GGS-Chapter 1085 Class Reunion Part 1

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Su Jing scooped up a handful of soil and completely covered the lamp wick. He waited for a while, expecting the soil to cool it down or at least cut off the air supply, but to his surprise, the soil began to heat up. He brushed away the soil and saw that the wick was still burning.

“This is too unscientific,” Su Jing exclaimed in astonishment. The burning of a flame requires three essential conditions: a combustible material, oxygen (air), and reaching the ignition point.

With so much water poured and the wick completely covered by soil, it should have cooled down below the ignition point and should have been cut off the air. How could it still be burning?

Su Jing decided to grab a fire extinguisher and aimed it at the wick, spraying it vigorously until the entire extinguisher was empty, but the lamp continued to burn.

He then picked up the oil lamp and submerged it completely in water, fully immersing the wick. However, to his surprise, it continued to burn underwater.

Finally, Su Jing had Qingyun send the oil lamp into a vacuum space, which was completely devoid of air. Yet, it continued to burn.

At this moment, Su Jing realized that this oil lamp was not just extraordinary, it was downright magical — It was a miraculous lamp, to be precise.

“Hold on, these trash items are from the ‘Classic of Mountain and Sea’ universe. I recall a type of lamp called the Mermaid Oil Lamp,” Su Jing’s eyes lit up as he suddenly thought of something.

In the ‘Classic of Mountain and Sea’ universe, mermaids, or fish people, existed. Naturally, there could be mermaid oil lamps that contained not ordinary lamp oil but mermaid oil extract.

Mermaid oil extract was made from the boiled remains of mermaids. The cruelty of such a practice was evident, and it was not something an ordinary person could do. However, this oil extract was incredibly remarkable.

Just a drop of such oil could burn for a long time, and once ignited, it couldn’t be extinguished until the oil is burned out. Hence, this type of lamp was called the Everbright Lamp.

“These oil lamps are truly deceiving in their appearance. They may appear ordinary, but their origins are remarkable. These three lamps possess quite a high level of sophistication,” Su Jing murmured to himself as he contemplated the seemingly indestructible oil lamp before him.

Oil lamps may seem useless nowadays with the prevalence of electric lighting, but an indestructible oil lamp held great significance even in current society. Take, for example, the upcoming Olympics; it would have its usual uses, such as with the Olympic flame.

Regardless of the country hosting the Olympics, the Olympic flame would undoubtedly hold great importance. Any accidental extinguishing would be considered ominous.

For instance, during the torch handover ceremony in the 2004 Athens Olympics, the torch unexpectedly went out when the Greek Olympic Committee President, Lambis Nikolaou, passed it to the Athens Olympic Committee President, Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki. This incident was seen as an ill omen at the time.

Moreover, nearly every edition of the Olympics had its share of troublemakers. There have been instances of individuals using fire extinguishers on the torch or snatching it and throwing it into the sea.

Therefore, protecting the torch was an essential task for every Olympics.

If the oil inside the torch were replaced with mermaid oil extract, what could anyone do? Spray it with a fire extinguisher. Throw it into the sea? Fear not, no matter how you handle it, the flame would never be extinguished.

The upcoming Olympics were set to take place in Tokyo, Japan. Su Jing had no obligation to assist them with their Olympic flame. However, if Japan were to learn about the existence of the Everbright Lamp, they would undoubtedly be envious and would spare no effort to acquire it.

Furthermore, the current hype surrounding the Olympics continued to rise. If Su Jing utilized the Everbright Lamp to connect the Galactic Corporation Group and generate publicity, it would undoubtedly be excellent.

With these thoughts in mind, Su Jing decided to stop trying to extinguish the lit Mermaid Oil Lamp as that would be futile and instead made a call to Zheng Nan, asking her to prepare for publicity.

Su Jing made a phone call to Zheng Nan and asked her to arrange the publicity matter and then continued to sort out the garbage.

Gradually, he sorted out some valuable wood, exotic stones, and other trash, but their value was insignificant compared to Su Jing’s current worth. Special items like the Fire Rat Skin and the Merfolk Oil Lamp couldn’t be found again.

After confirming multiple times, Su Jing instructed Qingyun to dispose of the useless garbage. The useful and potentially useful items were all stored away. With this, the Super Universe Garbage Station was once again empty, ready to receive the next batch of trash.

As he walked out of the Garbage Station, intending to take a bath, his phone suddenly vibrated. Upon opening it, he saw a notification in the university group chat, where someone had mentioned him.

Su Jing browsed through the chat history and discovered that the class monitor, Jiang Wang, was planning a class reunion and was asking for suggestions on the best place to gather.

Three years had passed since their graduation, and many of them hadn’t seen each other since then, so the idea of a class reunion excited everyone.

“I think we should gather at our alma mater.”

“Our school isn’t that fun. How about choosing a scenic tourist spot instead?”

“Or we could go to Qingyun Town in Zhongyun City. The seaside there is beautiful, and they have unique attractions like the Seagull Umbrella, Swallow Slip, Red Fox Wine, and more. It’s also A’Jing’s territory, so we should have a great time there.”

It was this classmate who mentioned Su Jing first, followed by a few others also mentioning him.

Su Jing was about to reply when Jiang Wang said, “Haha, as long as you’re willing to spend money, you can have fun anywhere. I’ll cover your travel expenses. A’Jing is a busy person; there’s no need to trouble him. And here’s some good news for you all. I’ve invited Schooffice Lady Flower Qian Yingzhu and Young Master Huo to join our gathering.”
