The dust dispersed, and neither Master Victor nor Nanu was surprised—Persian appeared completely unharmed.
Only Soliera was at a loss for words. Such a powerful Draco Meteor, a move radiating such powerful energy… yet… it was completely unharmed?!
When she saw Altaria able to hold its own against Persian, Soliera’s gaze toward Terrance had already changed…..
“It seems I underestimated you. You really are something.”
Nanu was silent for a moment; continuing to drag this out with Terrance was really pointless.
“You want to see a Z Move, don’t you?” Nanu smiled for the first time, but that smile… in Terrance’s eyes, it couldn’t have been more eerie.
The next moment, Nanu extended his arm, revealing a bracelet inlaid with a pure Z-Crystal in everyone’s view.
“It’s happening now, huh.” Seeing Nanu’s action, Terrance’s heart tensed. He still remembered witnessing the power of the Rock-type Z Move before.
“Persian.”
Nanu called softly. Accompanied by specific movements, countless dark light rays rapidly gathered around him. These dark light rays quickly connected to Persian, and a powerful energy surge erupted out with a loud rumble.
“Black Hole Eclipse!”
The dark energy spread across the sky like a giant millstone, as if it was about to devour everything. Terrance’s pupils shrank; he had no doubt that if Altaria used any move, it would be futile—it would only be absorbed completely.
Black Hole Eclipse?!
Terrance murmured softly, Z Moves are really fascinating, “Altaria, block it!”
At this moment, everyone’s gaze was fixed on Altaria. The powerful dark energy engulfed Altaria almost instantly. Even from the ground, Soliera could feel the malice of that energy. Compared to the attack Blastoise had suffered… the power wasn’t even on the same level.
“Impressive power…” Master Victor muttered. Z Moves really were incredible.
Moves executed by consuming the Trainer’s stamina and the energy of Z Crystal… and then there was totem aura and Ultra Beasts. What secrets was Alola hiding?
“Altaria… it blocked it!” Suddenly, Soliera exclaimed in shock.
She rubbed her eyes hard. Thatmove just now—was it really something that could be blocked?!
“Chirp~~~” Altaria was covered in wounds all over its body, as if it had fallen into a black hole and been intensely washed by countless energies. It was now badly injured and seemed to have lost the strength to fight.
“That’s enough. I concede,” Terrance said.
“Concede?” Nanu raised his head. Although Altaria appeared to be severely wounded, its condition was undoubtedly much better compared to Soliera’s Blastoise earlier.
This Altaria had undergone special training in defense, which allowed it to retain the ability to fight. Unlike Blastoise, it wasn’t rendered powerless by a single deadly blow.
“Yes…” Terrance nodded. He had only wanted to see the power of a Z Move, which was why he let Altaria block it. Now that his goal was achieved, and given Altaria’s current condition, there was little point in continuing the battle. Thus, Terrance forfeited.
“If you give up, then you won’t get the Z Ring,” Nanu said.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m still not your match,” Terrance replied. He had noticed Persian’s condition—despite using a Z Move, it still had plenty of stamina. Meanwhile, Altaria’s overall condition had deteriorated significantly.
“Altaria, Roost.”
After issuing the command and waiting for Altaria to recover a little, Terrance immediately recalled it.
“Oh? You don’t seem to have a strong desire to win. What’s the matter? Don’t you want to own a Z Ring?” Master Victor asked curiously.
Winning would have earned him a Z Ring personally gifted by Nanu. How could Terrance resist such a temptation?
“No,” Terrance said with a bitter smile. “Even if I have a Z Ring, without completing the Island Challenge, if Z Crystal is once used, wouldn’t it get destroyed?”
“For now, I’d rather focus my energy on the main matters.”
Master Victor nodded. He had merely wanted to take advantage of the situation to help Terrance gain more experience, but since Terrance had his own ideas, he decided to trust him.
In truth, Terrance was indeed very interested in Z Moves, but he had also noticed a few drawbacks.
The first was the strange synchronized poses. From Terrance’s perspective as a transmigrator from Earth, performing such actions was… difficult to accept, unless he could find another way to resolve the issue.
The second was the long preparation time. Additionally, since using a Z Move required consuming most of the stamina of both the Pokémon and the Trainer, it couldn’t be practiced like a regular move. While it could play a decisive role in battle, its downsides might also lead to certain disadvantages.
If countered by an opponent, the Z Move would cause significant harm to the user’s side. Lastly, Terrance currently didn’t have extra time to undertake the Island Challenge. If he ever became free and remained interested in Z Moves, he might come back and think of a way.
“What a peculiar guy,” Nanu remarked indifferently. However, judging by his expression, he seemed to recognize Terrance’s strength, at least refraining from making comments like Terrance wasn’t strong enough to participate in the Island Challenge like he did with Soliera.
Soliera watched eagerly from the side… Suddenly, she felt that her achievement of being in the top 32 of the Indigo Plateau Conference was quite insignificant.
Even someone she initially thought was just an excellent Breeder had displayed such astonishing battle prowess.
“Soliera, right?” Master Victor said.
“I can tell you about a place which should likely have Sparkling Stones. If you’re lucky, you might find one.”
“In a certain area of Mount Hokulani…”
Nanu glanced at Master Victor and said, “I know that place. With this girl’s current strength, she could protect herself while searching, but even if she obtains a Sparkling Stone, the likelihood of passing the Island Challenge is still very low.”
“You haven’t changed a bit,” Master Victor said, shaking his head. He firmly believed everyone can improve- if this girl named Soliera worked hard, success wasn’t impossible. Discouraging people… that was never Victor’s way.
“I’m willing to give it a try,” Soliera said with a determined expression.
“You guys are impossible,” Nanu said with a resigned look, already preparing to leave. “I’m heading back to Po Town. If fate allows, we’ll meet again.”
Watching Nanu’s departing figure, Master Victor sighed and said, “He was once a member of the International Police. In some aspects, he’s very stubborn. If you want to earn his recognition, you’ll need to work hard.”
“I’ll tell you the rough location. Whether or not you can find a Sparkling Stone depends on you.”
After giving some advice to Soliera, who came from the Kanto region and wanted to take on the Island Challenge, Terrance and Master Victor parted ways with her. They still needed to stay at Mount Lanakila to wait for the Ice Vulpix to hatch.
Another day passed, and finally, the Ice Vulpix began to show signs of hatching.
