In an instant, Lin Rui and Thor’s positions were bombarded by countless beams of energy.
The weapons on the Sovereign Race’s combat spaceships were nothing like the two laser guns that Star-Lord wielded. At least a hundred spaceships had focused their fire on them, creating a blinding glare akin to a small sun.
Peter, who had been observing the situation from a distance, had already quickly moved with Jack a second before the Sovereign Race appeared. So, when the Sovereign Race emerged and launched their attack, they were battered but managed to evade.
“Jackson!”
Seeing Lin Rui and Thor under attack from hundreds of spaceships, Peter shouted in concern. He then turned to Jack, who wore an equally worried expression.
“Jack!”
Swish!
The meaning in Peter’s eyes was clear. After a firm nod, Jack waved his hand to create a magical portal, while a magical shield appeared above their heads.
“Go!” Jack commanded in a low voice, controlling the magical portal to rush out quickly.
Bang!
As soon as Jack summoned the magical portal, Peter rushed out as well. When Peter saw the situation on the other side of the magical portal, he leaped into action.
Swish!
Crossing through the magical portal, Peter had already covered dozens of meters to arrive above the two Sovereign Race combat spaceships surrounding Lin Rui and Thor. Glancing around at the hundreds of combat spaceships hovering in the air, Peter swiftly shot spider webs in all directions.
PūPūPū!
While the Sovereign spaceships had detected Peter the moment he appeared, everyone was focused on attacking Lin Rui and Thor. The signs of life on those two hadn’t disappeared yet!
The Sovereign Race didn’t pay much attention to the guy in strange clothing who had suddenly appeared on top of their spaceships, and their scanners didn’t detect any powerful weapons on him.
Thus, with Peter desperately firing away, the spider webs he shot from his wrist quickly connected to over a dozen nearby spaceships.
These spider webs, part of the latest Spider-Man suit developed by Tony Stark, were state-of-the-art and had dozens of different functions, each with unique effects. Peter hadn’t fully familiarized himself with all these spider webs yet, but he was currently using what he considered the most powerful type, one that emitted electric charges.
“Electricity! Maximum power activate!” With the spider webs connected to over a dozen spaceships, Peter activated the electric system within the spider webs.
Zzzzap!
In an instant, every semi-transparent spider web erupted with white electrical arcs, relentlessly striking the hulls of the dozen or so spaceships. However, Peter’s expression changed in the next moment.
Boom!
Under the assault of the electrical spider web, these golden spaceships seemed to be engulfed in intense electrical radiance, but strangely, they remained unharmed. These powerful electric shocks had no effect on them whatsoever.
What Peter didn’t know was that the Sovereign Race possessed tremendous power and was at the forefront of technology in the universe. While Tony’s technology was top-notch on Earth, it paled in comparison when taken to the vast cosmos.
Furthermore, the electrical energy in Peter’s spider web, which might have been sufficient against Earth’s technology, proved entirely inadequate against the Sovereign spaceships. To make matters more insulating, many of these golden spaceships were indeed constructed using actual gold, making their insulation properties quite impressive!
Swish!
Just as Peter was taken aback, several energy beams were already whizzing toward him. Apparently, some of the spaceships still aimed to eliminate this small nuisance.
“Then let’s try something else!” Since the electrical spider web was ineffective, Peter swiftly maneuvered his spider web among the spaceships, changing to a different type of spider web.
PūPūPū!
Then, Jack watched as Peter continued to jump and evade attacks from the spaceships while firing various types of spider webs to try to inflict effective damage on them.
However, the results were almost non-existent. The materials of these spaceships were far superior to Earth’s technology, and even Peter’s upgraded Spider-Man suit couldn’t seem to harm them in any meaningful way.
Swish!
Just as Peter was barely evading attacks from two spaceships and was about to be directly hit by one from behind, a magical portal appeared behind him. The spaceship that was coming straight for him rushed into the portal, then emerged from another direction dozens of meters away.
Bang!
