IUD-Chapter 65 Why?

Fang Li found himself trapped with no escape as he was surrounded by cages imprisoning Kabane. The only gate was blocked by the Hunters’ Samurai, who had their Steam Guns aimed directly at Fang Li inside the carriage.

It seemed there was no way for him to hide or evade their sight. However, rather than succumbing to fear, Fang Li’s face broke into a smile.

“I’ve heard tales of your exceptional skills in dealing with Kabane, Hunters. They say you sweep them away wherever you go,” Fang Li remarked calmly, his smile unwavering.

With each passing moment, his gaze grew colder and more indifferent, as if he had accepted his fate.

“If that’s truly the case, then let’s see what you’re truly capable of!” Fang Li declared boldly, suddenly spinning around to face the cage in front of him. His ice-blue Mystic Eyes locked onto the cracked Death Line that had appeared on the cage’s surface.

“Pū”

Without hesitation, Fang Li swiftly swung his dagger at the Death Lines, severing them with a sharp sound.

“AaahAaahAaahAaahAaahAaah————!”

In an instant, the cage containing the Kabane was cleanly cut open, allowing the imprisoned monsters to burst forth, and their freedom was finally regained. The Kabane erupted with wild excitement, their roars filling the air as they embraced their newfound liberation.

“What————?!”

The Hunters’ Samurai, who had been moments away from pulling the trigger on Fang Li, were caught off guard by this unexpected turn of events.

Fear gripped their hearts as they realized the dire situation they now faced. Sensing the perfect opportunity, Fang Li transformed into a bat and gracefully leaped over the heads of the Hunters’ Samurai, swiftly making his way out through the carriage’s gate.

By the time the Hunters’ Samurai comprehended the gravity of the situation, it was too late to salvage their plan. The unleashed Kabane swarmed out from the broken cages, pouncing on the defenseless Hunters’ Samurai.

“AaahAaah————!”

Chaos ensued as the monstrous creatures overwhelmed their human adversaries, their roars blending with the screams and cries of the Hunters’ Samurai, echoing throughout the metallic confines of the Hayajiro.

“Bang bang bang bang————!”

Gunshots rang out relentlessly in the cramped space, creating a dissonant symphony of violence.

The bloodthirsty Kabane, their numbers seemingly endless, launched a ferocious assault against the Samurai within the Hayajiro, turning the once-controlled environment into a brutal battlefield.

The Hunters’ Samurai, driven to the brink, raised their Steam Guns and fought back desperately.

Amidst the turmoil, the Kabane surged forth like an unstoppable flood, their relentless attacks claiming both Kabane and Samurai lives.

The sound of bullets penetrating Kabane’s heart occasionally brought respite, but the fangs of the undead pierced the Samurai’s flesh, draining their life force and sealing their fate.

Even the battle-hardened Hunters’ Samurai, who were accustomed to fighting Kabane, found themselves gradually pushed back by the overwhelming onslaught.

Within a matter of minutes, the majority of the Samurai within the Hayajiro had fallen, succumbing to the relentless tide of Kabane.

The elite Hunters who had arrived as reinforcements were also ensnared in the chaotic battle, unable to turn the tide. The narrow space became a nightmarish scene reminiscent of hell itself.

The Hunters’ organization had kept Kabane captive, well aware of the risks involved in such an endeavor.

However, the Samurai treated these creatures as mere experimental subjects, failing to acknowledge the inherent danger of keeping Kabane confined. Now, they were paying the price for their hubris and negligence.

Despite their extensive combat experience, the Hunters’ Samurai continued to fall one by one, losing comrades and facing sudden ambushes.

It was only a matter of time before those who had fallen would rise again as Kabane, further sealing the fate of the Hunters. The once-mighty organization was on the brink of extinction, facing the consequences of its ill-fated decisions.

The demise of the Hunters could not be attributed solely to the Kabane menace. In truth, their own actions were the true cause of their extinction.

It was a realization that Fang Li had come to understand as he escaped from the compartment of the Hunters’ Hayajiro, using the same entrance that Ikoma had used, and found himself on the train’s roof.

“Hū—!”

The winds on the roof were ferociously chaotic, immediately exerting their force upon Fang Li’s body. In the past, with his significantly inferior Attribute, even keeping his eyes open would have been an arduous task. However, the current Fang Li remained relatively unaffected by such a level of impact.

Just as Fang Li was preparing to proceed with his next move, an unexpected occurrence disrupted his plans. A figure suddenly leaped up from behind and charged toward him with incredible speed.

“————?!”

Half a second later, Fang Li finally sensed that something was amiss behind him and swiftly turned around. But before he could fully comprehend the situation, the figure had already rushed to his front and collided with him head-on.

“Bang————!”

Accompanied by a muffled sound, the collision between the two figures was forceful, causing them to roll together on the windy train roof.

“Tch!” Fang Li felt a sharp impact on his chest, followed by a dizzying sensation that sent his vision spinning. He couldn’t help but express his astonishment, struggling to regain control of his body.

Eventually, Fang Li managed to steady himself. However, his opponent had gained the upper hand in the collision. Straddling Fang Li’s body, they held him firmly under their control on the roof of the moving train.

Within moments, a cold kunai pressed against Fang Li’s neck, sending a chilling shiver through his nerves.

Fang Li held his breath, refraining from making any sudden movements.

Raising his gaze, he looked up, and the first thing that caught Fang Li’s eyes was a captivating face. It was delicate, akin to that of a doll, yet it radiated a wave of unprecedented anger.

“Why…” The voice that escaped the petite mouth of the person above him carried suppressed rage and profound sadness.

“Why would you do such a thing?” The petite figure demanded, her voice trembling with emotion.
