Kaka, kaka…

Thor, wielding his Hammer, resembled an electric drill. He bored a deep hole directly from the central ground of Ego’s luxurious palace and continued deeper into the planet’s core.

Lin Rui, on the other hand, used his domain to lead Rocket Raccoon and the others, following Thor closely and effortlessly dealing with some energy tentacles that attempted to intercept them.

As they followed Thor’s rapid descent toward the planet’s core, Lin Rui contemplated how to deal with the formidable problem of Ego. While Lin Rui understood that blowing up Ego’s core was the most direct and plot-compliant solution, it would also sever Star-Lord’s source of divine power.

To be honest, despite Ego being an antagonist, as a Celestial, Ego possessed formidable power. If it weren’t for the fact that Lin Rui and the others were now on Ego’s home planet, he believed it wouldn’t be so easy to pinpoint Ego’s weaknesses for a targeted attack.

Even though they were on their way to Ego’s core, Lin Rui felt that the challenges ahead wouldn’t be as straightforward as they seemed.

In the original plot, it appeared quite simple: Star-Lord, empowered by the celestial abilities he acquired, held Ego at bay while Baby Groot planted a bomb to blow up Ego’s core, ending his life.

But Lin Rui thought it was too simplistic. Ego’s true power hadn’t been revealed much yet – was it limited to these energy tentacles? Perhaps it was because in the core, Ego couldn’t fully unleash his abilities, or maybe Star-Lord had siphoned some of his divine power.

“Is there a way to neutralize Ego without blowing him up?” Lin Rui silently pondered as the number of approaching energy tentacles dwindled. By now, Star-Lord had mastered the powers of the Celestial with Ego’s careful guidance, significantly boosting his strength.

While Star-Lord was already the head of the Guardians of the Galaxy and possessed the protagonist’s halo, stronger abilities could still be an advantage.

Of course, Lin Rui was just considering alternatives. If there was no other choice, destroying Ego directly was the simplest and most direct method. As for the Celestial’s divine power, Lin Rui believed Star-Lord wouldn’t hesitate to relinquish the power given by the man who killed his mother.

Boom, boom, boom…

Under Thor’s rapid flight like a thundering drill, Lin Rui and the others quickly distanced themselves from the energy tentacles. After crossing several layers of rock, they arrived at the core of Ego’s home planet.

Here, they saw a complex network of rock formations resembling neural structures and some unknown things emitting strange lights.

“You need to hurry; Ego can react quickly. On this planet, he is omnipresent,” Mantis reminded them as Lin Rui withdrew his domain to release everyone. She had learned that these people seemed capable of dealing with Ego, and she had already come this far, so she had no qualms about assisting them further.

“Yes, is that Ego’s core over there?” Lin Rui asked, looking towards a circular piece of earth linked to various “nerves,” not far away.

Hearing Lin Rui’s question, Mantis glanced at it and replied, “It should be. This is my first time here.”

Although Ego had to some extent trusted Mantis, he wouldn’t allow her to come to this place, let alone reveal the location of his brain.

“Let’s destroy it first, and we’ll find out if it’s the real thing,” Lin Rui said as he flew towards the large chunk of earth.

Of course, Lin Rui didn’t necessarily intend to destroy Ego’s brain immediately; that was the final resort.

Swish!

In the original plot, Groot had drilled inside and used a high-energy battery from the Sovereign Race to blow up Ego’s core. However, now there were Thor and Lin Rui as well, and their power might be enough to destroy the core from the outside.

“After all, the weapons on the original spaceship could damage this core; it’s just that the external destruction wasn’t as fast.” Thinking this, Lin Rui and Thor arrived at the edge of the core chunk.

“Is this Ego’s brain?” Thor asked, brandishing the God of Thunder’s Hammer with a hint of disdain as he looked at the unimpressive chunk of earth.

Also a deity from the Nine Realms, Thor wasn’t particularly impressed by such an unusual brain. A planet might seem formidable, but its core was remarkably fragile.

Nodding, Lin Rui drew the Beheading Spirit Sword and said, “Yes, his brain is hidden inside here. Once we destroy this, Ego’s consciousness will collapse, and the entire planet will cease to exist.”

However, just as Lin Rui was about to test the damage to the chunk with a sword strike, something suddenly flashed through his mind.

“Did I forget something…?”

With that thought, Lin Rui swiftly swung his sword.

Buzz!

Azura’s sword radiance flashed momentarily in this space, and Lin Rui’s sword, empowered with his full strength, struck the core chunk of Ego.

Swish!

As Lin Rui retracted his sword, a deep crack had appeared where his sword had struck. Considering the size of the entire chunk, it would take dozens of strikes with the same force to break it into pieces. However, if they were to act at full strength, two strikes would suffice.

Of course, it was better to leave this laborious task to the experts. After delivering this strike, Lin Rui took a few steps back.

“It’s your turn now, Thor. With your power, one blow should be enough to smash it,” Lin Rui said, without hesitation, looking at Thor beside him.

After speaking, Lin Rui didn’t wait for Thor to respond but retreated several steps further, even sheathing the Beheading Spirit Sword. It was quite evident that he expected Thor to take action.

“You, my friend, I’ve figured you out. You came to me today just to put me to work!” Thor remarked with some exasperation, glancing at Lin Rui.

However, Thor’s comment was more in jest. He then silently raised the God of Thunder’s Hammer. In an instant, Thor’s aura soared rapidly, and thunderbolts began to appear around him.

Crackle, crackle!

Over the closed heart of this unseen planet, thick layers of clouds had entirely covered the area, and countless thunderbolts crackled within them.

Watching Thor taking action, Lin Rui, standing not far behind, didn’t wear a relaxed expression. He was still pondering the fleeting thought that had crossed his mind earlier.

“Is this too smooth? Is my subconscious warning me to be cautious of unexpected occurrences?” Lin Rui thought silently as his gaze swept over the still undisturbed space.

‘What did I miss exactly?’

Swish!

Just as Lin Rui furrowed his brow and contemplated, that flash of insight occurred again, and this time, Lin Rui finally seized it!

“Sovereign Race!”

Swish, swish, swish!

Just as Lin Rui retrieved this term from his mind, hundreds of golden, small combat spaceships surged in from all directions of this space. There was no need to guess; by their appearance alone, it was clear that these spaceships were remote-controlled combat spaceships from the Sovereign Race.

‘Indeed, I forgot about the Sovereign Race’s pursuit of the Guardians of the Galaxy! But how could I have forgotten this?!’ Amidst the sudden appearance of the Sovereign Race, Lin Rui was more concerned about why he had forgotten this part of the plot.

Boom, boom, boom!

While Lin Rui frowned and watched the hundreds of golden combat spaceships rushing toward them, they quickly formed an encirclement and began firing simultaneously at Lin Rui and the others.
