On the Qilin ship, in Rowen’s office:
Thin blue smoke rose in a straight line and crashed into the ceiling, slowly spreading throughout the room as Rowen calmly sat on the sofa, puffing on a cigar, his face practically saying, “What can you do to me?”
Seeing this scene, Garp, who had been frowning since he entered, couldn’t help but twitch his mouth. He knew that it was time to get serious.
Thump!
Slamming his hand on the table, Garp glared coldly at Rowen as he spoke. “Rowen! Do you even realize what you’ve done?!”
After finishing his words, Garp stared at Rowen relentlessly, warning him to be honest.
In the face of this scene, Rowen slowly raised his head from behind the newspaper.
Exhaling a smoke ring, Rowen continued to lower his head and read the newspaper, ignoring Garp’s shocked and angry gaze.
Tsk…!!
This brat really gets on my nerves!
Having practiced Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki) for many years, the intertwining Haki on Garp’s fists made his old face turn red, causing Rowen’s scalp to tingle in an instant.
“50-50…”
“What?!”
“I want at least fifty percent!”
“That’s impossible!”
As the conversation unfolded, Garp decisively shook his head. “Giving you 10% is already generous enough. Sengoku said we should take 90%!”
“90%?!!” Rowen was shocked, dropping his cigar to the ground without even realizing it. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Why don’t you guys just rob a Celestial Dragon?!!”
“Hah! Robbing a Celestial Dragon wouldn’t get us the money as quickly as taking it from you not to mention that it would be illegal!” Garp sneered, shamelessly making Rowen dumbfounded.
Since the topic was out in the open, Garp was too lazy to put on airs. He sat behind the desk without any grace, placing his feet on the table, acting like it was his own space. “Don’t think Sengoku is a fool. You brat… Even the Gorōsei (Five Elder Stars) can see through your little schemes just by reading the reports!”
“40% of the 90% money will be handed over to the Marines, and you will be provided with the rest and you will also give half of your income to the Marines! Otherwise, the investigation order will turn into an arrest warrant tomorrow!”
“Heh, and don’t think you can fool me. The specific numbers are not entirely up to you…”
Rowen replied with a sneer, raising four fingers. “40%, that’s all I want! The G-10 Marine Branch has thousands of people waiting to be fed!”
“The Marine Headquarters will provide them with military funds. Is it necessary for you to support them?”
Garp snorted disdainfully, rejecting him. Then he looked thoughtful for a moment and said, “But considering you went through the trouble, 8.5%, not a penny more!”
“Are you treating me as someone who pockets money for personal use? Is 3.5 percent enough for you to be considerate?!”
“No, too little! I won’t be able to account for that when I return…”
“Still too little? That’s not enough to satisfy anyone, you cannot be too greedy Vice Admiral Garp!”
“I don’t want to hear that from you, Vice Admiral Rowen!”
Afterward, the old and the young engaged in a close conversation about the distribution issue. There were sounds of fighting during their dispute and passing soldiers marveled at the power of the two. Surprisingly, they didn’t even smash through the walls despite the fierce fight.
Finally, Rowen walked out with two panda-like eyes, followed by Garp, whose face was glowing.
Garp was in a good mood, and he patted Rowen’s shoulder in an unprecedentedly friendly manner. He smiled and said, “Alright, you can go back now. During the investigation, you can’t leave the G-10 Marine Branch without authorization, you know?”
“Yes…”
Rowen brushed off Garp’s hand, glared at him, and then walked toward his room.
This old asshole really didn’t hold back! He felt a bit dizzy now.
Suddenly, Garp picked his nose and flicked a booger away, casually reminding Rowen, “By the way, that guy named Bege, the Gorōsei (Five Elder Stars) said he died in the attack over ten days ago. Do you know what that means?”
“Don’t worry, I’ve taken care of it. I’m not stupid.”
Rolling his eyes at this, Rowen didn’t even bother to look back as he waved his hand and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
“This brat…”
Garp crossed his arms and shook his head helplessly.
Aside from various bold actions that would give Sengoku a shorter life, Rowen was undoubtedly one of the most outstanding members among the younger generation of Marines, without a doubt!
With formidable strength and an upright personality, he never pocketed any of the wealth obtained from Jaya Island or Dressrosa. The higher-ups in the Marines were well aware of this; otherwise, how could Sengoku pretend to be deaf and dumb to his actions?
As a core member being groomed by the upper echelons, Sengoku wouldn’t allow Rowen to be grouped with those Marine scum.
But even though they understood the reason, they couldn’t help but feel concerned about his ability to stir up trouble in any direction he went…
‘He still needs to temper his temperament a bit more!’ Garp sighed, suddenly thinking of the belly that fell into his hands and a strange smile appeared on his face.
“Haha, you didn’t expect that the Gorōsei (Five Elder Stars) actually didn’t specify how much Marine should hand over, you cheeky brat!”
“Hmph!”
Back in his room, Henry had been waiting for a while for Rowen.
“Have you finished counting the Seastone?” Rowen asked.
“We’ve already calculated it. They are atleast worth approximately 1,000,000,000,000 to 1,300,000,000,000 Belly… Only three parts less than the cash we found.” Henry reported respectfully, his eyes gleaming when it came to Belly.
“Very well, secretly take it to the Black Market and sell it! It’s best to sell it all to the spies Marine has planted in the Black Market…”
A strange smile appeared on Rowen’s face as well.
“Old Asshole, you want to challenge me?!”
“This move is called ‘biding our time while making secret arrangements’… All is fair in war!!”
