IUD-Chapter 106 Don’t Compare Me To You

As an ordinary soldier, the Russian Branch naturally didn’t require Fang Li to engage in combat with the Aragami. That was the job of the God Eaters.

Even in the Far East Branch, they didn’t intend for soldiers to fight the Aragami. They were only responsible for various support and reinforcement tasks. It was only when there were no God Eaters available that they would have to confront the Aragami.

Therefore, the Mission assigned to Fang Li was to plant landmines at the forefront of the battlefield, obstructing or slowing down the Aragami’s advance. There were a total of twenty-four squads responsible for this Mission.

Fang Li was assigned to the first squad of the vanguard. In other words, at this stage before full-scale warfare, Fang Li needed to go to the area closest to the Aragami.

Although it was a simple task of just planting landmines, the opponents were Aragami whom humans couldn’t resist, and they were so close. It was evident how dangerous it would be.

“I knew I’d become a thorn in someone’s eyes.” In the helicopter en route to the frontlines, Fang Li surveyed the entire cabin as he thought to himself.

Around him, the soldiers of the Russian Branch were sitting orderly on long benches, their faces tensed. And these soldiers maintained a very subtle distance from Fang Li, making him feel out of place among them.

Fang Li didn’t pay much attention to it however because the reason Fang Li seemed out of place was not only due to their different affiliations but also because of their different mindsets.

While Fang Li didn’t reject going to the frontlines, he actually welcomed it.

“Only this way can I fish in troubled water and seize the opportunity to complete Main Quest One and Main Quest Two.”

Therefore, Fang Li was eager to go to the most dangerous places where he could find opportunities to complete his Missions amidst the chaos.

In contrast, each soldier present here certainly had a sense of crisis in their heart and their contrasting mindsets made Fang Li feel equally out of place among them.

Under such circumstances, the military helicopter began descending slowly and landed in the wilderness. The cabins of the military helicopters opened one by one, allowing the soldiers to disembark.

Each soldier carried a large box in their hands and in addition to the boxes, everyone also carried machine guns and heavy equipment with them.

Fang Li also disembarked from the cabin.

When all twenty-four squads of the vanguard had disembarked from the cabin and formed neat lines simultaneously, the cabin of the last helicopter finally opened.

However, the person who came out of this helicopter was not a soldier in uniform but a warrior in civilian clothing, carrying a massive weapon with them.

Surprisingly, it was a God Eater.

This was still the frontline, after all, so the presence of a God Eater was not surprising.

Although the Mission of the vanguard squads was only to plant landmines, the Russian Branch arranged for God Eaters to accompany them as they were a force that might come into contact with the Aragami at any time.

However, it was well-known that only rookie God Eaters who hadn’t been assigned important Missions had the possibility of accompanying them on such Missions.

Therefore, among these God-Eaters, Alisa was also present.

Fang Li raised his gaze and looked over and saw Alisa descending slowly from the cabin with an indifferent expression on her face. Her posture still carried a hint of arrogance in it and this time, she had an additional weapon in her hand.

A weapon that was entirely crimson, categorized as a longsword.

“So, that’s Alisa’s God Arc,” Fang Li mused. In other words, it was a New-Type God Arc, capable of freely switching between the forms of a longsword for close combat and an assault rifle for long-range attacks.

Alisa effortlessly wielded the God Arc, which was even larger than her own body and descended from the helicopter.

Ahead of her were soldiers awaiting orders, and beside her were fellow rookie team members. In this place, Alisa was undoubtedly the most dazzling figure— not only because of her beauty but also because of her abilities.

“You don’t have to keep a straight face all the time, Alisa,” One of Alisa’s rookie God Eater companions smiled and said, trying to please her. “Our Mission is only to accompany them, it’s easy. Just be on alert casually.”

As the rookie God Eater spoke, the other rookie God Eaters echoed his sentiments.

“According to the calculations, the probability of encountering Aragami here is less than 20%.”

“Moreover, this probability remains low until we complete the Mission.”

“We’ll be working for at least four to five hours this time, and during such a long period, the chances of encountering Aragami are minimal. We won’t be so unlucky.”

“So, let’s relax.”

All the rookie God Eaters showed relaxed smiles on their faces as they spoke.

Observing their behavior, the soldiers, who were standing in neat lines, couldn’t help but feel a sense of disdain for them in their hearts. They were already on the battlefield, yet they couldn’t even generate a sense of tension. From this point alone, it was clear that these rookies were immature.

In this situation, Alisa turned her head and looked at her smiling companions one by one, her expression unchanged. Then, Alisa uttered a line. “Don’t compare me to all of you.”

After speaking, Alisa ignored her companions and confidently stepped forward to address the soldiers. “Everyone, let’s start the mission now!”

The soldiers responded in unison and dispersed in all directions, carrying their boxes.

As for the rookies, they looked at Alisa, who didn’t consider them worthy of her attention, and their expressions became awkward and angry.

“Damn it.”

“What kind of attitude is that?”

“Does she think she’s superior just because she’s a rare New-Type?”

“If she didn’t look pretty, I wouldn’t bother with her.”

“Exactly.”

Evidently, Alisa’s disrespectful behavior made the rookie God Eaters feel extremely embarrassed. However, Alisa had no intention of socializing with them. While the soldiers began their mission, she ascended to a high vantage point, raising her God Arc in her hand.

“Kacha—!” With a mechanical sound, Alisa forcefully pushed the handle of her God Arc, and in the next moment, her God Arc suddenly transformed from its original longsword appearance into the shape of a huge Gun.

Seeing this scene, the rookies couldn’t help but close their mouths in awe. Among the crowd, Fang Li also witnessed this cool transformation and he looked at Alisa, who remained vigilant with her gun-shaped God Arc on high alert, and a slight smile formed on his lips.

“Interesting,” he murmured. With that, Fang Li crouched down and began burying the landmines.

Unbeknownst to Fang Li, as he started his task, Alisa, who was on guard, glanced briefly in his direction. Recalling the fact that she had been effortlessly defeated by the hands of that intruder the previous night, Alisa tightened her grip on her God Arc and the expression on her face grew increasingly tense.
