“What’s this?” Arthur looked at the so-called big surprise that Peter Quill had brought out and was a bit puzzled.
The item appeared to be a small engine, looking rather unremarkable. However, Peter was visibly excited: “Hey! Have you heard of the Sovereign?”
“Hmm… The golden glittering race?”
Arthur remembered the Sovereign from *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2*. They had asked Peter and his team to protect a power source from some animal.
“Exactly!”
Peter nodded and removed a panel from the device. Golden light burst forth: “Look, it’s a Sovereign-made power unit with a steel-titanium battery as its core! The energy generated by this thing could let you fly straight back to Earth!”
Arthur blinked, visibly moved: “This thing must be very valuable, right?”
“Of course, it’s incredibly valuable. In fact, if the vendor hadn’t been killed by the Kree, I wouldn’t have gotten my hands on it.”
Peter Quill said, “You should have heard the story of how I stole the spaceship. You wouldn’t believe how fierce the battle was!”
He stood up and shrugged at Arthur: “So, buddy, do you like the gift I’m giving you?”
“To me?”
Arthur pointed at himself, somewhat incredulous. He smirked, “I thought you’d sell it.”
“Sure, selling it is an option too!”
Peter Quill thought for a moment, then said, “Yeah, why not sell it? It’s a hot item, even more sought after than that blue-skinned prison warden. You don’t know how many people have died for it! Damn, I almost forgot it could be sold. I was planning to make it the core of your future spaceship.”
Arthur was touched by Peter’s words. Despite Peter’s usual obsession with money, his first thought upon acquiring such a valuable item was to give it to Arthur, and not sell it.
He patted Peter’s shoulder and spoke with a sincere-looking expression on his face: “From now on, I won’t ever slap your face again.”
Peter blinked, looking bewildered: “Does that even make sense?”
“Alright, once we’re out of this area, let’s find a place to sell this. The money we get should be enough for you to buy a spaceship and fuel it to get back to Earth.”
Peter Quill sighed and looked at Arthur: “Even though our time together was brief, I’ll really miss you.”
Arthur was also touched and was about to say something when suddenly the spaceship shook violently, accompanied by a rapid alarm.
They exchanged a glance and hurried out of the rest area. On their way to the upper deck, the spaceship shook several more times, and the alarm grew more piercing.
When they reached the upper deck and looked outside, their faces turned pale.
A Kree Empire Warship was tailing them, surrounded by a swarm of enemy fighters.
“Why won’t these guys just go away?” Peter Quill exclaimed.
He leaped into the pilot seat, disengaged the autopilot, and adjusted the power distribution, trying to manage the ongoing damage.
There were at least ten enemy fighters, and while the Warship was small, it still had formidable firepower.
Although they had been attacked earlier, the damage was not critical. Now, however, the enemies seemed to be using their attacks to drive Arthur and Peter’s spaceship toward a specific location.
Peter’s repeated attempts to break free from the Kree encirclement were failing, and his eyes reddened with frustration: “These bastards are plotting something!”
Arthur took a deep breath and suddenly said, “Change direction. They don’t seem ready to kill us immediately, but they definitely won’t let us escape. Since that’s the case, let’s turn around and charge straight into that Warship!”
Peter Quill’s eyes widened: “Are you serious?”
“Let’s go crazy for once!”
Arthur’s eyes gleamed with a chilling light: “Although I don’t know why they are so determined to chase us down, it’s clear they absolutely don’t want us alive! With our spaceship’s capabilities, it’s impossible to counter their firepower in space. The only option left is to fight for survival!”
At this point, the situation wasn’t entirely baffling. When that ridiculous 10086 said, “You wouldn’t believe what you’ve just destroyed…” Arthur had felt a jolt of concern.
A sense of foreboding had arisen in his mind. They might have inadvertently killed some important, crucial figure while making their escape.
However, the Kree did not immediately pursue them, which gave Arthur a glimmer of hope.
Moreover, at that time, his mental state was highly fatigued, and his thoughts were scattered and difficult to organize, leading him to overlook the matter.
But discussing it now was pointless.
Peter Quill changed direction, searched for a suitable entry point, and suddenly increased the firepower, charging straight at the Warship amidst the roar.
The surrounding fighters quickly adjusted their angles to pursue them.
Arthur took a deep breath as The Eye of Horus spun around him.
After sleeping for over two hours, he felt unprecedentedly refreshed, and even the use of The Eye of Horus was much more agile than before.
As they got closer to the Warship, both Arthur and Peter’s nerves were on edge.
The pursuing small spaceships didn’t take the opportunity to attack them, and it looked as if they were seemingly waiting to witness their demise within the Warship.
Seeing this, Arthur felt a bit anxious: “Can you aim?”
“As a man, you can overlook many things, but never miss your target!” Peter Quill responded seriously before pulling the trigger with force.
In a burst of fire, the door was blown open and shattered into pieces.
Although this damage was nothing to a Warship, it was sufficient for Arthur and Peter Quill.
As the spaceship was about to crash into the Warship, the sudden rush felt as exhilarating as a roller coaster, causing their breaths to catch and their hearts to almost forget to beat.
Finally, with a whoosh, they plunged into the Warship through the opened entrance.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
After a series of impacts and smashing through countless doors, the spaceship finally stopped amid intense shaking!
Inside the cabin, the force field remained intact and Arthur and Peter exchanged a relieved glance, their fear slowly subsiding.
Arthur touched his ear and the black mask covered his face. He said, “Check here to see if the spaceship can still operate. I need to handle something!”
“What are you going to do?”
Peter asked urgently, but Arthur had already disappeared. Peter stood there with a dumbfounded expression on his face: “What do I do now? Don’t you have any sense of organization or team-ups?”
