Although it was only his second time stepping onto the stage, Terrance no longer felt that sense of novelty.
Feeling the intense atmosphere at the venue, Terrance noticed that not only were there more participants compared to the Hearthome Conference in Sinnoh a year ago, but there were also more spectators.
“It’s Terrance-senpai!” In the lobby, Sora exclaimed as she saw the figure appear on the big screen. She slowly stood up and eagerly watched the performance venue.
Having watched many contestants’ performances by now, Sora had a vague idea about Terrance’s skills.
So far, no contestant had been able to control their moves as skillfully as Terrance’s Beautifly.
“If only I could be as amazing as Terrance-senpai…” Sora stared fixedly at the broadcast on the screen.
…
“Huu… Beautifly, it’s your turn again,” Throwing out the Poké Ball, Terrance’s Beautifly began to dance joyfully.
As soon as Beautifly appeared, it caught the attention of three judges.
“This Beautifly has been raised to be the best in this Pokémon Contest,” Nurse Joy remarked.
“Mmm… indeed, quite impressive.” Raoul Contesta’s eyes also lit up. Having watched a lot of performances, he was really starting to get bored.
“Remarkable!” Mr. Sukizo’s eyes had widened a bit.
Apart from Nurse Joy, Mr. Raoul Contesta, the Chief of the Contest Committee and Mr. Sukizo, the president of the Pokémon Fan Club, were responsible for judging dozens of contests held in a year.
Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh; as more and more cities began to hold Pokémon Contests, these two became increasingly busy.
One of them was responsible for the senior management of Pokémon Contest, while the other is the head of an association closely related to Pokémon Contest. It can be said that they have been in charge of Pokémon Contests for nearly a decade.
Whether Pokémon Contests could continue to develop harmoniously and effectively was their primary concern.
Comparing Coordinators with Trainers might seem unfair, but it was inevitable that people would bring it up.
This was also the most headache-inducing issue for the senior management responsible for the contests. As a secondary profession that developed later than Trainers, Coordinators had always held a lower status.
Therefore, the senior management responsible for Pokémon Contest were always eagerly seeking out outstanding Coordinators to nurture.
This was also why Raoul Contesta and Mr. Sukizo frequently attended various contests. Even if they were in pain and weary, as loyal supporters of Pokémon Contest, they devoted all their energy to its development.
Contestants and spectators often criticize that these two uncles seem rather dull, with minimal commentary. Some comments even seem quite perfunctory.
But it couldn’t be helped; they have too many Pokémon Contests to judge but not enough energy, and unless they came across a potential, exceptionally talented Coordinator, it was hard to get them excited.
And the Beautifly released by Terrance has achieved that to some extent now.
Following Terrance’s command, Beautifly casually released a large mass of silk into the sky.
Though it seemed casual, to those with discerning eyes like the three judges who had long been involved in Pokémon Contests, it was not merely a simple move.
Small details, seemingly casual actions, could demonstrate a Pokémon’s mastery of a certain move.
Natural and smooth.
When Beautifly unleashed its move, they thought of this phrase.
As the large mass of silk was spat into the sky, a gentle breeze lifted it up, then Beautifly flapped its wings…
Air Cutter!
Like flashing blades, the wind blades swiftly surged towards the sky.
Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap!
The wind blades struck the silk, not with the muffled sound the audience imagined, but swiftly and sharply. After a burst of light, the silk, densely gathered together, were quickly sliced into thin strips the length of fingernails.
“It’s the final step,” Terrance thought as he observed the changes in the sky.
“Whoosh~”
Beneath the scattered fragments of silk, a silver storm swept upward like a gaping maw, swallowing the fragments whole.
Wooooo~~~~~~
In the vast expanse of the sky, the whirlwind gathered the silk fragments, creating an empty space between Beautifly and Silver Wind.
The fragments of silk were gathered together by the Silver Wind, resembling a constantly rolling wave of shimmering silver, incredibly dazzling.
“Whoosh~” “Whoosh~” “Whoosh~”
As everyone was entranced by the seamless sequence of moves, the wind dispersed.
Amidst the swarm of silver powdery scales, the white fragments of silk appeared like sparkling treasures falling into the human world, fluttering and falling like scattered flowers.
“Morning Sun—”
With Terrance’s final command, Beautifly danced amidst the falling “silver meteor shower”, emitting a radiant glow from its entire body under the Morning Sun’s light. At that moment—
The entire venue erupted!!!
Cheers, shouts, applause, various words of admiration burst forth in different ways.
This was the most extraordinary performance in this Pokémon Contest.
This performance gave every spectator a unique feeling.
In the silver meteor shower, Beautifly’s graceful dance, combined with the thin veil of Morning Sun, created an irresistible beauty, as if stepping into a painting.
So….this is a real Pokémon Contest!!
This is…a real Coordinator!
“This… this… this… this is simply heavenly!!! Oh my, it’s so beautiful,” Vivian almost forgot to do her commentary, immersed in Beautifly’s performance, but the thunderous applause from the audience instantly brought her back to reality.
Vivian was excited. As the announcer for the Pokémon Contest, this was the kind of thrill she had been looking for.
Simply amazing!!
“This…”
Even the three judges momentarily forgot to score.
Raoul Contesta almost stood up, Mr. Sukizo’s eyes widened, now they both had forgotten the fatigue from constantly traveling to Pokémon Contests in various regions.
Terrance’s performance ignited the magnificent spirit within everyone’s hearts!
“This is the seed of a Top Coordinator!”
Both of them, after watching Terrance and Beautifly’s performance, came to this conclusion.
In Terrance, they saw the shadow of a Top Coordinator, an aura that none of the other Coordinators possessed!
Why did Raoul Contesta and Mr. Sukizo often attend, or rather, almost go to judge every Pokémon Contest? It was to discover seedlings like Terrance, who have the potential to become Top Coordinators.
And then guide these individuals, prevent them from “going astray,” and hope they can continue to develop and grow in Pokémon Contests as Coordinators.
That was their entire purpose.
10 points, 10 points, 10 points!
