A dazzling burst of golden light erupted from Loki’s scepter, colliding with the oncoming thunderbolts, and creating a rift in their midst. Loki stood unharmed within the center of this breach.
Roar!
Lightning bolts shot out in all directions from Loki, their power capable of creating craters tens of meters deep on the ground below. Fortunately, their battle took place in the skies, sparing the Asgardian army below from the collateral damage of their fierce combat.
While Loki had pierced a rift in the midst of the thunderstorm with his Odin’s scepter, disregarding the attacks around him, Thor suddenly materialized in front of him. Thor did not expect his previous move to defeat Loki outright, so he swung his hammer directly at Loki.
As a god of war, Thor wasn’t as skilled in magic as Loki. Even if he unleashed several times the amount of lightning as before, Loki might still have blocked it. Therefore, Thor decisively chose to rely on his expertise in close combat.
Thor had great confidence in his close combat abilities. Throughout Asgard and other realms, Thor was known as a brawler, wielding his hammer without hesitation. His close combat skills were honed through countless battles, in stark contrast to Loki, who had lived a life of privilege in Asgard and focused on mastering magic from a young age.
Facing Thor’s sudden approach, Loki remained unfazed. Just as Thor hadn’t anticipated Loki’s ability to send him flying earlier, he had no way of knowing if Loki’s close combat skills matched his preconceptions.
In the Marvel movie storyline, Loki had earned a reputation for being a cunning fighter. In the original story, Thor had no idea how many times Loki had caught him off guard. Although these confrontations usually occurred when Thor was unprepared, they demonstrated that Loki was no pushover in close combat.
So, with a deft upward motion of his scepter, Loki deflected both Thor and his hammer. Then, he wielded the scepter like a spear, sending countless beams of golden light toward Thor, who was charging back at him.
Thor, after a brief moment of surprise, finally cast aside his arrogance and focused on defending against the barrage of golden beams.
Zap!
Thor didn’t utter a word; instead, he began drawing the previously rampant lightning in the sky back onto his body. To deal with the now-altered Loki, Thor felt he had to take this battle seriously.
Boom!
Golden light and blue-white lightning clashed in the sky, and Thor and Loki’s figures constantly shifted and teleported. In that moment, the two princes of Asgard staged an epic battle before the entire army, as they stood in confrontation with the Frost Giants on the battlefield below.
From the current situation, it appeared that Thor and Loki were evenly matched in their duel. Thor had the upper hand in close combat, but Loki was adept at using his magic to turn the tide and occasionally gain the upper hand.
So, while the Asgardian army watched in bewilderment, Thor and Loki continued their battle until they reached the wilderness at the forefront of the standoff between the Asgardian army and the Frost Giant clan. At this point, both Loki and Thor were too preoccupied with their duel to pay any attention to the armies or the battlefield.
Though the battle between Thor and Loki left the Asgardian army perplexed, they couldn’t afford to let the Frost Giants seize the opportunity to attack or launch an assault. Several Advanced warriors from Asgard led elite forces, shadowing Thor and Loki’s movements to protect the battlefield.
On the other side, the Frost Giant clan had already noticed that something was amiss. As Thor and Loki’s battlefield approached the central battleground of both armies, the troops on both sides witnessed the extraordinary battle erupting within Asgard.
“Is that… Loki and Thor?!…”
The intense energy fluctuations above his head left Laufey momentarily stunned. The battle raged on just above him, and he was unsure of what to do next. It was evident to Laufey that Loki and Thor were fighting due to the aftermath of Loki’s power grab.
If the Frost Giant clan were on equal footing with Asgard in terms of strength, Laufey would have likely ordered an attack by now. However, the Frost Giants were inherently weaker than Asgard, and even if Loki and Thor were currently engaged in a civil war, launching an attack might not guarantee victory.
“Should I go and take a look…? Perhaps there’s a chance to eliminate these two new generation powerhouses of Asgard…” Laufey pondered to himself while monitoring the intensity of the aerial battle.
Although Asgard remained significantly stronger than the Frost Giant clan, Odin had entered Ragnarok, and his slumber might spell his demise. At this moment, the new God of Thunder, Thor, and Loki, who was no less formidable, were at odds, showing no intention of holding back.
Therefore, Laufey believed that his intervention might indeed defeat them both and potentially lead to Asgard’s decline.
After much contemplation underground, Laufey abandoned his initial plan but still decided to take action. However, his strategy shifted from attacking both Thor and Loki to targeting Loki alone.
After all, if Thor were to inherit the throne of Asgard, he would likely choose peace, but Loki was a different story—hadn’t he initiated a race war immediately after seizing power?
With his decision made, Laufey’s colossal form vanished from beneath the ground in an instant. The next moment, a massive ice-blue figure appeared in the midst of Loki and Thor’s aerial battle. Laufey materialized directly behind Loki and swiftly thrust a sharp ice spike towards Loki’s back.
Pū!
Loki, fully engrossed in his battle with Thor, didn’t react to the sudden attack from behind. The ice spike pierced Loki’s back with brutal force, protruding from his chest, blood staining its tip.
Caught off guard by the surprise attack, Loki tumbled forward uncontrollably and was struck on the shoulder by Thor’s hammer, sending him plummeting into the wilderness below.
Boom!
With a deafening crash, Loki, under the “collaborative” efforts of Laufey and Thor, crashed forcefully into the ground, finally coming to rest in the enormous crater created by his impact.
