The beautiful singing was like droplets falling into a river, creating ripples that reverberated endlessly in the room. Sylvia, while holding Ursula’s hand, sang with her eyes closed, as if reminiscing about the past and immersing herself in the music.

After leaving Ursula’s room, Sylvia didn’t leave the hospital but led Fang Li to the rooftop. This rooftop seemed to be designed for patients to relax and soak up some sun. It was decorated with ornamental plants, trees, and benches. There was even an automated vending machine not too far away.
Sylvia asked Fang Li to sit on a bench, and she went to the vending machine to get two drinks, returning with them in hand.
“Here,” Sylvia handed one of the bottles to Fang Li.
Fang Li accepted it but didn’t open it. Sylvia did the same, holding her drink and sitting beside him. They both gazed ahead, lost in their thoughts.
Neither of them spoke, but the atmosphere wasn’t awkward at all. Instead, there was an inexplicable warmth between them. Fang Li sat there quietly, just being there for Sylvia.
After a while, Sylvia softly began to speak.
“Thank you for everything, all this time.”
It was a simple sentence, but it was likely the most sincere expression of gratitude Sylvia had contemplated for a long time. In other words, all the words she had in her heart were condensed into this one sentence.
In response, Fang Li simply smiled and said, “Don’t mention it. I’m just keeping my promise.”
Finding Ursula wasn’t particularly challenging for Fang Li. With his foresight and some strategic planning, retrieving Ursula was a straightforward task for him.
“Even though I might have intervened a bit too much, that’s just the way I am. I either don’t do it, or I go all the way,” Fang Li shrugged casually. He turned to Sylvia and added, “So, your gratitude is more than enough.”
“Is that so?” Sylvia lowered her head, gazing at the drink she held in her palm. She then said somewhat suggestively, “But, I still want to say that you can be a bit more greedy.”
“Greedy?” Fang Li turned to look at Sylvia and asked, “Are you suggesting that I should ask you for a reward?”
“If I say it like that, you’ll probably tell me that you have received the reward from the start, right?” Sylvia gazed directly into Fang Li’s eyes as if she had completely seen through his thoughts. In a melodious voice, she continued, “However, I still want to say that you can ask for more in return.”
As she spoke these words, Sylvia’s eyes glistened with emotions like rippling waves. The kind of emotion that could draw someone’s mind into its depths, enough to make any man feel intoxicated.
Unfortunately, Fang Li was also a man. While not completely bewitched, he did feel a certain attraction for her, and for a moment, he couldn’t divert his gaze. Those captivating eyes held him spellbound.
