HOM-Chapter 1317 Contact With Bucky

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

While Bucky hadn’t immediately acquired the Pym Particles, his main purpose for coming over wasn’t that. In fact, Bucky didn’t know why Jackson had summoned him, and he wasn’t aware of any specific needs or assistance that Scott might require.

The previous situation with Darren Cross had been resolved, Scott had reconciled with his ex-wife, and he had gained visitation rights to his daughter. His career was also on the upswing, even if it wasn’t at the highest level.

His romantic relationship with Dr. Pym’s daughter, Hope, was flourishing. It seemed like a period of plenty for Scott.

However, Bucky knew that Jackson wouldn’t call him over without a reason. Perhaps, in the near future, something significant might happen here, much like T’Challa and Wakanda.

So, amidst Scott’s uncertainty, Bucky settled into their company. According to Bucky, during his stay here, he could assist Scott with various tasks, such as providing security.

Of course, Scott had no intention of having the powerful Bucky work as a security guard or give him any random tasks. Instead, he treated him like a friend visiting his home for a while. However, Scott didn’t know how long this period would last.

Scott also didn’t know whether he should inform Bucky’s girlfriend, Hope, about his arrival. As for the Dr. Pym, that was out of the question. Scott had learned from Hope that Dr. Pym and SHIELD were not on good terms, so he wasn’t about to insert himself into that conflict.

So, after Bucky had idled around the company for three days, Scott finally assigned him a task: delivering goods. After all, someone of Bucky’s stature certainly had a hearty appetite, and Scott figured it was a good way for Bucky to stay active.

Moreover, Jackson had assured Bucky that he had taken care of any SHIELD tracking, so Bucky needn’t worry about surveillance.

Thus, on the fourth day since leaving Wakanda, Bucky was driving Scott’s car, wearing loose-fitting clothes, and delivering goods. There were no forced Quests or thrilling events, and Bucky’s life had returned to the routine he’d experienced in Wakanda.

“Jackson, what are you up to? You’ve been responding to messages so slowly lately; I have no idea what you’re doing,” Bucky thought to himself as he watched the bustling crowd outside.

Although Lin Rui hadn’t given Bucky any mandatory Quests when he left him in Wakanda, he’d provided Bucky with the opportunity to connect with T’Challa. However, getting close to T’Challa, who was part of Wakanda’s royal lineage, without attracting attention had proven challenging.

Now, Bucky’s life at Scott’s place could easily be described as one of eating and sleeping. If this continued, Bucky worried that his well-defined abs would soon disappear.

Scott, without his Ant-Man suit, was essentially just a scientist. Bucky was willing to help, but every time he saw Scott fiddling with those intricate gadgets, he got a headache. He decided not to interfere too much; after all, he might inadvertently cause more harm than good.

Ding, ding!

As Bucky finished delivering the goods and returned to the car, his communicator in his pocket suddenly rang. However, it wasn’t the distinctive sound Lin Rui’s messages made. With a hint of curiosity, Bucky retrieved the communicator and activated the holographic screen.

Hum.

A semi-transparent projection displayed a figure whose face wasn’t entirely visible. The person seemed to be in a dimly lit room surrounded by computer equipment.

“Did Jackson give my contact information to someone else?” Bucky wondered as he observed the figure in the hologram.

Before Bucky could speak, the figure in the projection began to talk, “Hello, I’m Sky’s Eye. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Bucky.”

Bucky paused, surprised by this unexpected encounter.

Three days ago, Tony and T’Challa had discussed further negotiations with promising results. T’Challa, representing Wakanda, expressed willingness to form an alliance with SHIELD and the Earth Federation. The two parties would initiate friendly exchanges in the field of scientific and technological cooperation.

In addition to technical exchanges, SHIELD and the Earth Federation would assist Wakanda in gradually reintroducing itself to the world in a non-disruptive manner.

The best approach was to slowly disseminate Wakanda’s history globally and then use one or two superhero incidents to reveal Black Panther. Afterward, everything would become much simpler.

As long as the methods were suitable, reintroducing Wakanda to the world wouldn’t be too challenging. However, the Earth Federation needed to manage the economic impact of Wakanda, a nation with vast wealth and advanced technology, reappearing in modern society.

After thoroughly addressing the Wakanda issue, Lin Rui had been pulled back by Tony to work on nanotechnology together. That’s why he hadn’t been able to respond to Bucky’s messages lately.

On the third day, Lin Rui shared Bucky’s contact information with Sky’s Eye, who had nothing to do but monitor the Nightcrawler forums and handle rogue Vigilantes. Sky’s Eye usually dealt with these rogue Vigilantes who lacked superpowers and often caused trouble.

Therefore, upon discovering that a group of individuals in Bucky’s city was falsely claiming to be Vigilantes and causing problems, Sky’s Eye decided to contact Bucky.

Lin Rui had informed Sky’s Eye about Bucky’s unique status and the need to keep him away from SHIELD agents, so Sky’s Eye was also assisting Bucky in keeping a low profile.

However, Lin Rui had also informed Sky’s Eye that Bucky was capable, almost like Captain America without a shield.

This comparison to Captain America didn’t sit well with Sky’s Eye. Captain America was his idol, and even if Captain’s strength might not be extraordinary, his determination was unparalleled.

“If he’s as capable as they say, I’ll leave these troublemakers disguised as Vigilantes to him… Mr. Bucky,” Sky’s Eye muttered to himself as he looked at the blurry figure on the screen.

“Just disband this fake Vigilante organization? Is that all?” Bucky asked after listening to Sky’s Eye’s explanation.

This seemed like a straightforward task for Bucky, lacking any real challenge. It was essentially a matter of locating these individuals and using his skills to deal with them.

“Yes, that’s it. Jackson told me you have other Quests to fulfill, but these are pressing matters,” Sky’s Eye replied.

“Alright, I’ll handle it.”
