Training, learning, and pushing forward.
The monotonous and repetitive academy life lasted for over a month.
Academy’s training journey?
Terrance, who had initially rejected it, found himself compelled to join this time.
Because the Nosepass were on the brink of evolution, and he needed to find a place with a stronger magnetic field to stimulate their evolution.
Doing so meant Terrance had to leave the towering walls of Crown Academy. However, the prospect of successfully applying for another outing seemed unlikely to Terrance, given that students were not permitted to venture out alone. So, he had to resort to the alternative option of participating in the academy’s training journey in a team format.
These training journeys were usually led by Graduation Class students. In case there were no senior students available, teachers would guide the lower-grade students through the exploration of Mt. Coronet.
Within a lakeside corridor classroom at Crown Academy, a mature-looking young man sighed.
“I never expected that there would be two Breeder Class students who would sign up for the training journey… We’ll have to take care of them during the training journey.”
“Who takes care of whom isn’t certain yet,” a beautiful female student remarked, pursing her lips.
“Haha… So, it’s just the four of us now? The other 3 are a bit slow,” a student with spiky hair noted.
“We still have 10 minutes until the agreed time,” the last student, who appeared more composed, replied.
As the four conversed, a student with green hair walked over slowly. They all froze upon seeing him.
“Misanji… He also accepted the training journey’s mission.”
Misanji, a Graduation Class student from the Hoenn region. Crown Academy was established in Sinnoh’s Mt. Coronet. While the majority of students are native Sinnoh Trainers, there are also a few from the Hoenn, Unova, and even more distant regions.
Misanji’s academic experience at Crown Academy is quite unique. Despite having a complete team, he rarely sends out any other Pokémon if the matter can be handled by his “Sceptile.”
Whether it’s the advancement exams, battles, or anything else… he always sends out Sceptile first. He has a special attachment to Sceptile, and over time, quite a few people have formed an impression of this unique student.
“Is everyone here?”
Just then, an orange-haired girl student also arrived, surveyed the scene, and asked.
“We’re missing one person.” Seeing a girl among them, the beautiful female student immediately approached her with enthusiasm.
“I’m Yuko from the Battle Class. You must be Orange from the Breeder Class, right?”
“Yes.” Orange, the Breeder Class student, responded calmly without much elaboration. Yuko smiled faintly; the Breeder Class students were quite easy to identify, and she had some understanding of Orange’s personality.
“Hey, hey, hey, look, the last person is here too!” The student with spiky hair beamed. With everyone present, they should be able to set out soon.
Terrance was the last to arrive, and he had all his Pokémon with him, ready to take on the Mt. Coronet’s training journey.
“Why is it him?” Oran from the Breeder Class scrutinized carefully and couldn’t help but mutter.
“Orange, he should be a fellow Breeder Class student, right? Is there a problem?” Yuko asked, puzzled.
“No,” Oran glanced over, not recognizing him as this new student had not attended a single class since transferring in the middle of the year.
“Looks like everyone’s here.” Terrance arrived at the meeting point, checked his watch, and realized he was right on time. With that thought, he no longer felt guilty about being the last one to arrive.
Crown Academy wasn’t large, and among the seven people present, there were a few familiar faces, or at least acquaintances.
For this training journey, there were two Graduation Class students who will lead the team, one Advanced Class student, two Intermediate Class students, and two Breeder Class students.
“I suppose there are some who don’t know me here? First, let me introduce myself. I’m Jinbe, and I’ll be the leader and recorder for this training journey,” the student who had been composed from the beginning spoke up as soon as everyone had gathered.
He then pulled out a device resembling a Pokédex. “This device will record our performance throughout the training journey. If you’re interested in credit rewards, give it your all.”
“Our destination this time is North Lake, in the far north corner of Mt. Coronet.”
North Lake.
Each participant was aware of the training journey’s destination beforehand. Terrance had naturally done his research too. Among the students, North Lake was often called the “Lake of Gyarados,” a place dominated by Gyarados.
The main task for this training journey was to challenge the Gyarados.
The several days of traveling to and from North Lake also made up a significant part of the training journey.
After the introductions, everyone became more familiar with each other.
Leading the training journey was Graduation Class student Jinbe.
The deputy leader was the Graduation Class student Misanji.
The team consisted of Breeder Class students Terrance and Oran, the mature youth from the Advanced Class, Seiji, the Intermediate Class student Yuko, and the student with spiky hair, Tobias.
“By the way, I’ve heard there’s a Gyarados King in North Lake. It seems many students have been defeated by it.” Yuko, who was going to North Lake for the first time, asked curiously.
“No worries, it’s my opponent. You guys just need to deal with regular Gyarados,” Jinbe said.
“It’s my opponent,” Misanji stared blankly at Jinbe.
As fellow Graduation Class students, Jinbe couldn’t possibly not recognize Misanji. In fact, they were quite familiar with each other. “You… are always like this,” he scratched his head in exasperation, seemingly at a loss when it comes to Misanji.
“You’d better not show off. Graduation exams are coming up soon, and if you don’t perform well, it could affect your final evaluation,” Jinbe advised.
“……”, Misanji fell silent.
Terrance, on the other hand, checked his backpack, going over his supplies one last time: medicines, food, emergency items – he had everything he needed.
Shortly after, they divided the tasks and set some small goals. As the leader and the more experienced one, Jinbe explained several important points to keep in mind. After receiving confirmation from everyone, they set off on their journey.
Stepping outside the walls of Crown Academy, Terrance reminisced about his first encounter with a training journey. It had happened right when he had just arrived at Crown Academy, as he crossed paths with a group of students who were going out.
It was his first time going out with other students as part of a team, and this experience was quite novel for him.
“I just hope everything goes smoothly…”
For Terrance, participating in this training journey was not primarily about going to North Lake; the key objective was to find a place along the way with a strong magnetic field. This would allow Nosepass to evolve during this outing, which was the primary goal.
