OPTM-Chapter 404 Rowen vs. Teach

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

On the nameless island, deep within the cavern.

The sound of falling sand and rocks echoed, with debris flying everywhere around Teach’s position, creating a scene of utter devastation.

The Thunder Dragon Crescent-sided Halberd had carved a gaping wound into his shoulder, and blood flowed freely down the wall, quickly forming a small puddle on the ground.

The Iron Hook on his right hand was severed in the midst of blocking, allowing Teach to avoid being cut in half.

“What’s the matter? Running out of steam already?” Rowen kicked aside the rubble blocking his path, embedding the thunder halberd into the ground, leaving a long trench with each step he took.

Stopping three meters away from Teach, Rowen halted his steps.

The Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit was personally selected by Rowen for Teach. Rowen knew full well the abilities of this fruit used for turning the tables. Despite Teach’s severe injuries, there seemed to be no effect at all.

Rowen had stated that this was CP0’s trump card for turning the tide. If it were so easily defeated, wouldn’t it be a laughing stock?

“Hahaha, shouldn’t I be asking you that question?” Teach, seeing that Rowen was still unwilling to approach and had abandoned thoughts of a sneak attack, lifted his head and smirked wickedly. “Even if I’m beaten to a pulp, as an Undying, the Marine Soryu (Azure Dragon) is no match for me!”

Hua la!

With only a piece of flesh connecting his arm, Teach ripped it out from the shattered rocks, falling to the ground. Blood and flesh proliferated at the wound site, quickly knitting the scar into shape.

This was the first ability of the Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit, a rapid recovery effect similar to Rowen’s healing ability.

From the information he had received, unless the Ability user was completely disintegrated and turned to ash, any injury could be healed, regardless of severity.

However, unlike Rowen’s irrational life recovery, from the moment Teach consumed the Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit, he ceased to be human and became a “Humanoid Sacrifice.”

How does one define death for a clump of mud?

Just reshape it and it’s as good as new.

So, while these two recovery abilities seemed similar in effect, they were actually quite different.

Moreover, neither rapid recovery ability was perfect.

Rowen’s healing required the consumption of energy and nutrients from within his body. If there wasn’t enough energy supply, the self-devouring nature of his healing ability would consume him.

Just the thought of that extreme hunger terrified Rowen, and he didn’t yet know the consequences of being consumed by self-devouring.

The Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit Ability user, on the other hand, was not even considered human and required the consumption of natural, non-nutritive substances. It was more like “sacrifice” than consumption.

Each time they healed, a part of the Ability user’s body would be sacrificed. The amount sacrificed varied depending on the severity of the injury, but it was certain that even a deadly attack that smashed them into minced meat would only sacrifice a third of their internal organs.

So, a single killing blow was definitely not enough to deal with an Undying Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit Ability user… but frequent infliction of damage would lead to their swift demise!

Clang!

The thunder halberd, like a thunderbolt, pierced through Teach’s head.

The previous injuries had caused Teach to lose his right eye. Seizing the opportunity, Rowen thrust his halberd from the blind spot in Teach’s vision, dealing another heavy blow.

Pa Ji!

The top of Teach’s skull was severed and fell to the ground. However, Teach remained in place, still wearing a cold smile.

“Hahaha! Soryu (Azure Dragon), do you really think I’m powerless against you?” With nothing on his head from the bridge of his nose upwards, it would be quite shocking for a normal person to see, but Rowen wasn’t surprised at all, having zero internal data on hand.

Shua!

Once again, Rowen slashed horizontally, cutting Teach into two halves.

“Not enough yet!” Teach, who had suffered successive heavy blows, laughed savagely as he climbed to his feet, suddenly swinging his fist at Rowen.

Before the fist wind arrived, the terrifying tremor caused cracks to appear in the void between the two, reminiscent of facing Whitebeard’s Misconception. Rowen quickly retrieved his thunder halberd and placed it in front of him to block the attack.

Bang!

The resounding echo shook the entire rock layer, with Rowen’s feet sinking into the ground and his arms going numb.

This was the second ability of the Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit…

The more body parts sacrificed, the stronger the consumer became!

There were only two outcomes for a Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit Ability user.

The first was to do nothing and linger on.

Waiting for the body to be gradually transformed into a living sacrifice, becoming a fool who could withstand a punch that could shatter an island but lacked any semblance of reason or emotion, standing still and allowing oneself to be slaughtered.

This outcome would also see a tremendous increase in strength, but it would only increase gradually over time.

The second was to use the ability multiple times or sustain multiple injuries, rapidly sacrificing the body and quickly reaching the strength possessed by the first outcome.

However, the sacrificed body parts would not grow back, and the healing of injuries was subject to random sacrifice beyond the user’s control! For example, Teach’s right eye, which was now just a black hole…

There was probably no one who would willingly give up something like an eye.

