In fact, during the last unexpected crossover incident where Lin Rui and Deadpool found themselves on an alien planet through Spatial Teleportation, they not only encountered Star-Lord but also ran into Yondu.
If Star-Lord and Yondu had found the opportunity to have a proper conversation on that occasion, perhaps Yondu might have already revealed the truth about Star-Lord’s biological father. However, Star-Lord had been avoiding Yondu, and that opportunity had never arisen.
Speaking of Yondu, he was far from a saint as a space pirate. Moreover, it was Yondu who had taken Star-Lord from Earth in pursuit of a hefty reward. Yondu’s actions, which included human trafficking, violated the rules of the space pirate factions and led to his expulsion and a less-than-ideal life afterward.
However, after taking Star-Lord from Earth, Yondu had an agreement to deliver him to his biological father, Ego, in exchange for the reward that Ego had posted for taking Star-Lord.
It was just that, after learning about Ego’s true intentions and his quest to find his offspring throughout the universe, Yondu unilaterally terminated the agreement. Since then, he had been wandering the cosmos with Star-Lord, all the while avoiding Ego.
Over time, Star-Lord, who had once been a small, terrified child, grew up and no longer feared Yondu’s intimidating words from his childhood. In order to establish his own reputation in the universe, Star-Lord left the pirate faction. Since then, he had been evading Yondu while taking on various quests, living a rather carefree life.
Initially, after the Ronan incident and forming his own team, Star-Lord thought that his future days would be even more carefree. However, his girlfriend was Thanos’ adopted daughter, and one of his companions, Drax, had a personal vendetta against Thanos. Therefore, they were destined to confront Thanos in the future.
In order to have the strength to face Thanos when the time came, Star-Lord and his team had been working hard. Now, Star-Lord’s return to Earth had been accompanied by a series of unexpected events. Encountering Dormammu was unfortunate, and meeting his biological father was a matter that left Star-Lord conflicted.
So, when he heard Lin Rui suggest talking to Yondu, Star-Lord was somewhat skeptical and unsure. While Star-Lord knew that Yondu had intimidated him from a young age, he had also treated him well. However, he didn’t expect to learn anything about his biological father from Yondu.
Moreover, even if Star-Lord wanted to contact Yondu now, he couldn’t do it immediately. The Nine Realms, where Earth was located, was a relatively remote and inconspicuous corner of the universe.
Normally, no core cosmic civilization would come here. Star-Lord’s biological father, Ego, was currently in a star system near Earth, so contacting Yondu wouldn’t be feasible.
“Yondu… I might as well figure it out on my own,” Star-Lord shook his head and temporarily dismissed the idea of contacting Yondu.
“In that case, I don’t have anything else to tell you. Just remember, even if Ego is your biological father, you should think carefully about his intentions for coming to find you. Perhaps, he’s not as good as you imagine,” Knowing about the conflict between Star-Lord and Yondu, Lin Rui didn’t say much more, but he tried to offer a cautionary note.
“Alright, thanks, Jackson,” Star-Lord expressed his gratitude, and Lin Rui’s guarded tone was evident. Star-Lord had spent so many years without his biological father that he had come to believe that the man might not even exist.
Now, with his sudden, powerful appearance, Star-Lord was actually quite happy. However, Lin Rui’s words left him with some doubts.
“Well, since you’re back to visit your home planet, you might as well spend some time exploring Earth. You should know that Earth is no longer the same as it was decades ago,” Lin Rui diverted the conversation, observing Star-Lord’s changing expressions.
“Of course! Although my mother passed away when I left Earth, I still have some other relatives here. Even if they might not remember me, I need to go back and see,” Star-Lord’s eyes lit up at Lin Rui’s suggestion.
With that, Star-Lord stood up from the couch, pulling Gamora to her feet as well. After spending so many years away from Earth and pondering the matters concerning his biological father, Star-Lord’s excitement at returning to see how the world had changed finally burst forth.
“Jackson, can I borrow a car? I want to take Gamora out for a spin,” After standing up, Star-Lord gazed through the living room’s floor-to-ceiling windows at the bustling streets of New York City and asked Lin Rui.
“Sure, you can borrow a car, but can you drive? On Earth, you need a driver’s license,” Tony replied before Lin Rui, his tone filled with amusement, and he followed up with another question.
Although Star-Lord was skilled at piloting spaceships, he had left Earth at the age of seven and had never returned. So, he likely had no experience with driving cars. After all, while other civilizations had their modes of transportation, they were undoubtedly different from Earth’s automobiles.
“Uh… a driver’s license? I don’t have one,” Star-Lord replied somewhat sheepishly to Tony’s question. However, he added, “But I have a strong learning ability. I can get a driver’s license right away.”
“Alright, if you think it’s okay, I’ll arrange for you to get a driver’s license,” Tony said, smiling, as he realized Star-Lord wasn’t joking.
Star-Lord then had J.A.R.V.I.S. send him the contents of the driver’s license exam. He stood in place, and his helmet appeared, covering his head. In a place invisible to Lin Rui and Tony, Star-Lord’s eyes flickered as he absorbed the technical details and key points of driving a car. In less than a minute, Star-Lord’s helmet disappeared.
“Phew, it’s quite simple. I’ve already taken simulated driver’s license exams for over ten different types of vehicles online, so I should be fine,” Star-Lord said with a relieved sigh, looking at Lin Rui and Tony.
Star-Lord’s helmet wasn’t merely playing back information on driving a car; it directly transmitted the content into Star-Lord’s memory, a technology characteristic of advanced cosmic civilizations at the center of the universe.
“J.A.R.V.I.S., take Star-Lord and Miss Gamora to the garage to choose a car. As for the driver’s license, you can help him with that,” Tony said after suppressing his surprise and snapping his fingers.
“Yes, sir.”
A few minutes later, a sleek blue sports car roared out of the underground garage of Stark Industries, speeding into the bustling streets of New York.
