EPHS-Chapter 366 Griselda’s Lament

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

“Clergy Gerome, welcome back.”

“You’ve worked hard on your mission, Clergy Gerome.”

“Clergy Gerome…”

Having just completed his task, the clergy and nuns in the church welcomed Gerome’s return. For devout devotees, the Church was their true home and belonging. Gerome smiled and greeted everyone, feeling a warm sense of belonging in his heart.

However, what he most wanted to see at this moment was undoubtedly Nun Griselda. Even though he knew that a romantic relationship with Nun Griselda was impossible, he couldn’t suppress his longing for her.

Seeing her, he would soon be able to see her. With this thought, Gerome’s steps quickened involuntarily.

Finally, beneath God’s Idol in the church, Gerome found Nun Griselda. It seemed she had just finished her prayers and was standing up.

“Nun Griselda…” Gerome called out suppressing the palpitations in his heart.

“Ah, Clergy Gerome, has the mission ended? Welcome back.” Placing her hands over her chest, Griselda nodded in Gerome’s direction, offering her customary gentle smile.

If it were any other time, Gerome would have been overjoyed. However, at this moment, he couldn’t help but show a look of astonishment.

“G-Griselda, why do you look so exhausted?”

He almost didn’t recognize her. Though Nun Griselda remained as pure and beautiful as ever, compared to when he left, she seemed to have lost weight.

Her complexion was pale, and she looked extremely tired as if she had just recovered from a serious illness.

“Thak you for your worries Clergy Gerome, but I’m fine.” Griselda shook her head lightly as she spoke but she seemed somewhat indifferent.

“What do you mean ‘fine’? Wait here. I’ll go find a priest from the church.”

Without further ado, Gerome turned around, ready to fetch a priest. But after only a few steps, he suddenly stopped.

He was too flustered to think straight. He realized that the priests in the church were not as capable as Nun Griselda. Even compared to him, they fell far short. And Nun Griselda, as a powerful exorcist, was a living saint favored by the Lord and Gabriel-sama. It was impossible for her to fall ill.

“Nun Griselda, please tell me what happened.” Taking a deep breath, Gerome tried to calm himself and then spoke.

“Clergy Gerome, this matter has nothing to do with you. Please, do not ask.” Helplessly shaking her head, Griselda sighed.

“How can it have nothing to do with me, Nun Griselda? Please, tell me so I can help you!” His expression filled with determination, the more Griselda insisted he not ask, the more Gerome wanted to know.

During his absence from the church, something must have happened to Nun Griselda!

“You can’t help me, no one can…”

“Nun Griselda!”

With an anguished and self-blaming expression, Griselda’s words left Gerome even more eager.

Seeing Nun Griselda in such pain, Gerome felt his heart breaking.

Nun Griselda must have encountered some kind of trouble. He had to find out and help her, to rescue her!

However…

“I’m tired, Clergy Gerome.”

“You’ve just completed your mission. Go back and rest.”

Suddenly, her demeanor turned cold, and Griselda left without a backward glance.

Standing still in place, it took Gerome quite some time to come back to himself.

How could Nun Griselda suddenly treat him with such indifference? How was this possible?!

As a powerful exorcist who had eliminated countless evil entities on the battlefield, Nun Griselda also had her proud and cold side. This was something everyone in the church knew.

However, Nun Griselda’s pride and aloofness were always displayed in front of enemies. When it came to everyone in the Church, she was always gentle, considerate, and like an older sister to all.

The fact that Nun Griselda treated him with such indifference hurt Gerome deeply. However, it only strengthened his determination that something must have happened to Nun Griselda, something he was unaware of.

Since Nun Griselda had already shown coldness towards him, pursuing her further would only lead to more discomfort. Gerome decided it would be best to first inquire with others about what had happened.

Glancing in the direction Nun Griselda had left, Gerome clenched his fists tightly.

“I will definitely help you, Nun Griselda. Please wait for me!”

Putting aside how the young clergyman went about asking others, Nun Griselda returned to her room.

Closing the door and leaning against the wall, Griselda’s face was filled with confusion and pain. She was a sinner. She had betrayed the Lord, she had betrayed Gabriel-sama, she had betrayed everyone in the Church, and above all, she had betrayed her own beliefs and everything she held sacred.

No one could help her, and no one could save her…

“Oh Lord, please forgive me…”

Aware of her deep-seated guilt, Griselda continued to repent and pray in her heart.

However, in the next moment, what filled Griselda with despair was not the departed True Lord, nor the great Gabriel-sama, but Kamiya Tenraku.

With a bitter smile on her face, Griselda knew that her soul had fallen. Despite knowing it was wrong, she couldn’t control herself.

For now, she could still hold on to her sense of self and acknowledge her own wrongdoings. However, if even this sense of guilt were to disappear, she would truly be lost.

She didn’t know when that day would come, but it wouldn’t be long. Perhaps a day, perhaps a hundred days, or maybe even the next moment!

Physically and mentally exhausted, Griselda sometimes found herself thinking of surrendering completely to her fallen state, thinking it would end her suffering. However, her attachment to the Lord and Gabriel-sama prevented her from making that final decision. So, she continued to hold onto the last line of defense.

Even if falling was inevitable, at least she had held on!

Returning to her bedroom, the weary Griselda planned to rest for a while.

However, when she saw the scene inside, Griselda was left stunned.

Undine, the Water Elf Queen, the woman who had delivered Pandora’s Box to her, was here! Kamiya Tenraku, the mastermind who had tempted her into falling and losing her way!

And there were Xenovia, Shidou Irina, and Asia Argento, all of them in her room!

Undine was using her supple body to support her master’s head, while Asia and Irina lay on either side of Tenraku.

As for Xenovia, she was straddling Tenraku, engaged in an intense kiss with her Holy Lord-sama!

“You… you…”

Anger, shock, and excitement filled Griselda, leaving her speechless for a long while.

“At last…”

Finally satisfied, Xenovia and Tenraku separated, a silver thread connecting their lips.

Naturally, Tenraku’s gaze shifted towards Griselda at the door, and she licked her lips, revealing a wicked smile.

“Nun Griselda, it’s been a while…”
