Ten minutes later, Lin Rui, accompanied by the excited Peter and Jack, arrived in a desolate desert in a remote area. When it came to supporting Star-Lord and Yondu in the universe, it was essential not to bring too many people, and it was best to keep it hidden from Tony and Rogers to avoid unnecessary complications.
“Jackson, is it just the three of us? Ego… that’s Star-Lord’s dad, right? Although I didn’t see him take action last time, I heard that he’s as powerful as an Ancient One!” Jack asked with some concern as he stepped on the dry sand.
Standing by Lin Rui’s side, Jack was excited but still had some rationality in him. When Lin Rui told them they were going to the universe to support Star-Lord against his evil father, Jack was contemplating whether their strength was sufficient to deal with such a formidable entity.
“If it were anywhere else, there might be significant danger, but this time… at Ego’s headquarters, all we need to do is cause some havoc. And by the way, who said it’s just the three of us?” Lin Rui replied with a smile, addressing Jack’s question and concern.
“Didn’t you say not to tell Stark and Captain Rogers? Isn’t this operation supposed to be confidential?” Now, Peter, who had been eavesdropping on their conversation, was puzzled.
Although Peter had a history of skipping school and following Lin Rui, it was still best not to let his idol know about it.
“Of course, I didn’t mean Tony and them. They’re too busy, and they can’t be of much help anyway. What I meant was… the people over there!” As he spoke, Lin Rui raised his hand and pointed to the sky.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Boom…
As Peter and Jack looked up at the sky following Lin Rui’s finger, the previously cloudless sky rapidly accumulated thick layers of clouds in a matter of seconds, accompanied by rolling thunder.
Seeing this peculiar spectacle, both Peter and Jack had expressions of understanding on their faces.
“So, you summoned Thor, didn’t you? It’s been a while since I’ve seen him!” This kind of phenomenon, which was rare to occur naturally on Earth, indicated the imminent arrival of the Bifrost, and Peter was quite excited about it.
Boom!
Just as Peter finished speaking, a few lightning bolts fell from the clouds above them. If it weren’t for the fact that Lin Rui and his companions were very agile, jumping away in an instant before the lightning struck, those bolts of lightning would have hit them.
“Damn it! What’s Thor up to?” Peter shouted, staring at the thunderclouds overhead after narrowly avoiding the lightning bolt that targeted him.
Lin Rui also took out his Beheading Spirit Sword after the recent lightning strikes, wondering if Thor was currently not in Asgard and if Loki was playing tricks.
However, just when Lin Rui and the others were feeling a bit bewildered and cautious, the thunderclouds overhead didn’t send down more lightning but instead unleashed a rainbow beam of light from its center.
Seeing this rainbow beam, Lin Rui let out a sigh of relief. It seemed that what had happened earlier was either an accident or a prank.
“Stand steady! The Bifrost is here!” Lin Rui said after a moment, and the Bifrost had already descended through the clouds.
Boom, boom, boom…
The instant arrival of the Bifrost enveloped Lin Rui and his companions, and two seconds later, as the rainbow beam disappeared, Lin Rui and his companions also vanished, taking the overcast clouds with them. As for whether SHIELD would notice this sudden appearance of the Bifrost, Lin Rui wasn’t too concerned.
If Rogers were to investigate, he could just let Thor come up with some random excuse. For example, he accidentally triggered the Bifrost, which didn’t cause any harm.
So, Lin Rui, under the guise of taking a two-day break at home, took Peter and Jack and left Earth directly. Their first stop was Asgard.
However, while Lin Rui and the others were leaving Earth, the Ancient One, who had been hidden in the Himalayas for some time, slowly opened her eyes.
…
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
In the Bifrost control room of Asgard, located who knew how far from Earth, Heimdall guarded the Sword of Heimdall and the returning Bifrost from Earth had already arrived.
Then, Lin Rui and his three companions appeared in the hall, and Thor, standing in the center of the hall, smiled as he watched their arrival. From Thor’s deep blue eyes, one could still see a mischievous glint.
“Heimdall, it’s been a long time. You still look as heroic as ever!” Lin Rui, who was the first to recover from the Bifrost’s transit, greeted Heimdall with a smile.
As for Thor, Lin Rui temporarily ignored him. The recent incident with the lightning strikes made Lin Rui suspect that Thor was currently not in Asgard and that Loki might be up to some mischief.
