Hancock has a fully willful personality, sometimes even appearing wicked and unruly, doing whatever she pleases.
Seeing how the others kept complaining about her using Haoshoku Haki to swiftly resolve targets, Hancock decided to leave the group.
She didn’t ask but rather seemed to inform Cosmos, the leader as if giving a directive. She turned and left immediately, not even acknowledging her two younger sisters, bringing along only her beloved pet snake, Salome.
“…”
Everyone, including her two sisters, fell into silence.
Despite Hancock’s willfulness, none of them were actually angry… They exchanged glances, feeling somewhat embarrassed about how easily they gave in… But Hancock was just too adorable; no matter what she did, it all seemed so natural…
Cosmos called out loudly, “Stay safe!”
Hancock’s response was an arrow.
Without turning her head, she grabbed her snake bow, drew the string, and fired an arrow back. The arrow shot like a meteor, whizzing past Cosmos and embedding silently into the ground, half of it buried in the soil at an angle.
A Kuja girl who had just started learning Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) remarked curiously, “Huh? No explosion? But Hancock definitely entwined her Haki…”
A bead of cold sweat formed on Cosmos’s forehead as she bent down and gripped the arrow’s wooden tail, intending to pull it out. To her surprise, it came out effortlessly with a quick tug.
The green-haired second sister and the orange-haired third sister squatted down and poked at the ground where their elder sister’s arrow had landed.
“It’s like the ground has been hollowed out, turned completely into sand…” Sandersonia said in amazement.
“And when the arrow landed, it made no sound at all…” Marigold couldn’t hide her shock, followed by a wave of discouragement. Having such an elder sister left her feeling defeated all the time.
It’s one thing to lose in terms of looks, as their sister’s beauty captivated even them, leaving no room for jealousy.
But to also lose in Haki…
Though they had expected it, who could have guessed the gap would be this vast?
It was too disheartening…
Cosmos stood silently, holding the arrow in her hand, at a loss for words. She looked in the direction Hancock had left, but she was already out of sight.
…
Hancock walked out of the forest and arrived at the seashore.
Her pet snake, Salome, slithered off her arm and moved along the beach, weaving between her feet with perfect coordination, never getting stepped on.
“When we first came out, I think I heard some faint screams…” Hancock muttered, “Salome, was I just hearing things?”
Besides them, there shouldn’t be anyone else on this island.
If it were one or two of the National Guard warriors patrolling outside, it was still hard to imagine them screaming like that…
Salome raised its upper body, flicking its tongue beside the black-haired girl, looking puzzled.
Hancock hadn’t expected an answer; she was just talking to pass the time. She took off her shoes, letting her delicate, jade-like feet, white with a hint of pink, sink into the soft sand.
She left a trail of footprints but suddenly sighed in frustration, saying, “The pirates said there should be waves on the beach, washing over your ankles, feeling cool…”
She looked out at the endless sea. The Calm Belt’s water was as still as a mirror, and she felt like a small girl on the edge of this mirror, lost in her reflection.
Though she was beautiful, strong, and talented, and everyone liked her, what did it all mean? All she wanted was to board the Kuja Pirates’ ship and see the windy seas of the outside world…
“Boroo?”
A voice interrupted Hancock’s gloomy thoughts.
She looked down and saw… nothing!
“Huh, wait!” Hancock squinted, observing carefully. She noticed something unusual in the sand patterns before her feet. It seemed like something was camouflaged to perfectly match the color of the beach, making it difficult to spot. “Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) can only sense it a little… What is this thing?”
Instead of curiously bending down like a little girl to touch it, Hancock simply lifted her foot and kicked whatever was blending in with the sandy beach—the camouflaged Den Den Mushi went flying.
“A stone? Or a clump of sand? But it feels like something alive…”
Hancock placed one hand on her slender waist and walked barefoot over to the object she had kicked. She looked down and noticed it had eyes like little lollipops.
She stepped on the Den Den Mushi’s back, her perfectly shaped toes rubbing against it, probing the object.
“A fish? No… Maybe it’s one of those bugs that Snake Princess and the others mentioned…”
As she thought this, a small hole appeared under her translucent big toe that was pressing on the shell of the sand-colored Den Den Mushi.
BIU…
Hancock suddenly felt weightless, as if she were falling into something. It started from her toe, then her ankle, her calf, her knee, thigh, hips… Hancock’s stunned expression showed she had realized what was happening.
She tried to stabilize herself by covering her hands in Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki) and grabbing the edges of the “hole.” Unfortunately, she didn’t anticipate that the hole would keep expanding and moving farther away, slipping past her black Haki-covered fingertips…
Hancock felt as if she were tumbling into the layered, black mist of some sort of… lantern.
Why did it feel like she just passed through something glowing…
When Hancock came to her senses, she found herself sitting on something soft.
She looked around. This was… a strangely decorated living room. But she was just on the beach at Kuja Island, and after stepping on a bug, how did she end up in this place…
Hancock touched the soft surface beneath her and stood up. What kind of seat was this? Why was it so squishy?
“But you are the most capable one among those who came this time.”
The sudden voice made Hancock narrow her eyes. The troublemakers were finally revealing themselves?
“Salome!” she called, and the red-spotted white snake coiled on her shoulder immediately straightened up, extending into a longbow in her hand. Hancock expertly nocked an arrow, drew the string, and aimed at the source of the voice.
It seemed to be…
A black… panel with a square-shaped, what was that…
Suddenly, with a BIU sound, a screen lit up with an image, but before it could display anything, it was struck by Hancock’s swiftly fired arrow, shattering with a bang into pieces.
Somewhere in the city castle, Liam and Robin: “…”
The dark castle within the twisted Den Den Mushi cityscape: “…”
Meanwhile, Little Green, oblivious to everything, was happily wandering along the beach… freely strolling around with no one to bother it. Feels pretty good!
