EPHS-Chapter 361 Devil Promotion

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

In the living room, Tenraku and Rias, finally done with their playful scuffle, sat together. One was rubbing the bite marks on his body with a grin, while the other, her face flushed, was busy changing the clothes that had been torn by some “beast.”

“Akeno, have you all had enough laughs?!” Seeing Akeno and the others still chuckling away, Rias huffed in annoyance.

“We… we’ve had enough,” Akeno managed to stifle her laughter before speaking.

“Hehehe…” She couldn’t help but let out a giggle despite covering her lips.

Blushing with embarrassment, Rias couldn’t help but glare fiercely at a certain someone beside her. It was all this guy’s fault!

One was the noble princess of the Gremory family, and the other was the miracle of the Phenex family, but they were squabbling like children, completely disregarding their dignity. One was tearing at the other’s clothes like a ruffian, while the other reluctantly revealed a set of silver fangs, resorting to her “puppy god power” as a last resort.

Fortunately, everyone in the house were sisters, or else if anyone else saw them in this state, it would probably ruin their reputations.

Although it was a bit embarrassing, the playful scuffle did indeed relieve a lot of tension.

Actually, Rias wasn’t truly angry. She had long come to terms with the fact that there were more and more women around Tenraku. However, as his official wife, if she didn’t express anything, this scoundrel would probably become even more unrestrained in the future.

“Now that Lady Roygun has chosen you, don’t let her down. Besides our sisters at home, don’t let others know about your relationship. After all, Lady Roygun is the family lord of the House of Belphegor, and if news of your relationship got out, it would have a negative impact on her reputation.” After calming herself down, Rias advised Tenraku.

“I’m well aware of that.” Tenraku nodded, naturally understanding these points. If news spread that Roygun and her Peerage servants had all become Tenraku’s lovers, it would likely stir up a gossip storm in the entire Underworld.

“However—”

“Rias, you’ve accepted Roygun so quickly, and you’re even considering her feelings so tenderly?” Surveying his queen and wife, Tenraku wore a teasing smile on his face as he spoke.

“And what do you want?!” Rias shot him an exasperated look.

Although she would occasionally feel a twinge of jealousy, Rias Gremory was not the type of woman with a small heart. Since the family lord of the House of Belphegor had already established this kind of relationship with Tenraku, Rias naturally accepted her as one of their own sisters, rather than rejecting or opposing her.

Of course, one of the reasons Rias could accept her so quickly was that Roygun had willingly chosen to become Tenraku’s lover.

While Rias was the official wife and even the head of the harem, that woman was a female Devil on par with Serafall and Grayfia. If she were to focus on vying for the position of head of Tenraku’s harem, Rias would indeed feel some pressure.

Watching Rias’s adorable expression, Tenraku couldn’t help but smile. Wise and beautiful, she would get jealous and angry like an ordinary girl, but at the same time, she was broad-minded and accepting of all of Tenraku’s actions. That was one of the things Tenraku loved most about Rias.

“Rias, having a wife like you is truly a blessing from above.” He pulled the girl into his arms and spoke softly.

“Hmph, as long as you know…” She struggled a bit, and seeing everyone snickering, a flush of red appeared on Rias’s cheeks once again.

Although when they were alone, Tenraku would often speak intimately to her, now that everyone was watching, this guy just didn’t know how to rein it in. Nevertheless, Rias was quite pleased that this scoundrel knew the good in her. Entrusting everything to him hadn’t been in vain.

“Rias, is there anything else happening in the Underworld now?” After their close moment, Tenraku finally brought up the business at hand.

“The war has already ended, and Nii-Sama is currently dealing with post-war matters. Those who suffered casualties in the war will receive compensation, and those who contributed to repelling the enemy will be rewarded.”

“As for you and me, we don’t need to mention it. It will be directly accounted for in our respective families. As for our Peerage, my older brother has given us two slots, allowing our respective Queens to be promoted to Middle-Class Devils. The same goes for Sona’s side.”

Rias spoke, her tone now more serious. Tenraku nodded, indicating his understanding. Both Tenraku and Rias played pivotal roles in this war.

However, for them, ordinary commendations held little significance. Instead, the rewards were directly factored into the interests of the Phenex and Gremory families, a customary practice in the Underworld.

The promotion of Yubelluna and Akeno to Middle-Class Devils came as a pleasant surprise. In this context, “Middle-Class Devil” referred not to strength level, but to rank within the Underworld’s peerage system.

In truth, only Rias and Ravel currently held the title of High-Class Devil in the household. Individuals of mixed heritage like Tenraku didn’t have the qualifications to inherit a title.

However, due to Tenraku’s meteoric rise after his intense battle with Riser, and considering he still possessed half of the Phenex bloodline, the Underworld regarded him as a High-Class Devil.

As for Yubelluna and Akeno, who served as members of his peerage, they were considered Low-Class Devils, the lowest rank in the hierarchy. It was no easy feat for Low-Class Devils to advance to Middle-Class or High-Class.

Such promotions usually took decades or even centuries of accumulating achievements, but Yubelluna and Akeno had made significant contributions to the Underworld under Tenraku and Rias’ command, earning them the qualification for promotion in less than a year.

Even so, it was currently only Yubelluna and Akeno, who held the title of “Queen,” that had earned this promotion. The rest of the peerage members had not yet achieved this. This stringent requirement for promotion reflected how demanding the process was.

Of course, once promoted, their status and benefits in the Underworld would greatly improve. For example, if Yubelluna and Akeno were to become High-Class Devils in the future, they would receive Devil Pieces as rewards from the Demon Kings. With those, they could apply to establish their own peerage teams separate from Tenraku and Rias.

However, even if one day they became High-Class Devils, Yubelluna and Akeno would not leave Tenraku and Rias. In any case, it was a positive development that Yubelluna and Akeno were granted this promotion, and everyone congratulated them.

However, to become official Middle-Class Devils, they would still need to pass certain assessments in the Underworld. Given their levels of power, such assessments were considered quite manageable.

“There’s one more thing. The date for our match has been decided— it will be in five days.”

Upon remembering this, Rias spoke up again.

“In five days? So soon?” Tenraku couldn’t help but be surprised. Normally, this would be fine, but considering the recent war and the numerous matters that needed to be addressed for the recovery of the Underworld, Tenraku thought their match would be postponed for at least a month or so.

“This was arranged by my older brother. He said that this war caused immense losses and brought much sorrow to the Underworld. Our match can serve as an opportunity for everyone to regain their spirits.” Rias responded, seeming somewhat resigned.

Ah, that’s how it is. Tenraku now understood. Given their current popularity and reputation in the Underworld, this approach was indeed effective.

As for the match itself, Tenraku didn’t mind much. After obtaining True Longinus, he had already reached the level of a transcender. It was hard to imagine him losing in any scenario.

However, this time, his opponent was Rias, his beloved and wedded partner. Tenraku couldn’t bear to treat her unfairly outside of the bedroom. But if he didn’t give it his all, Rias would surely be displeased.

This was a bit of a headache. He would have to adapt as the situation unfolded…