Upon hearing Lin Rui’s words, Heimdall’s expression remained unchanged. He simply nodded slightly in response and returned to his position, continuing to guard the eternal realm of Asgard.
“Wow! This is Asgard! Bifrost is truly amazing!” Peter, who had now recovered and was looking around, exclaimed in amazement.
Jack, who had awakened after them, was much calmer. Although Asgard and Bifrost’s architecture was indeed awe-inspiring, Jack’s knowledge had expanded significantly during his time practicing in the sanctum of sorcerers. He had also learned teleportation magic, although he couldn’t use it for long-distance travel like Bifrost. Teleportation and Bifrost operated on different principles.
“Hey! Welcome, the three of you from Midgard to the eternal realm of Asgard! I am Thor, the Crown Prince of Asgard and the God of Thunder!” Finally, when Lin Rui and the others had almost intentionally ignored Thor, he couldn’t help but speak up.
Although all three of them knew him, Thor still stood proudly and made a formal introduction.
“Oh, thank you, Thor. We appreciate your welcome ceremony.” After Thor spoke, Lin Rui finally shifted his gaze toward him and responded nonchalantly.
“Let’s go; Yondu is waiting for us to provide support. I don’t know how far things have progressed on Star-Lord’s side, but we shouldn’t wait too long in case they start a fight before we arrive.”
After exchanging pleasantries with Thor, Lin Rui quickly walked out of the hall, with Peter, who was still looking around at everything, in tow.
Outside the hall, a grand avenue led directly to Asgard’s royal city, while beneath it lay the bottomless sea of stars, a true cosmic sea. At this moment, a distinctive-looking speedboat was parked outside the hall, clearly waiting for Lin Rui and his companions.
Skillfully boarding the speedboat, Lin Rui waved to Peter and Jack, who were still gazing at the starry sky and the cosmic sea beneath their feet.
“Plenty of time to admire the view later; don’t forget that we’re on
a quest this time.” Lin Rui reminded them with a hint of exasperation as he patted the two who were still in a daze.
“Oh, yeah! We know!” Although they answered verbally, Peter’s gaze was still fixed outside, and Jack was no different.
It wasn’t surprising that Peter and Jack, who had come from Earth, were acting like country bumpkins in a big city. Asgard was awe-inspiring for Earthlings, and even Lin Rui had been deeply impressed on his first visit.
Standing on the rainbow bridge, with the starry sky above and the boundless universe below, it was impossible for anyone to quickly calm down.
Swish!
Just as Lin Rui and his companions had settled into the “speedboat,” the craft had already started, and its instant acceleration nearly threw the three of them out. As for Thor, Asgard had no flight restrictions, and he flew faster with his hammer than Lin Rui and his companions’ speedboat.
“Wow!”
With the wind of Asgard whipping against him, Peter leaned over the side of the boat, shouting loudly in an undignified manner, while Lin Rui sat calmly at the front of the boat, contemplating his own thoughts.
Although Asgard had experienced wars with the Frost Giants and the Dark Elves over the Aether Particle in the past, thanks to Lin Rui’s intervention, Asgard’s current situation was much better than what he had originally known.
Odin had indeed aged and seen a significant decrease in his power. He could now only rest in his palace. However, the awakened Thor was more than capable of carrying the burden, especially in a situation where Loki wasn’t causing trouble. Asgard’s fighting strength was well-preserved.
“However, the stronger Asgard becomes, does it also mean that… the return of that person will be more formidable?” Lin Rui mused silently as his gaze swept over the grand buildings of Asgard.
Presently, Asgard could claim to be the ruler of the Nine Realms not because it was elected by the other worlds within Yggdrasil but because it had earned that position through sheer strength.
In his earlier years, Odin had engaged in numerous wars across the Nine Realms, often wielding the Odin Staff in battles. However, after unifying the Nine Realms, he had switched to a policy of conciliation.
Nevertheless, Lin Rui remembered that when Odin was conquering the Nine Realms, he wasn’t alone. He had a powerful warrior by his side: Hela.
“This is the true firstborn of Asgard, the first heir, and even stronger than Thor. I wonder when this elder sister will come out and cause trouble.”
As Lin Rui’s gaze passed over the magnificent palaces of Asgard, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding.
