As Scott stared at the somewhat familiar face in front of him, he was momentarily taken aback. Although more than half a year had passed, the brief experience from those few days had left a deep impression on him. The tall and muscular figure standing before him had been one of the mysterious individuals who had assisted him back then.
Of course, they had also made off with an Ant-Man suit, which Scott had no control over.
“Why are you here? Did the other… one not come?” After the initial surprise, Scott lowered his voice and inquired.
Last time, Lin Rui and Bucky had been helping Scott, but they had never revealed their identities. Furthermore, they had disappeared after taking an Ant-Man suit.
Scott had learned some details from Dr. Pym and suspected that they might be advanced agents of SHIELD. So, facing Bucky, who had suddenly appeared at his doorstep, caution was necessary.
Unlike Dr. Pym, who held a grudge against SHIELD, Scott didn’t see anything wrong with them. In fact, he was a big fan of Captain America. So, upon seeing Bucky, he was primarily concerned about the possibility of Dr. Pym discovering his presence.
“I got separated from Jackson. He’s busy with other matters right now. I had nothing to do, so he sent me here. I hope you don’t mind.” Bucky explained briefly while lifting the brim of his cap.
Scott: “…”
Scott found himself momentarily speechless at Bucky’s straightforward explanation. However, he wasn’t sure whether he should be concerned or not. After all, Bucky had provided him with assistance in the past.
“Come in. I don’t know why your companion sent you here.” Scott stepped aside from the doorway, allowing Bucky to enter the apartment, which seemed to serve as a mix of a company office and a storage room.
“Scott, who’s that? Food delivery? It came pretty fast today!” As Bucky entered, Luis shouted from the “office.” Luis was not only Scott’s friend but also his partner in their small company, where Scott often worked as a deliveryman.
“Got it!” Scott responded as he picked up the package, ready to make the delivery. However, just as he reached the door, he heard a knock from the outside.
Thump, thump, thump…
“I’m coming!” Scott, still holding the package, walked over to open the door.
Creak—
As the door swung open, Scott was greeted by a somewhat familiar figure. A tall, muscular person dressed in all black with a cap, closely resembling one of the mysterious individuals who had helped him and then vanished nearly half a year ago.
“Hello, is this… the company? May I ask who you’re looking for?” After a moment of surprise, Scott, who had not seen the other person’s face yet, inquired first.
Upon hearing Scott’s voice, the person slowly raised their head, revealing a familiar face.
“You are…”
“Hello, Scott.”
The man said calmly, his smile hinting at new adventures and challenges.
Scott, Luis, and Scott all stared at Bucky in astonishment. They recognized him as one of the SHIELD’s advanced agents who had once assisted Scott. However, Bucky had never revealed his identity during their previous encounters, so this sudden revelation left them all quite surprised.
Luis, who was always eager for excitement, couldn’t contain his excitement. “He’s one of those SHIELD’s advanced agents? No wonder he looks so different! That physique! That presence!”
Scott gave Bucky a meaningful look, silently conveying his understanding of the need for secrecy regarding Bucky’s identity. While Dr. Pym held a grudge against SHIELD, Scott didn’t share the same sentiment and was, in fact, a fan of Captain America.
After the initial shock, the trio settled down, although the atmosphere remained somewhat awkward. Bucky had come without a clear purpose, Scott didn’t know why he was there, and Luis was eagerly waiting for gossip.
Eventually, Scott broke the silence. “So, I still don’t know your name?”
“I’d rather not say. My identity is quite special, and it’s better if you don’t know,” Bucky replied, hesitant to reveal his name.
“Alright, but you mentioned your companion is named Jackson. Does his identity not need to be kept secret?” Scott asked, raising an eyebrow.
Scott understood the necessity of keeping Bucky’s identity confidential if he truly was an advanced SHIELD agent. However, he found it odd that Jackson’s name wasn’t considered confidential.
Bucky pondered for a moment. “I don’t think he minds.”
Scott and Luis exchanged glances but didn’t push the matter further.
“Then, what brings you here this time? Did you find Darren Cross, the one who went missing?” Scott inquired, changing the topic.
While the Ant-Man incident had concluded with their victory and the regaining of control over Pym Technologies, Darren Cross had still not been found.
“Jackson said it’s not an issue, so no need to worry. As for Darren Cross’s fate, I think it might not be too good,” Bucky replied nonchalantly.
Bucky’s matter-of-fact tone suggested that Jackson had likely dealt with Darren Cross, given his disdain for the man. If SHIELD hadn’t apprehended Darren Cross, then Jackson probably had.
Scott felt relieved at the news. Lawrence had been nothing more than a slightly intelligent ordinary person, and without the support of Pym Technologies, he wouldn’t pose any significant threat.
“Alright…”
“As for why I’m here, I’m not entirely sure myself. I’m on a sort of vacation, but due to my unique identity, I have nowhere to go. So, Jackson sent me here to see if there’s anything I can help with.”
“By the way, my Ant-Man suit is out of Pym Particles and needs a refill.”
Scott: …
Listening to Bucky’s words, Scott had many thoughts he wanted to voice but found it hard to express them. Why would someone on vacation come here, and what help did they expect to offer? Besides, Scott had no access to Pym Particles; Dr. Pym controlled them.
“I welcome you to stay here as my guest. However, regarding the Pym Particles, I don’t have any. They’re all with Dr. Pym,” Scott replied honestly.
“Only Dr. Pym has them? Well, in that case, it’s not a problem. Jackson should be able to develop them soon. In the meantime, I’ll be bothering you guys.”
Scott, Luis: …
Pym Particles… Could they really be developed so easily?
