring at the cookie in her hand, lost in her thoughts.

Fang Li didn’t rush her. He sat there quietly, waiting for Alisa’s answer.

This wait lasted for a full ten minutes and after ten minutes, Alisa spoke softly and uttered a single line.

“I have an enemy I must defeat.”

Those words made Fang Li raise his gaze and look at Alisa. Naturally, Fang Li was aware of this matter. The enemy Alisa referred to, which she must defeat, was an Aragami.

However, it wasn’t an ordinary Aragami.

“It is the enemy who killed my parents.” Alisa’s grip on the cookie tightened gradually, and her tone became somewhat chilling. “And it happened right in front of me.”

In other words, Alisa had witnessed her parents being killed but was powerless to do anything about it.

She was unable to save the people she loved, she was unable to save even herself.

Disgusted with her own weakness, Alisa chose to become a God Eater and wielded a God Arc capable of slaying Aragami.

“You mentioned before that my reaction to Vajra was too intense.” Alisa directed her gaze towards Fang Li’s body and continued, “It’s only natural because the one who killed my parents is a Fallen Species of Vajra.”

As mentioned before, even among Aragami of the same type, their power could vary significantly.

The so-called Fallen Species were a kind of mutated Aragami that absorbed the characteristics of various prey during their continuous hunting, resulting in unknown variations within their bodies.

Such Aragami were generally much stronger than their pre-mutation counterparts.

For example, if there truly was a Fallen Species of Vajra, it would undoubtedly be more powerful than the Vajra itself, which was already a large-scale Aragami.

“I joined the Russian Branch for the sole purpose of defeating it.” Alisa slowly crushed the cookie in her hand, her eyes filled with endless obsession and hatred as she spoke. “After learning that this war was caused by Aphrodite’s hormones, I made up my mind to find Aphrodite. If I do that, I’m sure I will also find it.”

After all, Aphrodite possessed hormones that attracted any Aragami. The variant of Vajra that killed Alisa’s parents would surely be drawn to it as well.

So, Alisa’s purpose in coming along was also straightforward.

“I seek revenge.”
