Letting out a pained cry, Dragonite retracted its arm, staring at Altaria in alarm. The opponent’s Dragon Claw was frighteningly powerful. The energy ripple paralyzed Dragonite’s arm, leaving it numb and unresponsive even now.
“Chirp!!!!!!”
“Chirp!!!!!!!!!!”
Just as Aaron and his Dragonite were still in shock over the power of Altaria’s Dragon Claw, Altaria, locking eyes with Dragonite, launched its second attack!
This time, a pink soundwave shot out. Its bizarre attack method left both Aaron and Dragonite baffled, having never encountered such a move before.
“Boom!!”
First, Dragonite was forced back by the Dragon Claw. Then, the strange pink soundwave, like a massive shockwave, struck Dragonite’s body. Dragonite’s eyes nearly rolled back as it was sent flying, barely managing to steady using its wings.
“How is this possible? Just a soundwave has such power—” Aaron’s expression changed as he shouted, “Dragonite, stay calm!”
Everything happened in the blink of an eye. The spectators couldn’t believe that such a powerful Pokémon as Dragonite could be blasted away by Altaria’s cry.
“What kind of move is that? Growl? Sing? That’s impossible!”
It wasn’t just Aaron who was stunned. Many Trainers pulled out their Pokédex to search for information on this mysterious move.
But in the end, all they could find was “No data available.”
“It’s over,” Terrance sighed softly. He had hoped Dragonite might surprise him, but it didn’t. If this had been the Altaria from two years ago, perhaps the two Pokémon could have fought a thrilling battle. But now… they were simply on different levels.
“Moonblast!”
Boom!!
Dragonite, having just stabilized its body, didn’t even have time to react. It was instantly enveloped by an energy beam that seemed to suppress its entire bloodline, leaving it stunned.
“Dragonite!!”
Moonblast, a Fairy-type move. A radiant moon appeared above Dragonite, gathering countless moonlights into a beam that delivered a fatal blow!!
Bang!!
Dragonite’s body was instantly engulfed in moonlight, turning into a dazzling white brilliance that radiated in all directions!!!
Facing an unknown move it had never encountered before, Dragonite didn’t even know how to resist. It could only let the terrifying energy beam invade its body. Aaron’s Dragonite was instantly covered in countless wounds from the explosion, as the combined assault of Disarming Voice and Moonblast struck it simultaneously. Even Dragonite, at this moment, had become incredibly weak.
Aaron still had no idea what had just happened. He never knew that Altaria could use a sound-based move, nor did he know what that strange moon was.
“Whooo~~~~~~~~”
Altaria flapped its wings, continuing to hover in the air. The moon had gradually disappeared, but the sparkling moonlight still lingered, as if celebrating Altaria’s victory.
Whether it was Aaron himself, the other Trainers, or the surrounding media, everyone was left speechless!!
The ace Pokémon of the Ever Grande Conference’s runner-up, Dragonite—one of the rarest Pokémon in the Kanto Region—had been utterly suppressed and ruthlessly defeated by Altaria?!
No one could have imagined that what was expected to be an evenly matched battle would end with Dragonite being defeated in such an ignominious manner!!
“What on earth was that move?”
Many were still puzzled by it. Everyone had witnessed the power of that move—it had caused Dragonite to cry out in agony, proving to be super effective!
A move with such immense power would be coveted by any Trainer.
“Even the Ever Grande Conference runner-up was easily defeated by him. Just how strong is he?!”
By now, the media’s cameras had abandoned all pretense of subtlety, capturing every detail of Altaria’s dominant victory over Dragonite.
The two Fairy Type moves Altaria had learned from its mother over the course of four months were now being revealed to the public for the very first time!
Though still not fully mastered, the moves’ effectiveness in battle had exceeded even Terrance’s expectations.
“In just four months, not only did Altaria inherit all of its mother’s battle experience and comprehended the moves, but with the immense resources I’ve invested, its current base strength rivals what it could achieve after a single Dragon Dance four months ago. It’s control over its powers had also significantly improved.”
Terrance calmly enjoyed the astonished gazes of the surrounding Trainers. By now, Altaria’s strength was on a whole new level. To defeat even the ace Pokémon of the Ever Grande Conference runner-up with such ease—there was likely no rival among its peers anymore.
To find a Pokémon that could match Altaria, one would have to look to the seasoned Trainers of the Champion League, those vying for the Elite Four positions.
But among those Trainers, how many were under fifteen? Even those under twenty were rare.
As for Trainers who had only recently entered the Champion League, their Pokémon wouldn’t differ much from Aaron’s Dragonite, and thus, they wouldn’t stand a chance against Altaria.
“Wow!! Incredible!!” The children from Old Green House were ecstatic, shouting out in excitement and cheering wildly for Terrance.
Aaron, who had confidently entered the arena, left with deep unwillingness. Even until the end, he couldn’t believe he had been defeated so easily.
The strength of the Ever Grande Conference’s runner-up—when did he became so fragile? He began to doubt himself.
“Is there no one else?”
After the forfeiture of Challenger Number 7, the stadium fell into a brief silence following Aaron’s match.
No one stepped forward.
Altaria’s display of power had already proven its strength. Any Trainer who isn’t blindly overconfident, after witnessing the battle between Altaria and Dragonite and assessing their own capabilities, would surely think twice. Unless they believed they were at the level of The Ever Grande Conference Champion, who would dare to step forward and risk being instantly defeated in front of so many people?!
“Number 9… forfeits.”
Scarlet slowly announced. Terrance raised his hand, saying, “I plan to switch Pokémon.”
From the current situation, it was clear that most Trainers had been intimidated by Altaria’s overwhelming defeat of Dragonite and didn’t dare to challenge him. Although Terrance hoped to use only Altaria to sweep through the remaining opponents, that would be too arrogant. Among the Trainers present, there were likely still some who were stronger than Aaron—it just wasn’t their turn to act yet.
Altaria, as Terrance’s ace Pokémon, needed to recover its stamina for the time being. Besides, it was only fair to give his other Pokémon a chance to showcase their strength. After all, they had trained hard for this moment.
Terrance’s request to switch Pokémon brought relief to many. Perhaps Terrance’s next Pokémon might be easier to deal with?
Challenger Number 10 stood up nervously, his face somewhat pale. If not for his friends nearby who knew his assigned number, he might have considered forfeiting too. But now that everyone knows, running away without a fight would only bring more shame.
With a slight sigh, the Trainer in the blue shirt could only hope that Terrance’s next Pokémon would be friendlier than Altaria.
Hopefully….
