APJ Chapter 237 Survival or Death

A Giant’s silhouette emerged in the distance, running towards them. It was Saul, who had accidentally drifted here while being chased by the Marines. First Olvia, then Robin, Saul has a special connection with this mother and daughter.

“Stop dilly-dallying, Olvia! Buster Call has begun. Hurry, take Robin and escape!”

“Saul? How did you end up here?”

“That’s a long story. Now is not the time to talk about it. We don’t have much time left!”

“Actually, it’s too late for you to leave now. This place has already been surrounded by the Marines.”

A completely unfamiliar voice reached their ears. Clover looked at the yellow-haired girl with a puzzled expression. He had never seen this person on the island before.

Civilians should have already evacuated to the refugee boats, and there shouldn’t be anyone among the children of the scholars like her.

Robin also didn’t recognize her, but Saul recognized her. He immediately placed his large hand in front of Robin and Olvia, shielding them.

“Be careful! She’s an incredibly vicious pirate!”

“A pirate? Her?”

“Yeah, don’t underestimate her. She destroyed an entire island in the New World and has a bounty of 480 million Berries—Olga the Phantom, one of the top officers of the Beasts Pirates.”

As a Vice Admiral of the Marine Headquarters, Saul was familiar with anyone whose bounty in the New World exceeds 100 million, even more so of the officers of the major pirate crews.

Although their bounties usually received some increment due to the captain, their own strength far exceeded that of ordinary pirates.

In Saul’s eyes, Olga was an extremely dangerous pirate.

“She has a bounty of 480 million?”

Olvia found it hard to believe the bounty amount, especially since Olga appeared to be only thirteen or fourteen years old.

Moreover, they had just seen each other on another island not long ago, and at that time, Olvia thought Olga was just a bounty hunter. She never expected her to be a pirate, let alone one with such a high bounty.

“Don’t spread rumors. That island was destroyed during a battle between other pirate crews. I just happened to benefit from it in the end.”

At this point, she no longer wanted to explain anything. She also resented the Marine’s Intelligence Branch. However, Saul seemed unconcerned about such matters.

“Why are you here?”

“Just following orders. We received information about the Buster Call through our sources, and my lord didn’t want everything on Ohara to be destroyed, so he came here to save you.”

Once the Buster Call was initiated and Spandine escaped, Arceus instructed Olga to bring them back to the Tree of Knowledge. Since they had come this far, the goal was to pack up and take everything with them.

Either they could go with him or die on Ohara. There was no third option. These scholars were all on the World Government’s blacklist, and if even one of them is discovered, it would cause a chain reaction which would lead to big trouble.

At that moment, Saul happened to arrive, so he was also included in the group to be taken away. After all, he was a giant.

“Just a reminder, among the Vice Admirals leading the operation are Kuzan and Sakazuki. You should know very well that it’s impossible to escape from their hands. Tree of Knowledge is the only way out. If you don’t want to die, come quickly.”

“Olvia, you take Robin and go with her, alright?”

“What?”

“She’s right. I’m familiar with Kuzan. He’s different from the average Vice Admiral, a true monster. And there’s also Sakazuki. Perhaps only this pirate can save you.”

“Enough, you big oaf. If you’re worried about them, then come along as well. You know too much, and we can’t let you leave. Besides, these scholars also need you.”

If possible, use gentle means instead of violence. That was Arceus’s requirement. If Saul didn’t cooperate, she had other ways.

But persuaded by Robin’s words, Saul decided to accompany them to the Tree of Knowledge.

“If you have any ill intentions, I won’t spare you. Don’t underestimate me. I am a Vice Admiral from the Headquarters.”

“Former Vice Admiral from the Headquarters. Your wanted poster has already spread throughout the Four Seas.”

“…”

Inside the Tree of Knowledge, the sounds of cannon fire echoed from the outside, and the tree trunk was already engulfed in flames. However, when the scholars ran inside, they discovered that the inside was completely unscathed and a group of strangers was packing up the books.

They didn’t even ask who these people were and immediately joined them in packing up the books.

When Saul bent down and squeezed through the doorway, this was the scene he encountered.

“Lord Arceus, all the scholars and that giant are here.”

“Very well. You don’t need to stop your work, but your next choice will determine your fate! As you can see, World Government’s Buster Call has targeted this place. You and the information here are what they want to destroy.”

“Except for us, no one can save you. And we are pirates!”

With his power behind these plain words, Arceus’ voice spread throughout the Tree of Knowledge and reached the ears of all the historians.

“We won’t interfere with your exploration of history, but we need all the information you uncover. Those who are willing can leave with us.”

“As for those unwilling, I’m sorry, but we don’t want to attract the attention of the World Government right now. A painless death is the only thing I can offer you.”

“Once the documents here are packed away, we will leave immediately. Before that, make your choice: survival or death.”

Although they continued to pack the books, many people had a change of heart. No one was without fear of death, but some things were more important than life itself.

Faced with a desperate situation, they were willing to sacrifice their lives to save the documents. However, when a glimmer of hope emerged, that resolute willingness to die faded somewhat.

They already shared a common ground with the pirates – they were all criminals in the eyes of the World Government. So, many of them decided to leave with the members of the Beasts Pirates.

“Excuse me, I have a question to ask you.”

Clover approached Arceus. Although he was curious about why these people were following Arceus’ orders, now was not the time for questions.

Many things here were a legacy of history, and these young scholars represent hope in his eyes. He didn’t want them to die here, but at the same time, he didn’t want to raise turmoil in the world.

He only wants to explore history, not to overthrow the world.

Verbal promises might not be trustworthy, but at least they could convince many people.

“What is it?”

“You’re taking away these documents and saving us scholars. Is your purpose to obtain clues about the Ancient Weapons? Please tell us.”

“I’m only interested in knowing information about some history. As for those so-called Ancient Weapons, you don’t have to worry. I’m not interested in them.”

“Because in my eyes, those Ancient Weapons are nothing more than toys for children. Their power is insignificant compared to mine.”