If the next sacrifice were to be his brain, a lump of flesh devoid of thought, with strength comparable to Whitebeard’s, what threat would he pose?

It could be described as wicked to the fullest.

It was also the ultimate fate of all CP0 consumers. After the crisis, they would need their own people to help them break free.

Kuang Dang…!

Blocking the fist, Teach raised the half of his Iron Hook on his right hand and smashed it down at Rowen, who immediately raised his arm to block the attack with the painted pole, then infused his right leg with lightning and whipped out a thunderous kick.

Boom!

A slight sensation of pain struck, and to Rowen’s surprise, a fleshy-colored shield appeared in front of Teach. The texture felt like it was wrapping around muscle, skin, and bone, but no ordinary creature could grow a diamond-shaped shield capable of withstanding his Super Electromagnetic Cannon kick.

This was the final ability of the Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit used for turning the tables.

Freedom to do as one pleases! Just like in Mustache Town, where Teach’s right fist produced explosions, as long as he was willing to sacrifice his body, he could create various attack methods, adapting flexibly and almost impossible to target.

Ignoring vital points, growing stronger with each hit, and attacking in ways that were unstoppable.

Only when these three abilities were combined could CP0 turn the tables in critical situations.

Although the side effects were terrifying to the extreme, for an organization like CP0 that was not lacking in expendable soldiers, this was the best trump card.

In order to get CP0 to produce this fruit, Lirisk even personally went to find another figure known as the “CP0 Two Mountains” and promised many conditions.

“Hahaha! Hungry, are we? Soryu (Azure Dragon)!”

Teach blocked the attack with the shield that grew from his chest, causing a portion of his chest cavity to collapse, sacrificing two pairs of floating ribs below the twelve pairs of ribs, causing each breath he took to result in a bizarre curvature of his chest.

This was the correct way to use the Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit, starting with some unimportant limbs and bones, and preserving combat effectiveness as much as possible.

Rather than like in Mustache Town, where he wasted a hand to create an indiscriminate explosion.

The fist swung again, and the formidable Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki) formed a visible “glove” outside the skin.

Thud! The punch was so fast it was almost at its limit, but still within Rowen’s reaction time. With Thunder Cloud Dragon patterns enveloping him, a Goro Goro no Mi (Thunder Thunder Fruit) Ability user was just this tricky.

With a thought, Rowen appeared behind Teach.

Blink!

And then…

Human Artillery!

With both hands pressed against Teach’s back, a blue electric light began to flow. Teach looked astonished as the wall was blown open by the force of the punch, creating a pitch-black corridor, then everything spun before his eyes.

Swish… Bang!!

Teach, propelled by the force, plunged straight into the rock layers, disappearing into the distance.

Boom Rumble!

At this moment, the cavern roof above Rowen began to collapse, with rocks falling in large quantities. Although the two had only used their fists and feet against each other temporarily, every collision between movers of their caliber generated waves akin to a natural disaster.

Previously, the cave had been able to withstand the pressure by dispersing it through its sturdy structure. However, after Rowen shot through who knew how many walls with human artillery, the cave finally couldn’t hold on any longer.

“An open space is more conducive to me unleashing my power…”

With this thought, Rowen transformed into a thunderbolt and flew towards the breached passage.

On the nameless island, at the corner of the volcano.

As the cavern collapsed in succession, the terrifying aftermath affected the fragile balance inside the volcano, and a thick smoke billowed from the crater, followed by a “Boom” as a large amount of magma erupted.

At this moment, a thunderbolt shot through the rock layers from the corner of the volcano and shot out. Teach’s left hand clung tightly to the painted pole surrounded by electric light, preventing himself from being pierced.

“Ha!”

After landing, Teach rooted his feet in the ground and suddenly exerted force, plowing a trench into the ground. However, with the help of the fulcrum, the painted pole finally came to a stop.

At this point, after multiple sacrifices, he had sacrificed his entire right hand, exchanging it for another increase in strength, which was almost on par with Rowen’s monstrous power forged through years of training.

“Hahaha, this power!”

Teach laughed savagely. “Soryu (Azure Dragon), do you regret using this fruit to scheme against me?”

Although sacrificing his body made him feel like he was stepping into the Gates of Hell, the enormous power he gained made it difficult for him to let go, even suppressing the little panic in his heart.

The Sacrifice-Sacrifice Fruit was truly the Devil Fruit!

Even the cunning and suspicious “Blackbeard” Teach could not resist this addictive enhancement.

“Regret? Regret against a short-lived ghost with only a year to live?”

Facing Teach’s provocation, Rowen, Cold-Cold Issho, uttered the words that infuriated Teach. The thunder dragon crescent-sided halberd crackled with electricity, and a dazzling burst of lightning burst forth, soaring into the sky.

Outdoors, Rowen could finally unleash his full power.

Thunder Cloud Qilin!!
