APJ Chapter 309 The burning Oden Castle

Due to Yamato’s carefree personality, the real injuries on her body might not be discovered for a while. Therefore, a few doctors have already received orders to conduct a comprehensive medical examination for Yamato.

Intimidated by Arceus’ name, Yamato obediently went to the Pokémon Center for a check-up, just like Maria and Jack. These rising stars among the new generation had always been highly regarded.

However, as they left, Yamato noticed the flames still burning on the horizon.

“Uncle Mandrell, why is it still burning over there?”

“That’s… Kuri. Don’t worry, Sir Zeraora is already headed there. I believe the fire will be extinguished soon.”

“Oh.”

Not long ago, when Kurozumi Orochi sent the signal, the undercover agent Kanjuro, who had been by Kozuki Oden’s side for years, sprang into action.

To enrage Oden, Orochi chose to target Oden’s family and even arranged for some individuals to pose as members of the Beasts Pirates to attack this place.

Apart from some retainers he had taken with him, Kanjuro, Kawamatsu, and Denjiro remained in the Oden Castle. Although the sounds of battle erupted in the Flower Capital, nothing significant happened here.

Until Kanjuro temporarily left by making an excuse.

Beneath Oden Castle, he took out his Tsuji Shibai to start drawing. Tsuji Shibai was Kanjuro’s weapon, appearing to be a sword, but with a massive brush tip at the end.

“Kakaka, feel the wrath of Kurozumi.”

Kozuki’s retainers only knew Kanjuro’s name but had no idea that his surname was Kurozumi. He hailed from a popular theatrical troupe, and his acting skills were truly outstanding.

However, because of his Kurozumi lineage, Kanjuro naturally got caught up in the rebellion orchestrated by Kurozumi Orochi’s grandfather.

After his parents died, Kurozumi Kanjuro lost his inner self and lived by impersonating others, resulting in his remarkable acting skills. He excelled at portraying anyone and found happiness only when completely embodying someone else.

In the field of performing arts, Kanjuro has almost become a demon. He harbors a strong hatred towards the person who killed his parents, although he has no idea who the murderer is.

When he heard that Orochi had killed the murderer of his parents, he was willing to follow Orochi to the death. However, Orochi is also closely related to the deaths of other members of the Kurozumi family.

Kanjuro and Orochi share a common trait – madness. Orochi had become so mad that he loathed everyone in Wano Country, regardless of whether they were Kurozumi or someone else.

As an undercover agent by Oden’s side, Kanjuro was deeply immersed in his role. He followed Oden’s orders obediently, as long as they did not conflict with Orochi’s commands. However, he has now received instructions from Orochi.

His Devil Fruit power activated, and flames appeared beneath Oden Castle.

He is a Paramecia-type user of the “Brush-Brush Fruit,” in simple terms, a low-grade version of “The Magic Brush.”

He could materialize things he drew, with Tsuji Shibai serving as his medium for drawing. If he didn’t have a brush, even his own hair could be used as one.

The appearance and abilities of objects drawn by the user are directly proportional to the user’s artistic skill. For someone like Usopp, who has a talent for drawing, this Devil Fruit would be highly suitable.

However, this ability has a dual nature. Exceptional skills can enhance the drawn object’s abilities, but if the drawing is too poor or ugly, it can directly impact the capabilities and functions of the created object.

Normally, Kanjuro’s drawings are incredibly ugly and abstract, not only making it difficult to unleash their true power but also prone to dissolving upon contact with water. The most practical thing he can do with it is to draw some cabbages to eat his fill.

Due to the rules of this world, it is not allowed to draw cabbages poorly.

However, he deliberately used his unskilled left hand to draw in order to conceal his ability. Now, he was using his right hand, and a lifelike flame had already been drawn.

“Kakaka, come out, Kazenbo!”

Kanjuro burst into maniacal laughter, and the burning of Oden Castle served as a signal to Orochi’s subordinates. However, his mission was just this, and afterward, he reverted to his original Kanjuro appearance.

“No, this is bad! Lady Toki! Someone’s attacking! They’ve also set fire to the castle!”

The current Kanjuro displayed no signs of being a spy. He was simply a loyal retainer. He dashed straight into the sea of flames, not even flinching when his hair was singed. He also slew several of Orochi’s men who approached him.

He wasn’t acting; he was truly killing his opponents.

The performance lasted a long time. Orochi had sent many people, and at this point, the three of them could barely protect Kozuki Toki’s safety. After a while, Kikunojo and Raizo returned with the unconscious Kin’emon and the others.

“Lady Toki, Lord Oden… Lord Oden has fallen in battle!”

Kikunojo cried out as she recounted what they had witnessed.

“Lady Toki, please, pack your things quickly. We need to get you out of here immediately; any further delay and it will be too late!”

The cries of battle from outside the door continued to draw nearer, and Kozuki Toki made a decision.

“You saying… go to the future?”

“That’s right, that day will come, so go ahead and wait 20 years in advance. Raizo, Kanjuro, I’ll leave Momonosuke and Kin’emon in your hands.”

In the end, she chose to send them to the future. As a user of the Time-Time Fruit, Kozuki Toki was originally from the past but she could only travel to the future, not the past.

“Lady Toki, what about you and Princess Hiyori?”

“We’re uncertain what the world will be like twenty years from now, so Momonosuke and Hiyori must be separated. But you can also do so if you’re worried about the future.”

“No, please trust us to protect Momonosuke-sama.”

Before Kozuki Toki could finish, Raizo took over the conversation. Then, they disappeared from Oden Castle under the effects of Kozuki Toki’s Devil Fruit ability. Kawamatsu also left Oden Castle with the unconscious Hiyori through the river.

The earlier fire had caused Hiyori to fall unconscious.

After everyone who needed to leave had done so, Kozuki Toki looked at the remaining retainers.

“Lady Toki, come with us. We’ll get you out.”

“No, only you will escape. Go without worry. This is my home, and I’ll draw their attention away from you.”

With those words, Kozuki Toki firmly rejected them and proceeded to the rooftop alone.

As others tearfully left as ordered, she shouted something from the top of Oden Castle. The destructive power of Kanjuro’s Kazenbo seemed overwhelming, and just as she finished speaking, Oden Castle collapsed with a loud rumble. Most of those who heard her words were the people of “Beasts Pirates.”

“Zeraora, what did that person say just now?”

“Probably some sort of prophecy.”

Having just concluded their business in the Flower Capital, Zeraora and Setsuna arrived here and were met with the sight of the collapsing Oden Castle.
