APJ Chapter 262 Street Performer

When human traffickers abduct people, they don’t check who they are. Even if someone is a citizen of an allied kingdom, once they fall into their hands, they face the same fate. After all, Sabaody Archipelago has a human auction house.

The traffickers here don’t just kidnap; they openly rob and abduct.

Although the civilian areas are managed by the Marines, handling certain incidents during the night is difficult.

Once someone is taken into the lawless areas, even the Marines won’t put in much effort to search for them, unless the person in question has enough influence to warrant an order from the World Government or Marine Headquarters.

The Marines here sometimes adopt a laissez-faire attitude towards pirates, as long as they don’t commit outrageous acts that the Marines can’t ignore, they turn a blind eye to them.

The store manager’s report wasn’t even over yet and Shayna returned. Apart from some dried marks on her pants, she had no injuries.

“What happened?”

“Well, their ship’s quality was too poor. I intended to kick through the keel, but ended up plunging straight into the water.”

Several of the Beasts Pirates’ flagships were made from Treasure Tree Adam, and even the ones not made from it were crafted from high-quality wood. However, that group of pirates seemed to have just gone through a major battle, and their dilapidated ships had extremely low durability.

Afterward, Shayna and some Beasts Fruits employees went to prepare for the auction in two days, while Olga accompanied Arceus and the others to Bubble Park.

“Yamato, don’t run around. All of you stay close and don’t separate.”

They landed in the 30th Mangrove, and Bubble Park was located in the 33rd Mangrove. There was still some distance to cover, and there were other tourists on the island. However, a common point among all of them was that the parents kept a tight hold on their children, not allowing them to run around.

Wandering around freely like Yamato and her friends was a rare sight. Whenever they go outside, their Vivre Cards are in Olga’s possession, so even if they were taken, Olga could locate them, but that would create unnecessary trouble.

“Got it!”

Although she said that, judging from her actions, Yamato didn’t fully take it to heart. She was poking a resin bubble in front of her. These bubbles were naturally generated by the Mangrove trees and were a common sight in Sabaody Archipelago. They often appeared on the ground.

From time to time, people looked at Arceus and his group. Elizabeth in Inteleon form and Arceus himself easily attracted people’s attention, and the children who were here for the first time in Sabaody Archipelago were also excited.

However, those gazes quickly shifted away. All kinds of people, good and bad, were present here such as bounty hunters, pirates, Marines, human traffickers, and civilians.

Among them were the reckless rookies who had tried to snatch the ship spot and also some observant bounty hunters.

Their livelihood depended on hunting pirates for bounties, which required them to be familiar with pirate’s bounties. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to choose suitable targets.

Although bounties were not entirely correlated with strength, most pirates used them as a reference. While high bounties were tempting, having money was meaningless without one’s life.

“Hey, kids, would you like to ride the Bubble Bike? Rent one for just 500 Berries a day, or buy one for 10,000 Berries!”

The locals here were already used to the Bubble Bike, but it was evident that Yamato and her friends were here for the first time. So, this was an opportunity for the Bubble Bike salesman to make some money.

Bubbles were naturally generated in Sabaody Archipelago, and they simply provided a wooden frame for the vehicle, making it a profitable business with little investment. As long as they sold one, it was pure profit.

However, Bubble Bike could only be used within Sabaody Archipelago. Once the bubbles went beyond this range, they would burst. The locals were aware of this and rarely fell for this trick. So, the salesman usually targeted newcomers.

Moreover, there were new people arriving in Sabaody Archipelago every day, so they didn’t need to focus on repeat customers. Most of their sales were one-time deals.

The price of 10,000 Berries wasn’t very high, and they used this psychological tactic to deceive people into buying their Bubble Bikes.

“Hey, you’ve got the wrong target!”

The employees working for Beasts Fruits walked over. They had been following them for a while. Since they had been doing business here for years, they were familiar with everything.

However, they did not reveal the reason. After all, speaking the truth in front of tourists would mean cutting off the salesman’ source of income.

“Is the customer a local? In that case, I apologize. How about I rent you four Bubble Bikes for 1000 Berries?”

Doing business here came with certain unspoken rules among them. Beasts Fruits didn’t expose his method of making money, so he offered a discount.

“Manju! Manju! Grand Line Manju! Anyone want to buy them?” Sabaody Archipelago’s specialty red bean paste bun has a shelf life of three months, and they were nicknamed “Grand Line buns.” They were a hot-selling product here.

“Bubble Chocolate, floating chocolates!”

Even before reaching Bubble Park, the people behind were already carrying a bunch of bubbles. This was how Sabaody Archipelago residents replaced shopping bags. As long as they were still in Sabaody Archipelago, they didn’t have to worry about carrying shopping bags.

At this moment, they looked like a group of people selling balloons, each carrying bubbles filled with local products and souvenirs.

This was the result even after some were already sent to the Genesis.

As the tall Bubble Ferris wheel appeared in their sight, they finally arrived at Bubble Park.

They played in Bubble Park from daytime until nightfall, going through the attractions multiple times. The Beasts Pirates’ members didn’t disturb their playtime, but they kept an eye on them while Olga joined in and played with them as well.

She always tries these attractions whenever she comes to Sabaody Archipelago. In the past, she had almost gone insane from boredom inside the angler fish’s belly, so she held a certain interest in these attractions.

Although their excitement had not subsided, with the arrival of night, some attractions had closed. As they wondered where to go next, a singing voice caught Yamato’s attention.

A man with chestnut-green hair was singing in a corner of Bubble Park, with a guitar case in front of him containing a few scattered Berries.

Strumming his guitar lightly, he sang the classic lyrics:

“Yo-hohoho, Yo-hohoho,

Going to deliver Binks’ Sake,

Today, and tomorrow, our dreams through the night,

Waving our goodbyes, we’ll never meet again.”

Originally, this song was often accompanied by an accordion or violin, but he had changed it to a guitar. Although the song was somewhat modified, it blended well with the accompaniment.

However, the effect wasn’t that great, and most of the Berries in front of him were coins, with the largest being 500 Berry.

The song choice was good, but the singing location wasn’t very appropriate. After all, this particular song of the Binks’ Sake is known as the Pirate’s Song. However, soon, he received the largest denomination Berry of the day, which came from Yamato’s pocket money.
