GGS-Chapter 1084 Mysterious

The fur coat showed no signs of burning or even a single singed hair. The moisture on it had completely evaporated, and each strand of fur unfolded, becoming soft and radiant. Even the various dirt and stains seemed to have diminished significantly, leaving the fur coat much cleaner.

“What’s going on?” Su Jing couldn’t help but realize that something was incredibly abnormal. How could it burn so fiercely and yet not a single hair was singed?

“Could it be…” A bold idea suddenly popped into Su Jing’s mind. He conjured a fireball in his hand and placed it beneath the fur coat. Instantly, the fur coat caught fire.

However, it was clear to see that the fur remained untouched by the fire and it was as if it became even softer and more radiant the more time passed. The dirt and stains on the fur quickly burned away, carried off by the flames.

After burning for a while, the fire finally stopped. The fur coat now looked as if it were made of the finest fox fur, completely clean and immaculate, it looked completly new.

“This fur coat is simply godly,” Su Jing exclaimed. He realized his previous mistake of using water to wash it. He had judged the fur coat based on his limited knowledge of Earth, and it was evident that it didn’t need water. When it got dirty, all it needed was to be burned with fire.

Su Jing put on the fur coat and even tried walking closer to the flames. When the fur coat touched the flames, he didn’t feel any heat. He passed directly through the flames without using fire magic, and to his surprise, he didn’t suffer any burns on his body.

Just as Su Jing had expected, this fur coat had fire-resistant properties and he finally had a hunch about what kind of animal’s fur it was.

If Su Jing is not mistaken then this should be the fur of a Fire Mouse, also known as the Flame Mouse. It is a unique nocturnal creature that emits light in the universe of the “Classic of Mountain and Sea.”

It is said to be a peculiar mouse that resides in a volcano located at the end of the South Sea (not a modern volcano but a burning forest). It weighs about a Hundred Jin (50 Kg), with a large body and fur that grows close to one meter long in size and is as fine as silk.

It dies upon contact with water. Its fur can be used to make fireproof cloth called “Huowan cloth or Fire Proof Cloths.” If it gets dirty, it can be cleaned by simply burning it.

“The Creator of this coat is truly amazing. Even Modern technology cannot achieve the same level of finesse that went into making this fur coat,” Su Jing exclaimed as he examined the coat.

Unfortunately, there is only one piece of this Fire Mouse fur. If there were more, firefighters would be much safer wearing them. With only one piece, it was natural for Su Jing to keep it for himself.

Su Jing continued sorting through the garbage and he found many things like: broken stone tools, torn fabric, dilapidated wooden furniture, shattered clay pots, and more.

The craftsmanship of these items was too primitive and outdated. Even if they were not broken, they would have little value here, let alone in their current state.

“Hmm?” Su Jing suddenly unearthed a bronze artifact. It had a cylindrical base, about fifteen centimeters tall, slightly bent and damaged, with an opening on the top resembling a plate.

Inside the plate, there was a large amount of oil ointment, with a wick in the center. It was easy to tell that this was an ancient oil lamp.

Su Jing asked Little Bai Mouse to repair the oil lamp. After carefully examining it for a moment, he couldn’t find anything peculiar about it. It seemed to be just an ordinary oil lamp.

He continued searching and soon found two more oil lamps, both in worse condition than the one he found before. One was already broken, and the other had spilled all its oil.

However, with Little White Mouse around, it was no problem at all and they were quickly repaired to their peak condition.

However, no matter how much Su Jing looked at them, all three lamps appeared to be ordinary. The three bronze artifacts seemed crude and could not be considered craftsmanship.

“What if I light them up? Perhaps they have a special function when ignited,” Su Jing pondered before a small flame appeared on his fingertip, and he approached the wick, igniting one of the lamps.

As the wick burned, Su Jing observed the lamp attentively. One minute passed, then two minutes, then three… Time went by, but he didn’t notice anything unusual.

After ten minutes, Su Jing had no choice but to give up. He thought to himself that if someone saw him studying a lamp so intently, they would probably think he was going or had gone crazy.

Su Jing shook his head self-mockingly and decided to stop observing the lamp. He blew a breath of air on the wick to put out the flames, causing the flame of the wick to flicker, but it remained strong and continued to burn.

Su Jing was taken aback when he saw this. With his extraordinary constitution, his lung capacity was immense. Even if he blew casually, there was no reason for the flame to remain unextinguished.

Refusing to believe it, he leaned closer, about ten centimeters away, and blew with force. The flame tilted almost parallel to the ground, but as soon as the wind passed, it stood upright again.

Su Jing felt as if his lung capacity was being insulted by this piece of crap in front of him. He blew twice more forcefully, yet the flame still remained lit.

“This is unbelievable,” Su Jing exclaimed. He decided to release his Fire Element, using fire magic to extinguish the flame on the wick. However, no matter how he tried to extinguish it, at least a tiny portion of the fire remained on the wick, and it would continue to burn.

“This oil lamp is truly unusual,” Su Jing’s eyes sparkled at this moment as he let go of the hate he felt towards the lamp for a perceived insult. It was clearly not a matter of his lung capacity but there was something peculiar about the lamp itself.

Su Jing grabbed a basin of water and poured it directly onto the lamp. With such a large amount of water, even if it were a fire basin, it should have been extinguished. However, after the water flowed over it, the oil lamp continued to burn.

Su Jing scooped up a handful of soil and completely covered the lamp wick. He waited for a while, expecting the soil to cool it down or at least cut off the air supply, but to his surprise, the soil began to heat up. He brushed away the soil and saw that the wick was still burning.
