In the vast expanse of space, hundreds of Spaceships of various sizes and shapes were scattered about. These Spaceships belonged to the scattered combat fleet under the command of Yondu’s Star Thief Gang.

Not far from these Spaceships, the cores of various shattered planets were slowly dispersing in the starry sky. Yes, Ego’s planetary core, just like in the original plot, had shattered. However, the manner in which Ego’s planet had broken apart took Lin Rui by surprise.

By now, half an hour had passed since Lin Rui had swung that sword. Although the power of the “Ten Thousand Swords Returning to the Sect” was immense and had indeed struck Ego’s planetary core directly, Lin Rui still found it somewhat hard to believe when the core exploded right before him.

However, as he looked at the fragments that had lost their stellar cores and turned into cosmic dust before his eyes, Lin Rui seemed to understand that Ego was truly gone.

Boom, boom, boom—

Following Lin Rui’s unleashing of his most powerful sword technique to date, the energy tendrils protecting Ego’s core immediately dissipated, and then the brain-like stellar core exploded directly under countless sharp sword auras.

“Is that it?!”

This was Lin Rui’s inner thought as he witnessed the planetary core exploding in front of him half an hour after he had swung that sword. In Lin Rui’s original expectations, Ego’s core couldn’t have been as easily cleaved by a single sword stroke.

Although the power of this move was undoubtedly substantial and had been earned through years of practice and exchanges within the system, Lin Rui believed that it fell short compared to the immensely powerful energy bomb in the original plot.

Nevertheless, faced with the current reality, Lin Rui, even though he had some doubts about Ego’s seemingly simple demise, decided not to dwell on it any longer.

As Lin Rui’s sword shattered Ego’s core, the surrounding structure, which was already collapsing, lost its energy support in an instant and rapidly crumbled. At the same time, Ego’s face, which had previously formed several energy avatars, contorted as it stared at Lin Rui. Then, it silently roared and dissipated into nothingness.

As for the energy tendrils that had been attacking Thor, Yondu, and the Sovereign race, they also gradually lost their energy support and dissipated after Ego’s avatars vanished.

Swish, swish, swish—

As the planetary core crumbled, Rocket Raccoon quickly flew past his teammates, tossing out portable space energy shields. Spider-Man, Pietro, and the others all caught the devices and activated them to protect themselves before being fully exposed to outer space.

Subsequently, everyone floated in place, silently watching as Ego’s planetary core continued to disintegrate until it ultimately became an inconspicuous pile of space debris.

“He… is he dead?”

As Lin Rui observed this scene, contemplating the potential plot deviations and their consequences, he heard Star-Lord’s perplexed voice in his earpiece.

“Good riddance! This scumbag sowed seeds everywhere. You don’t seriously consider him your dad, do you?” Lin Rui hadn’t spoken yet, but Yondu’s unpleasant voice resounded over the comm, maintaining his irritating tone.

Star-Lord: “Of course not!”

“Always forming your little groups, and you almost got yourself killed. Isn’t my big Star Thief Gang enough for you to inherit? Call me ‘Dad,’ and I’ll even hand the gang over to you after I die!”

Seemingly relieved now that the danger had passed, Yondu returned to his cheeky state, and a few sentences were enough to make Star-Lord wish he could shoot him right there.

Bang!

Wait, Star-Lord actually fired his gun, but Yondu was still inside the Spaceship at this moment, so the shot merely caused a minor, non-damaging breach.

“You, my rebellious son! Still defying your old man, huh?!”

Click!

Not wanting to hear any more of Yondu’s unproductive chatter, Star-Lord blocked Yondu’s signal and then flew over to Lin Rui and the others.

“Phantom Knight, thanks to all of you this time. Otherwise, I might really have been devoured by that guy.”

Although Star-Lord was carefree and had lacked parental love since childhood, he wasn’t a fool. He understood that Lin Rui and the others had come to his rescue in the nick of time, thanks to Yondu’s request.

However, he didn’t want to openly praise Yondu in front of so many people! Did that guy really think he could make him call him “Dad” like this?!

Waving his hand dismissively, Lin Rui indicated that it was nothing; they were all fellow travelers.

