“**Ego’s Seed…**”

Looking at the eerie seed that resembled a beating heart inside the glass container in front of him, Lin Rui furrowed his brows and muttered softly.

This seed was something Lin Rui had found on Earth after Ego had left with Star-Lord. It had been stored in this facility ever since, with J.A.R.V.I.S monitoring it constantly.

However, J.A.R.V.I.S hadn’t sent any alerts about changes, but Lin Rui was sensing something peculiar about it.

“J.A.R.V.I.S hasn’t issued any special warnings, indicating that this seed hasn’t changed like before. But my instincts wouldn’t act up without reason. So… it’s likely something’s gone wrong with Star-Lord.”

As he extended his hand to sense the condition of the seed through the glass container, Lin Rui contemplated. When Ego took Star-Lord away, Lin Rui had given him a small gift as a token of goodwill, considering that Star-Lord had just discovered his true parentage.

However, Yondu was fully aware of Ego’s sinister intentions, and he had pursued Star-Lord shortly afterward. Lin Rui had occasional contact with both Star-Lord and Yondu during this period. But for the past few days, he had been unable to reach Star-Lord.

Therefore, upon sensing the unusual fluctuations emanating from the seed left behind by Ego on Earth, Lin Rui retrieved the communicator Star-Lord had left him. However, just like the previous days, Star-Lord had not responded to his message.

Subsequently, Lin Rui sent a message to Yondu.

In the original storyline, Star-Lord and his team successfully detonated a high-energy bomb at the core of Ego’s planet, killing him. Unfortunately, when Star-Lord and Yondu left the planet, they had only one set of survival suits designed for outer space, and Yondu sacrificed himself by giving his suit to Star-Lord.

Of course, if the story didn’t follow the usual course, Yondu would not have sacrificed himself. Before chasing after Star-Lord, Lin Rui had specifically advised him to have multiple sets of these space survival suits at all times. So even if the events leading up to this moment remained the same, Yondu would still be alive.

“However, what if the story deviates? If Ego isn’t as foolish and is much more powerful than Star-Lord and his team? Perhaps, they never had a chance to destroy Ego in the first place.”

Removing his hand from the glass container, Lin Rui’s brows remained furrowed.

“Jackson, is there something you need?” Just as Lin Rui was pondering the situation on Star-Lord’s side, the lights in this secret chamber gradually brightened, and the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. echoed.

J.A.R.V.I.S. finally questioned Lin Rui’s presence. As Stark’s most advanced artificial intelligence, while J.A.R.V.I.S. couldn’t truly replicate human thought, it could simulate it to a considerable extent, thanks to its vast database.

“J.A.R.V.I.S., it’s nothing. By the way, store this seed separately in a sealed chamber, ensuring it can be destroyed at any time,” Lin Rui shook his head to indicate that everything was fine before adding his instructions.

In Lin Rui’s recollection of the storyline, Ego, while consuming Star-Lord’s celestial energy, also initiated a cataclysmic event on countless inhabited planets.

“Understood.”

With Lin Rui’s command, J.A.R.V.I.S. controlled a mechanical arm to take the glass container containing Ego’s seed and transfer it via an automated passage to a sealed chamber with absolute firepower.

“Well, I’ll be on my way then.”

After ensuring that J.A.R.V.I.S. had properly secured the seed, Lin Rui once again stepped through a Spatial Teleportation gate and vanished.

When Lin Rui emerged from the Spatial Teleportation gate, he was back in his own home. Why didn’t he return to Tony’s luxurious villa? Because Yondu had already responded to Lin Rui’s message. Lin Rui was about to embark on another journey, and he didn’t want Tony to catch him before he left.

Stretching out on his small bed, Lin Rui retrieved his vibrating universal communicator. A holographic screen quickly appeared, and a blue figure swiftly materialized before him – Yondu, Star-Lord’s adoptive father.

“Phantom Knight! You said Ego’s going to take action against Star-Lord?!” As soon as the communication connected, Yondu anxiously fired off his question.

Lin Rui had just sent Yondu a message about Ego potentially making a move, and with Star-Lord not responding, Yondu was understandably worried. He had been chasing after Star-Lord but hadn’t caught up with him yet.

“Yeah, it should be soon. Have you caught up to Star-Lord?” Lin Rui asked quickly, observing Yondu’s distinctive blue appearance.

“Not yet. It’ll take at least half a day to reach Star-Lord’s spaceship. Will it be in time?”

“Half a day should be enough. Star-Lord and his team aren’t fools; they won’t let themselves be taken advantage of even if they discover something’s amiss,” Lin Rui replied, reassured by Yondu’s response.

In the storyline as Lin Rui knew it, Star-Lord had inherited some of Ego’s powers, which was why Ego had deceived him into coming to his home planet with the intention of consuming him. After all, as a celestial being, Ego had sired countless offspring throughout the universe, but only Star-Lord had inherited his power.

“Alright, I’ll get there as soon as possible! Phantom Knight, if you can help in any way, I hope you will. Ego is incredibly powerful, and I’m not sure if Star-Lord and his team can handle him,” Yondu said sincerely as their communication was about to end.

The next moment, the holographic screen disappeared. Almost immediately, Lin Rui received a set of coordinates. Glancing at them, he knew it was the location of Star-Lord and his team.

“Of course, I’ll help. While Star-Lord may not be the brightest guy around, he does have that protagonist aura. Let’s consider this as a chance to borrow some of his plot armor,” Lin Rui muttered to himself as he put away the communicator.

From the moment Lin Rui suddenly sensed something amiss to the moment he contacted Yondu, only about ten minutes had passed. Going by the regular progression of the story, Star-Lord and his team were likely not in imminent danger at this point. Therefore, Lin Rui wasn’t in a rush.

“This time… should I bring some others along for the ride?” Lin Rui estimated the level of danger on Ego’s side and thought that this support mission might give some of his fellow heroes a chance to broaden their horizons.

As Earth had repeatedly encountered extraterrestrial civilizations and threats, Lin Rui’s companions had developed a strong interest in the cosmos. During the invasion by Dormammu, Spider-Man and others had already met Star-Lord and Yondu from the universe, fueling their excitement.

Therefore, after a brief contemplation in his bed, Lin Rui once again stepped through the Spatial Teleportation gate and disappeared. Ten minutes later, Lin Rui, accompanied by Spider-Man Pietro Parker, appeared in the Nightcrawler team’s base.

As Lin Rui and Parker arrived, Jack, who had been in deep meditation, instantly opened his eyes with excitement. Lin Rui had contacted him just a while ago, mentioning that he would take him on a special rescue quest. Although Lin Rui hadn’t specified the nature of the quest, joining Phantom Knight on a mission was clearly a significant opportunity.

“Sky’s Eye, keep an eye on… that one. We shouldn’t be gone for long,” Lin Rui instructed Sky’s Eye, referring to Stryker’s lone experiment, the former Number Two, now known as Jerry Mi. After spending this much time in the Nightcrawler team, they had learned of Jerry Mi’s extraordinary mutated abilities, numbering thirteen in total.

Lin Rui didn’t have a foolproof solution for dealing with Jerry Mi, so he had to keep an eye on him and hope nothing went wrong.

“Okay!”
