APJ Chapter 303 Things going awry without any surprise

As the final evolution of Squirtle, Blastoise’s power surpasses Squirtle in every aspect. The range of the two water cannons on its back is extremely wide, and their firepower is immense; they can even pierce through iron plates.

Furthermore, with the water temperature nearing boiling point, the damage caused by Blastoise is incredibly fearsome.

High-pressure water cannons are originally used to suppress riots; the scalding hot water released by Blastoise gave these people a ruthless lesson. Although there were no longer any pirate guard forces, the presence of these Pokémon Alliance troops kept the hospital and the family area safe from attacks by these thugs.

These scenes were not limited to just the Pokémon Center; they also occurred at Kuri’s farm and Kibi’s cotton plantation.

In Kuri, Kentaro family witnessed Miltank using Rollout to cause severe injuries to people. Ever since experiencing the vegetable thief incident involving Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, it seemed that the Miltanks had gained more expertise in dealing with such situations.

Kibi’s cotton plantation was relatively more peaceful, thanks to the Pokémon species that inhabited it.

The Pokémon here had relatively lower combat power, but the cotton from Eldegoss and Whimsicott had become their biggest hindrance as they moved forward, while the Jumpluff flying in the sky scattered powder.

Poison Powder, Stun Spore, Sleep powder, and various powder attacks mixed into the air, entering the bodies of those below with each breath they took, ultimately rendering them powerless to resist or fight back.

The battles here were all disorganized acts of riots that quickly subsided under the powerful suppression. However, in other places, there were still some organized actions.

Hospitals and plantations were primarily civilian institutions, housing a large number of Wano Country’s civilians. These thugs were lured by the substantial profits and wanted to loot them.

As for whether they could really rob what they needed, they weren’t entirely sure. After all, there were foolish thieves everywhere; some might rob a cell phone store only to discover they had stolen nothing but models.

But the organizers were different; their target was still the main stronghold of the Beasts Pirates. They had a clear idea of how many pirates were currently in Wano Country, and most of them were now in the Flower Capital, giving them a new target.

Present-day Wano Country has a unique place where the manpower of the Beasts Pirates was not very sufficient, and the people inside had no fondness for the Beasts Pirates. Ironically, it was a very important place – Udon stone quarry.

The Udon stone quarry had long been transformed by the Beasts Pirates into a prison-like facility, where they incarcerated a large number of thugs serving forced labor. Additionally, some pirates who had met defeat in battles outside were also imprisoned here to mine ores.

If they could breach this place, the pirates who had originally been imprisoned by the Beasts Pirates here could undoubtedly deal a massive blow to them. Although they might not necessarily follow orders, they were all enemies of the Beasts Pirates.

In order to hold back the formidable forces of the Beasts Pirates, Orochi’s Oniwabanshu and some additional personnel had arrived at the Udon stone quarry.

The Orochi Oniwabanshu was a direct subordinate force of Wano’s Shogun.Officially, the leader of this group should have been Kozuki Oden.

However, after Kurozumi Orochi obtained the position of acting shogun, this group chose to pledge allegiance to Kurozumi Orochi. This also led to one of the members, Shinobu, leaving the group and becoming a “rebel ninja” of Wano.

Apart from Fukurokuju, everyone else was sent here by Orochi. He had thought that with Kozuki Oden and Kurozumi Semimaru on his side, his safety would not be an issue. However, reality taught him a painful lesson.

Inside the Udon stone quarry, there still were members of Beasts Pirates stationed, even though most of the pirates from Onigashima had entered the Flower Capital. The number of pirates in Udon didn’t diminish, and Babanuki has also been here the whole time.

There were only a hundred pirates here, and while their numbers were small, they usually dealt with prisoners wearing shackles, and there was support from other nearby pirates, so they had enough manpower.

However, tonight’s war left them isolated and without support.

“Get it together! Tonight is crucial; Governor-General Kaido has promised a seven-day vacation for us. Someone will come and take over tomorrow!”

The prisoners had all been locked back in their cells, and in theory, this place was relatively safe. But, without any surprise, things were about to go awry.

Searchlights spotted the intruders’ tracks, but Babanuki remained calm.

The Udon stone quarry was a large pit dug into the exposed mountainside, surrounded by steep cliffs, with only one entrance and exit.

As long as they protected that gate, no outsiders could breach their defenses. However, Babanuki had underestimated the so-called Wano Country’s ninjas. They took advantage of the feint attack outside and managed to infiltrate.

These ninjas mostly relied on peculiar tools to carry out their so-called ninjutsu, but they have undergone much more training than the average person. While they might not excel in direct combat like samurai, they were skilled at covert infiltration and surprise attacks.

Although they had successfully infiltrated the Udon stone quarry, what happened next took them by surprise. Born as ninjas, they were adept at picking locks, and it didn’t take them long to pry open the doors of several prison cells.

But before they could celebrate, an alarm blared throughout the quarry, and at the same time, several round objects rolled down the hillside.

“Geoodude!”

These massive rocks were thrown by Geodude. Onix had long been sent underground beneath the Red Line; this area of Wano Country was not suitable for their growth. However, Geodude still lives here and, upon realizing that something was amiss below, they launched their attack.

The released prisoners were still wearing shackles and were of no help. The task of dealing with these Geodude fell to the ninjas of Oniwabanshu.

After dodging the rocks thrown by the Geodude, the ninjas couldn’t help but wonder.

“What are these strange creatures? Are these the kinds of monsters the Beasts Pirates have under them?”

As Orochi’s trusted followers, they had seen other Pokémon before, but these Rock-type Pokémon in the stone quarry were something they had never encountered before. Other Pokémon had animal or plant features, but these were different.

Aside from being able to move, Geodude had almost no animal-like features, leading them to conclude that these were indeed monsters.

“You guys go on and release the prisoners; we’ll handle this.”

The alarm here would soon attract the attention of the pirates. Even though their numbers were small, the arrival of more pirates could easily lead to mission failure. They had to release more prisoners before the enemy could react.

“Ninpo: Hell Biwa.”

Saying this, a female ninja launched an attack against the Geodude. Although it sounded quite majestic, it was actually a machine gun concealed within a biwa.

After these bullets struck Geodude, a few of them looked at each other, scratching their heads in confusion.
