“You… what are you doing?” Toudou Kouichirou asked, feeling the cold touch of the dagger against his neck. Despite breaking out in a cold sweat, his tone carried a hint of mockery.
“I’m just an ordinary person. Do you Genestellars dare to attack me?” Toudou Kouichirou’s words weren’t mere bluff.
In this world, Genestellars had always been seen as anomalies. People feared those with superhuman powers, viewing them as a threat. Just like ferocious beasts turned into humans, Genestellars evoked fear, leading to a sense of exclusion.
The overwhelming power Genestellars possessed made ordinary people fear for their safety. They couldn’t help but wonder if Genestellars would suddenly turn violent, attack, target, or harm them. Such thoughts inevitably arose, creating conflicts.
And these thoughts weren’t entirely baseless. After all, with their immense power, if Genestellars did decide to harm ordinary people, the latter stood no chance. Due to this, Genestellars were often in a vulnerable position, with their rights restricted.
If a Genestellar accidentally harmed an ordinary person, they couldn’t even claim self-defense and might face severe legal consequences, even if the other party was the aggressor.
So, even though the murderous aura emanating from behind felt like a sharp blade constantly pricking Toudou Kouichirou’s skin, he maintained a haughty demeanor without any reservations.
However, Toudou Kouichirou was unaware that in the world of “God Eater,” there was a captain named Rollins Wright, who had threatened Fang Li, citing the survival of the entire Russian Branch and the future of humanity as reasons. Yet, Fang Li had swiftly dispatched him.
In this context, hearing Toudou Kouichirou’s threats, Fang Li chuckled.
“Unfortunately, you’ve chosen the wrong approach.”
Fang Li’s grip on the dagger suddenly tightened, and he drew a small cut on Toudou Kouichirou’s skin.
Blood trickled down from Toudou Kouichirou’s throat, and his eyes widened, finally revealing a sense of fear.
Just then, a voice interjected.
“Please… Please wait!”
Toudou Kirin appeared completely flustered but stepped forward, repeatedly bowing to Fang Li.
“This… this Senpai! I’m truly, deeply sorry! Please spare my uncle!”
One sentence caused Fang Li’s hand, which had been slowly closing around the dagger, to come to a halt.
Fang Li turned his gaze to Toudou Kirin and asked, “He treated you like this, and you’re pleading for him?”
Rather, it seemed like Fang Li was standing up for Toudou Kirin, yet this young girl was pleading for the very person who had mistreated her. It was a rather perplexing situation.
“I’m… I’m really sorry.” Toudou Kirin’s eyes glistened with tears as she timidly spoke. “But… it was my choice.”
Voluntary.
Indeed, it was true.
Toudou Kirin had volunteered for this.
Otherwise, even as a Genestellar, she could easily dodge the attacks of an ordinary person like Toudou Kouichirou. Yet, Toudou Kirin had endured all of Toudou Kouichirou’s actions without complaint.
The reason was simple: Toudou Kirin had her own wish.
To fulfill this wish, she needed to win the Festa.
However, Toudou Kirin was still very young, and despite her strength, she lacked the independent ability to plan how to win in the Festa.
The Festa was not something as simple as it seemed, where Toudou Kirin could just easily become the champion. She needed Toudou Kouichirou’s guidance to strategize and increase her chances of gaining the Festa championship.
In fact, although Toudou Kouichirou’s methods of treating Toudou Kirin were flawed, it was precisely because of his planning that Toudou Kirin achieved the prestigious rank of first place in the Seidoukan Academy Rankings.
Without Toudou Kouichirou’s meticulous plans, Toudou Kirin, even with her skill, would not have easily defeated the former first place in a duel, or have succeeded in general. For instance, winning a duel against the former first place had largely relied on the information Toudou Kouichirou had gathered and the plans he had made.
Without such careful planning, success would have been almost impossible.
“So… so…” Toudou Kirin hesitated to speak softly. “Please… spare my uncle…”
As her words hung in the air, the atmosphere in the training ground became indescribably tense.
Glancing at Toudou Kirin, who looked on the verge of tears, and then at the stiffened Toudou Kouichirou, Fang Li smirked and sheathed his dagger.
The tension in the surroundings eased.
Toudou Kirin sighed with relief and hastily bowed to thank Fang Li.
Toudou Kouichirou, on the other hand, touched the blood on his neck and couldn’t help but harbor some resentment.
These Genestellars were indeed all monsters, creatures that threatened the existence of humanity. However, Toudou Kouichirou’s resentment quickly faded, thanks to Fang Li’s words.
“In any case, your plan is now impossible to succeed,” Fang Li glanced at Toudou Kouichirou with a mocking tone. “After all, Toudou Kirin has lost to me, a student who didn’t even make it into the rankings and is from another academy. I’m sure your evaluation within the Integrated Enterprise Foundation will plummet, and there’s no way to turn it around, right?”
Hearing this, Toudou Kouichirou’s face turned pale, and he eventually slumped his shoulders in despair.
Fang Li didn’t pay any more attention to Toudou Kouichirou. Instead, he walked to Toudou Kirin’s side and muttered to himself as he spoke, “Instead of relying on others, it’s better to rely on yourself.”
“Otherwise, even if your wish comes true, I doubt anyone will be happy about it.”
Leaving these words behind, Fang Li paid no further attention to Toudou Kirin’s complex expression, turned around, and walked toward Fan Xinglu.
At this point, this incident had finally come to a close.

I sometimes find it hard to understand Fang Li simply because i do not understand his wants and desires. i don’t even really understand his personality. he just seems like “Generic Cool Guy” who has zero desires, but is fighting to get stronger just because he has nothing better to do.
Except die like the main god dimension rules say. But he doesn’t wanna die.
