PC Chapter 170 Trainer’s School

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

While Pokemon are still growing, most of the Pokemon that Trainers capture, such as the Pidgey and Geodude found along the roadside, require excellent nurturing to develop.

The strength of most Trainers can only support them in capturing these types of Pokemon.

However, the drawback is that these Pokemon generally have low talent. Despite being common and widespread, nurturing them well poses a significant challenge for Trainers.

On the other hand, Pokemon with high potential which haven’t grown up yet, like the Swablu back then, clearly had a powerful Altaria guarding them, making them not easily capturable by just anyone.

The number of weak and ordinary Pokemon is extremely large, and it can be said that they form the basic framework for the lowest level of the wilderness.

On the other hand, powerful Pokemon capable of dominating a territory stand above these ordinary Pokemon.

“We’re about to enter the Rusturf Tunnel. This tunnel is inhabited by at least dozens of Geodude, but not a single Graveler. You can imagine how attractive fully developed Pokemon are to Trainers.”

If conditions permit, Terrance prefers to capture young Pokemon, even starting from nurturing Pokemon eggs.

He enjoys the nurturing process while also aiming to form a strong bond with Pokemon during this journey.

This is something that Trainers solely pursuing powerful Pokemon do not possess.

However, it doesn’t mean that this is the best choice. There are also Trainers who seek powerful Pokemon, and their charisma and strength can make these Pokemon submit and follow their commands, which can accelerate their growth tremendously.

But capturing Pokemon at the level of Mt. Chimney’s Altaria is quite challenging.

The more mature the Pokemon, the more mature their thoughts become. Submitting to humans is generally done by these “common Pokemon” that would have a hard time surviving in the wild.

Once they become powerful enough for the wild, there’s no reason for them to become human’s Pokemon.

And even if they can’t win a battle, they can always flee.

Rusturf Tunnel’s area is vast, and the fact that Pokémon can still wander into a man-made tunnel is evidence that there are quite a few Pokémon living in this area.

But currently, it’s not the time to venture into the mountain range to find the desired Pokemon. Although there was a hurry, he still has one year.

This kind of thing…it depends on fate.

“Would either of you like to have a battle?”

After exiting Rusturf Tunnel, one of them suggested having a battle since there wasn’t enough space inside the tunnel.

But as soon as they stepped out, the open grassland and ground became a perfect outdoor battlefield.

It would be a regret not to have a battle in this place.

So, the two began their battle, and Terrance, using an excuse, bid farewell to them.

“Huh? There are quite a few Trainers here.”

Perhaps because this area is on the edge of the mountain range and has many Pokemon roaming about, the number of Trainers here has increased significantly.

There were Trainers in mountain climbing gear and there were some in cool shorts. In short, Terrance encountered quite a few people on his way.

Similar to the reason before, the open grassland and ground make it a perfect outdoor battleground. Perhaps another reason is that there are too few places to battle in the city, so these Trainers gather here to enhance their combat skills.

“Um……”

Terrance, who was preparing to go resupply at the Pokemon Center, was suddenly called out.

Turning around, Terrance found a young man he didn’t recognize.

Although not entirely clear, Terrance found the young man somewhat familiar.

The young man’s words that followed completely confirmed Terrance’s suspicion. Clearly, the reason the young man called out to Terrance was because he also found Terrance familiar.

One person being familiar might be a coincidence, but if both recognize each other, it’s not likely accidental.

After careful consideration, the two finally realized each other’s identities.

Close to two years ago, during the Rusturf Tunnel incident, they had a brief encounter.

The young man’s name is A’Yue, an apprentice from Rustboro Gym. At that time, along with three others, he, Terrance, and the rest encountered the trouble caused by Whismur.

“Long time no see.”

They greeted each other with smiles.

Although Terrance and A’Yue didn’t have a deep connection, they were Trainers who had a chance encounter. Upon learning that Terrance was here to challenge a Pokemon Contest, A’Yue was surprised initially but ultimately decided to act as a guide and show Terrance around Rustboro City.

After a brief chat, Terrance realized that A’Yue had a very warm personality. Considering that the Pokémon Contest was still some time away, Terrance didn’t refuse the offer and expressed his gratitude.

However, the most pressing matter at the moment was to register for accommodation at the Pokemon Center.

……

“So, Terrance, where would you like to visit first?”

“How about Rustboro Gym?”

When Rustboro Gym was mentioned, A’Yue smiled. “I’ll be honest with you. Rustboro Gym recently got a new Gym Trainer, and she happens to be my junior.”

As someone from Rustboro Gym, A’Yue has a special attachment to it. His tone noticeably changed when talking about Rustboro Gym. In fact, he even encouraged Terrance to engage in the Gym Battle.

“Junior?”

However, Terrance quickly changed the topic, picking up on other keywords from A’Yue’s words.

“Yeah, Trainer’s School. Before entering Rustboro Gym, I studied at Rustboro City’s Trainer’s School.”

“And this school is also funded by Rustboro Gym.”

Terrance carefully recollected and found that a similar situation had occurred in Snowpoint City in Sinnoh.

Snowpoint City also had a Trainer’s School, and similarly, it had intricate connections with the local Gym. This immediately piqued Terrance’s interest. Rather than visiting the Gym, he was more eager to visit the school.

Being from Crown Academy, Terrance was eager to explore these city-based Trainer’s Schools and understand the differences compared to the well-established regional academies.

Upon inquiring with A’Yue, the latter was surprised but gladly approved of Terrance’s choice.

After listening to A’Yue’s explanation, Terrance understood that this Trainer’s School often invited traveling Trainers to share their experiences with the children. It was a way for the students to absorb some practical knowledge.

For a Trainer willing to visit voluntarily, it was something the Trainer’s School would never decline.

Trainer’s School was located above a huge fountain in Rustboro City, making its location very conspicuous. Many outsiders were gathered near the massive fountain to watch, resulting in a considerable crowd in the area.

Guided by A’Yue, the two maneuvered through the crowd, heading towards the Trainer’s School.
