APJ Chapter 294 The focus of the battlefield

When he looked in the direction of the approaching footsteps, a kanabo was already swinging towards him. Most buildings in Wano Country were not very tall, except for the Shogun’s palace and the residences of the daimyos. Most were two or three stories high.

Additionally, traditional architectural styles in Wano Country featured eaves that extended outward. For Yamato, these were places to leverage. With a few steps, she had already leaped up.

Looking at the gun in his hand, Yamato didn’t hesitate. She swung her kanabo at him. Instinctively, he used the gun barrel to block her attack, but whether it was the metal barrel or the wooden stock, they both shattered like biscuits under Yamato’s attack.

With a loud bang, the gun was smashed into two pieces, and the flying fragments left a bloody gash on his face.

“Was it you who fired the gun just now?”

Without waiting for a response, she swung Takeru towards the opponent’s head. She asked this question to every gun-wielding enemy she faced, but never waited for their reply. It was just a way to reaffirm her resolve before taking action.

However, this time, she had found the right target.

Her swing struck the target precisely, but it hit the opponent’s shoulder. However, with Kaido’s bloodline and several years of tempering, combined with the recently acquired power of a super rookie, and her newly crafted Takeru 5.0, her strike was far beyond what an ordinary person could withstand.

The bones in the shoulder shattered completely, and even his sternum cracked under the force. Only a portion of the arm remained connected by flesh, while the rest had been almost pulverized by the impact.

But the intense pain in his arm and the blood loss didn’t completely incapacitate him; instead, it triggered his ferocious nature.

“It was me! It’s a real shame that the shot didn’t kill you. I’ve been digging in those mines for two years. You people are unforgivable. Remember, my name is—”

Though he still retained his consciousness for the moment, the injury in his shoulder was far from ideal. Therefore, he assumed a do-or-die posture and drew the katana from his waist with his remaining right hand.

However, Yamato wasn’t interested in hearing his self-introduction.

“Thunder Bagua!”

Although she still couldn’t wrap her kanabo in lightning, her Armament Haki completely enveloped Takeru for the first time. The kanabo struck his chest, and with a dull thud, his chest caved in entirely, sending him flying backward.

“I have no interest in knowing the name of someone who harmed my family.”

Seeing the person who she didn’t even allow to state his name get sent flying, Yamato sprinted toward the area where other pirates and samurai were engaged in combat. True safety couldn’t be assured until those people were dealt with.

To reach her destination quickly, she chose to leap directly from the eaves. During this time, she saw many people lying unconscious inside the houses.

These were the common citizens living in the Flower Capital. Although many commoners were driven out from the Flower Capital by Orochi due to his schemes, there were still quite a few left, albeit with somewhat better financial circumstances.

Faced with the sudden outbreak of war, they instinctively chose to hide in their homes. Shortly after, they fell unconscious due to the effect of Yamato’s Conqueror’s Haki. Yamato didn’t pay them any attention, well aware that she couldn’t protect everyone with her strength.

“Do as much as you’re capable of” – this was the lesson Arceus taught her. While some saints might view this as selfish, for an individual, it was the best course of action.

On the outskirts, the battle between the samurai and pirates raged on. Most of these pirates were in their thirties or forties, and many of them had been quite young when they joined the Beasts Pirates and had experienced the rise of the Beasts Pirates.

They had taken part in the initial territorial disputes, engaged in artillery battle against the World Pirates, and vied for dominance with the remnants of the Golden Lion’s crew. Through these battles, they had not only survived but also grown to become the elite among the pirates.

Despite their smaller numbers, they had all experienced  large-scale battles. While the alliance of the samurai and thugs held a numerical advantage, the samurai and pirates engaged in back-and-forth combat, but most of the thugs were essentially cannon fodder.

Despite their fierceness, their impact on the battle was minimal.

The leader of this samurai alliance was a trusted retainer of Shimotsuki Yasuie, responsible for commanding this region’s allied army. As the battle began, he also noticed some issues; it seemed these pirates were well-prepared.

“Stop those people! Seal off the gap over there. You, take some men and capture those children. That must be Kaido’s daughter!”

While commanding, he also managed to cut down the pirate in front of him. Unlike the samurai wielding conventional swords, his weapon was a naginata, which proved more effective on this battlefield.

However, as he prepared to continue his attack, someone blocked his path.

“Step aside; I don’t fight women!”

He spoke with disdain as he faced the female pirate in front of him. But in the next moment, he paid the price for his contempt.

Two green leaf blades sprang from her elbow, cleaving his naginata into two pieces. Then, the leaf blades, with undiminished momentum, left a cross-shaped wound onto his armor.

“Follow me! Break through from here!”

“Gifters have arrived! Concentrate fire!”

The Gifters were originally spread out across the Flower Capital, helping to bolster the strength of the ordinary pirates. However, once news of the situation here spread, nearby Gifters began converging towards this area. In no time, Yamato’s location outside the palace became the second focal point.

Yamato’s identity was gradually spreading. The samurai alliance sought to capture Kaido’s daughter, while these pirates aimed to protect their crew’s young miss.

However, an unexpected development occurred at the defensive line. Contrary to what the samurai had anticipated, Yamato didn’t hide and attempt to escape; instead, she charged towards the battleground.

“Thunder…..Bagua!”

Once again, she sent two samurai flying. It was at this moment that she realized what Arceus had given her. Even without doing anything, her stamina was gradually recovering, surpassing what it was before by several notches.

Regular samurai couldn’t stop her at all. She broke through to the periphery like a flower blooming from the center.

“Miss Yamato!”

“You ba*tards, have you had too much to drink? You actually let Miss Yamato charge into this place alone. Although she’s not an officer, can’t you at least deal with these small fries?! Anyone with guts, charge with me!”

Seeing Yamato, the pirates were filled with high spirits. The leading Gifter began an insane exchange of blows, trading injuries for injuries.

Soon after, the pirates, led by the Gifter, tore open a gap in the direction of the samurai alliance. Although they were fewer in number, they managed to achieve a reverse encirclement.

“Rumble!”

The sky had been shrouded in dark clouds at some point, and the crimson streak on the horizon captured the attention of many. Kaido had transformed into an azure dragon, his enormous body soaring amidst the clouds.

“Worororo! This is war!”

Kaido’s maniacal laughter echoed throughout the Flower Capital, and then he unleashed a Blast Breath down below.
