In the “Classic of Mountain and Sea Universe,” these extinct lifeforms might only be considered ordinary lifeforms, they might even be unknown, and their names would certainly be different from those on Earth.
For example, the White-footed Rabbit Rat was named after an Australian location, but in the “Classic of Mountain and Sea,” it definitely wouldn’t have that name.
Similarly, the Kashenov Ghost Beauty Phoenix Swallowtail Butterfly was named after a foreigner who first claimed to have discovered the Butterfly, so it wouldn’t have that name in the “Classic of Mountain and Sea” either.
The names might differ, but the species could be the same or similar. Some extinct species could only be speculated based on fossils, skeletons, and paintings.
For example, the Dodo(Raphus Cucullatus), nobody in Mauritius, where it was originally found, was entirely certain of its exact appearance.
The Dodo(Raphus Cucullatus) had been extinct since the late 17th century, which means that it has been extinct for three to four hundred years. Who could remember what it really looked like?

The climate in Mauritius alternated between wet and dry seasons, and the Dodo(Raphus Cucullatus) needed to store a large amount of fat during the food-abundant wet season to survive the food scarcity of the dry season.
Thus, once captured and provided with ample food by humans, the Dodo(Raphus Cucullatus) would easily become overweight.
