EPHS-Chapter 251: Crisis Part 1

Meanwhile, Tenraku sat next to them, smiling as he watched Asia spread her faith. Interested students also gathered around to listen to Asia’s teachings. After a few hours, the group finally arrived at their destination, Kyoto.

“So, this is Kyoto…” As they walked out of the station, the girls couldn’t help but cheer. As an ancient city with a rich history, Kyoto was home to numerous famous landmarks.

Before their trip, Tenraku had heard Rias talk about many places to visit, and he planned to explore them in the coming days.

According to the school’s arrangements, all the students would be staying in nearby hotels. Tenraku instructed the girls to pick their rooms and settle their luggage while he accompanied Asia and Raynare to a specially arranged room on the top floor.

Hardworking Asia took it upon herself to tidy up the room, while Raynare yawned and headed into the bathroom to freshen up. Tenraku grabbed a can of cola from the fridge and drank it while sending a few messages to Rias and the other girls.

“Asia, take a break too.” Observing Asia sweating from her busy work, Tenraku couldn’t help but smile and speak.

Asia was the type of virtuous wife and mother who took care of everyone around her, both at home and outside. Unlike Raynare, who had a twisted darkness inside her, and couldn’t handle household chores and the like. If you asked her to kill or commit arson, she would oblige, but when it came to housework, she would just laugh it off.

“I’m not tired at all. I’m already happy enough to be able to travel with you, Tenraku-San.”

Shaking his head, Tenraku smiled at Asia’s contented expression. This pure-hearted girl was always so easily satisfied.

“Even if you’re not tired, you should rest. Go wash up and change your clothes. We’ll go out for sightseeing later.”

Tapping the girl’s forehead playfully, Tenraku chuckled.

Brightening up, Asia didn’t refuse and entered the bathroom to freshen up. In no time, she changed into new clothes and emerged with Raynare. Feeling satisfied, Tenraku nodded and prepared to set off. However, as soon as he opened the door, several figures collapsed into the room, having eavesdropped outside.

“What are you all doing huddled here?” With a vein pulsing on his forehead, Tenraku looked at the collapsed figures of Murayama, Katase, and Kiryuu Aika.

“Club President-Sama, we… we…”

Caught red-handed, Murayama and Katase avoided eye contact, their faces flushing with embarrassment. On the other hand, Kiryuu Aika crawled up excitedly and asked, “Hehe, I didn’t expect Club President-sama to share a room with Asia-Senpai and Yuuma-Senpai. Club President-Sama, do you have any naughty plans with the two Senpais?”

What did she mean by “plans”? They had already done everything they should have done. Naturally, Tenraku wouldn’t answer such a question. Instead, he sternly knocked Kiryuu Aika’s head.

“Don’t ask what shouldn’t be asked!”

“We’re going out to have fun. If you want to come along, feel free.”

Closing the door, Tenraku, accompanied by Asia and Raynare, left the room. Naturally, Murayama, Katase, and the others followed suit.

Kiryuu Aika paced back and forth, her eyes sparkling as if she had thought of something. A devilish smile appeared on her face…

Kyoto was the territory of the Nine-Tailed Fox Yōkai. Although ordinary people were unaware of the existence of Yōkai, Fox culture thrived in this area.

Fox masks, fox figurines, fox plush toys… The shops on both sides of the street were filled with fox-related merchandise. Raynare yawned out of boredom, and Tenraku couldn’t help but feel a bit exasperated.

However, these adorable little foxes struck a chord with the girls. Both Asia and the members of the Kendo Club were delighted by them.

Looking left and right, Asia ended up buying a large pile of cute Fox-shaped bracelets, intending to bring one back for everyone at home. As long as the girls were happy, Tenraku didn’t mind accompanying them on this outing.

“Club President-Sama, I heard there’s a highly effective shrine ahead. Shall we go and check it out?” One of the girls from the Kendo Club bounced over with her her face filled with anticipation as she proposed to Tenraku.

Speaking of shrines, Tenraku couldn’t help but think of the place where Akeno and he often caused mischief. Such seemingly sacred places could have hidden “dirty” secrets behind them.

“Club President-Sama, Club President-Sama?” Seeing Tenraku lost in thought, the girl called out twice more.

“Ah… the shrine, right? Let’s go. If you want to go, we can go together.” Snapping back to reality, Tenraku quickly concealed his embarrassment and replied with a smile.

“Club President-Sama is the best! I’ll go call the others!” The girl bounced away to call the others with a cheerful look on her face, while Tenraku wiped off the imaginary sweat from his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.

Although someone like him, with his “dirty” tendencies, wasn’t worthy of visiting a sacred place like a shrine, as long as he didn’t mention it, no one would know!

Soon, the other girls gathered together, and the group set off toward the legendary shrine.

In order to gather Feng Shui Spirit Qi/Energy, shrines were usually built on mountaintops. Looking up from below, one could see a dense staircase that seemed to have no end in sight.

Under Tenraku’s guidance, the girls from the Kendo Club had physical fitness far superior to ordinary people. The challenge posed by the stairs was no match for them. Even Asia, who appeared delicate, effortlessly climbed up without showing any signs of fatigue.

“Hā… Hā… Are the women from the Kendo Club monsters…?” Motohama, Matsuda, and Issei Hyoudou were drenched in sweat, panting, and sprawled on the stone steps halfway up the mountain.

They also wanted to visit the shrine at the mountaintop, but they became exhausted halfway and had to stop to rest.

Although they were three boys, the girls from the Kendo Club easily surpassed them just a moment ago. The contemptuous gazes from Kiryuu and the other girls as they passed by had hurt them deeply.

Not to mention Hyoudou Issei and the others, but not long after, Tenraku and the group of girls had already reached the mountaintop.

An ancient and solemn shrine appeared before everyone’s eyes. On both sides of the shrine’s entrance, there were stone statues resembling foxes. The shrine didn’t enshrine ordinary gods but rather Fox Immortals, the kind with nine tails.