“Furthermore, this guy’s ability is to sow seeds on life-bearing planets and then activate them to devour the planets when the time is right. I’ve already discovered his seeds on Earth. Although I’ve been monitoring them, I’m not sure if I can destroy them in time when Ego activates the seeds.”

“So, saving you also meant saving Earth.”

“Alright, fine. I owe you a favor. No, I owe all of you.”

With that, Star-Lord and Lin Rui’s group floated in space, silently watching as the planetary fragments slowly drifted apart, ultimately becoming inconspicuous grains in the universe.

Inside an underground facility in Siberia on Earth, a blue beam of light materialized into a portal. Following that, Lin Rui and another unfamiliar young boy stepped out.

The young boy who had accompanied Lin Rui to the Siberian base was clearly very curious about the portal and the facility’s equipment. As soon as he stepped out, he began to examine his surroundings with curiosity.

“Stephen, over here,” Lin Rui, who had already walked a considerable distance ahead, noticed that the boy wasn’t keeping up and called out to him.

“Coming! Is this your new secret base? It’s so cool!” Stephen exclaimed in amazement.

“It’s something like that,” Lin Rui replied.

At this point, it had been two days since Lin Rui and Star-Lord, along with Yondu, had jointly defeated Ego.

Upon Yondu’s enthusiastic invitation, Lin Rui and the curious Earthlings had spent two days playing with his Star Pirate Gang, gaining quite a bit of experience in the universe.

Afterward, Lin Rui still utilized Asgard’s Spaceship to return to the Nine Realms’ star system and then used the Bifrost to return to Earth.

Although he had enjoyed these past two days, Lin Rui hadn’t forgotten the doubts in his heart when Ego’s planet had shattered. So, armed with this question, he had specifically sought out Professor X, borrowed a mutant with life affinity abilities from him, and wanted to see if Ego’s seeds were still alive.

Drip, drip, drip…

“J.A.R.V.I.S., open up.”

“Of course, Mr. Phantom Knight.”

Click—

As J.A.R.V.I.S. responded, the alloy door in front of them quickly opened, and Lin Rui and Stephen stepped inside.

Leading Stephen to the glass box containing Ego’s seed, Lin Rui gestured to it. This was the object he had come for.

“Is this it? It looks kind of disgusting, not like a natural Earth lifeform,” Stephen said with a puzzled expression upon Lin Rui’s signal.

As a mutant with life affinity abilities, Stephen’s ability development had only reached level 2 at this time. He could only control the growth of most plants and a small portion of lifeforms. However, he possessed the nearly unparalleled ability to communicate with almost any lifeform.

Although Stephen was separated from the elliptical, strangely colored object inside the glass box by the glass itself, he couldn’t help but feel a particularly nauseating sensation.

Hearing Stephen’s words, Lin Rui raised an eyebrow. It seemed he had indeed found the right person; Stephen’s abilities weren’t limited to Earth lifeforms.

“Can you sense whether this thing is still alive?” Without much explanation, Lin Rui asked directly.

Placing his hand on the surface of the glass box, Stephen’s expression turned serious. “I’ll give it a try.”

Then, Lin Rui saw Stephen slowly close his eyes, pressing his hands against the glass box. It appeared he was activating his powers.

Thump, thump, thump! Thump! Thump, thump, thump!

After maintaining this posture for about a dozen seconds, Lin Rui keenly sensed that Stephen’s heart rate had suddenly accelerated within an extremely short period!

Swish!

In the next moment, Lin Rui decisively pulled Stephen away from the edge of the glass box. At the same time, a gentle internal energy flowed into Stephen’s body to help him resist any potential harm.

“Huff! Huff!” After Lin Rui had moved Stephen away from the box, the boy also opened his eyes and began to breathe heavily.

Retracting his internal energy, Lin Rui knew that Stephen was fine and didn’t rush to ask what had happened. He waited quietly for Stephen to recover.

Finally, after taking a few deep breaths, Stephen looked at the Ego seed inside the glass box with a fearful expression. He moved a couple of steps further away and then spoke, “This thing! Not only is it still alive, but it just tried to devour my consciousness!”