The emerging position happened to be where several spaceships had gathered. Jack’s teleportation maneuver caused a collision, disrupting the formation of some of the Sovereign spaceships. However, it didn’t undermine their overall strength.
Swish swish swish!
As Peter and Jack were angrily taking action to fend off the attacks directed at Lin Rui and Thor, Rocket, with a complex expression, also took to the air and began a frenzy of attacks against the spaceships.
Rocket knew that these Sovereign Racespeople should be attacking him instead. They were likely drawn to this situation due to the high-energy battery he had stolen from his own backpack, implicating Lin Rui and Thor.
“You arrogant golden folks! The battery is with me! Come and take it if you dare!” Rocket shouted loudly as he angrily fired his weapons.
Swish swish swish!
Sure enough, after Rocket’s declaration, a significant portion of the hundreds of spaceships surrounding Lin Rui and Thor turned their attention to him. They then charged toward Rocket.
“Haha! I’m not afraid of you!” Seeing that he had indeed attracted so many spaceships charging at him, Rocket’s weapons blazed with flames in his hands.
Swish!
In the next moment, the spacecraft behind Rocket increased its power and charged out, swiftly maneuvering through this subterranean space.
Then, Rocket led dozens of spaceships in a circle within this space, providing relief to Peter and Jack by reducing some of the pressure. As for the numerous spaceships that continued to attack Lin Rui and Thor, Rocket had no way to deal with them.
“Jack! What should we do? There are too many spaceships!” Peter shouted loudly as he continued to jump rapidly between several stone columns, having tried all types of spider webs to no avail.
“I don’t know either! These spaceships have strong defenses, and my magic attacks aren’t doing enough damage!” Hearing Peter’s words, Jack, who was using magic to attack the spaceships, also replied loudly.
As the new generation of sorcerers on Earth, Jack’s strength wasn’t particularly high, and his use of magic was relatively basic. Otherwise, with a few high-powered spells, even if some spaceships remained, their numbers would be significantly reduced. Alternatively, they could construct a Mirror Dimension and pull these spaceships inside.
“Don’t worry, both Thor and I are fine. You guys just need to protect yourselves,” came Lin Rui’s calm voice in their ears.
“Jackson! Are you okay!?” Upon hearing Lin Rui’s voice, Peter quickly inquired.
“Yeah, these attacks aren’t enough to harm Thor and me. Thor is preparing a big move. You guys just stay hidden,” Lin Rui’s voice continued after Peter’s question.
“Got it!”
With a response, a magical portal appeared in front of Peter, and he leaped into it. Simultaneously, Jack created a magical portal next to Rocket, rescuing him from the ongoing chase.
“Let’s find a place to hide for now!”
After Jack used magical portals to gather everyone together, he quickly reminded them.
However, Mantis, who had been quite nervous and hidden since they entered this space, suddenly saw her two antennae light up.
“Ego! He’s here!” Her voice trembled slightly as she gazed at the still relatively quiet space.
Hearing Mantis’s words, Rocket tightened his grip on his weapons. “Ego…”
Boom!
Just as Rocket finished repeating Ego’s name, the previously stable space suddenly experienced violent tremors. The underground area where Jack and the others had taken cover began to glow with light as Ego’s energy tendrils, which had disappeared earlier, started to appear.
At the same time, above where Lin Rui and Thor were under attack, a surge of energy appeared out of nowhere, and Ego’s energy duplicate swiftly materialized. It still bore the likeness of Star-Lord’s father but had grown significantly larger.
Glancing at the chaotic destruction in this space, Ego’s face displayed an angry expression, but he quickly suppressed it. After observing the numerous Sovereign spaceships frantically scurrying about, Ego’s gaze finally settled on Lin Rui and Thor, who were still engulfed in countless energy beams.
“These two… have become much stronger since the last time we met in the Nine Realms.”
Buzzing!
Just as Ego silently pondered while watching the small sun, a violent energy fluctuation suddenly emanated from the central location.
