HOM-Chapter 1181 Vanish

As Dormammu drew closer to the North American continent, the expanse of his spreading dark mist grew larger and larger.

Of course, the united efforts of various nations and powers on the continent to combat him had not ceased, but they had yielded minimal results. Some of their energy attacks were even directly absorbed by Dormammu, accelerating the expansion of his “Dark Canopy.”

Rumbling…

“What a delightful aroma!” Explosions erupted throughout his body, but Dormammu paid no attention to them, savoring the pleasure brought by devouring Earth’s energy.

Except for the Ancient One at his peak, Dormammu had no regard for anyone on Earth. As for those little guys who had been trying to stop him earlier, once Dormammu absorbed more of Earth’s energy, the power of this manifestation would skyrocket, and he could easily obliterate them. So, at this moment, Dormammu had no inhibitions.

However, busy expanding his range by consuming Earth’s energy, Dormammu failed to notice that at the edge of the region he had covered in North America, faint golden glimmers were rapidly blinking.

Those blinking golden lights were Earth’s sorcerers performing magic Spatial Teleportation. Each blink represented a sorcerer appearing at the edge of the continent shrouded by Dormammu.

Soon, hundreds of sorcerers had connected the entire region covered by Dormammu according to specific positions. Then, hidden spatial fluctuations simultaneously emanated from those hundreds of positions.

The Earth sorcerers, who were originally supposed to confront Dormammu’s main forces, finally took action, this time using a massive spatial magic that covered the entire continent – the Mirror Dimension!

In the command center of a top-secret military base in the United States, the President stared at the screen in silence as the all-encompassing black mist descended like a looming storm. He knew that no matter how many rounds of firepower they unleashed, they couldn’t harm that mass of black mist.

“Could it be… Earth is really going to be destroyed like this?” He clenched his fists tightly and growled through gritted teeth.

Standing beside the President was the General, who appeared very calm but had a resolute look in his eyes. The military base where they were located was also within the range of Dormammu’s black mist, so they wouldn’t survive if Dormammu descended.

Outside, in various cities large and small, the highest-level air raid sirens had long been blaring. As Dormammu broke through the atmosphere and appeared in Earth’s high sky, and countless projectiles and lasers were launched, ordinary citizens no longer needed to ask official sources what was happening.

Because the missiles and laser beams streaking into the sky like fireworks had already revealed everything.

So, when the air raid sirens sounded, countless ordinary people began to flee in panic, searching for their loved ones and seeking refuge in what they deemed safe places.

Chaos was inevitable, but with Earth’s nations powerless against Dormammu’s invasion, they could only hope that these ordinary people would find a way to survive on their own.

Of course, in addition to the countless ordinary citizens fleeing in panic and seeking safe havens, there was a very small minority of people who chose not to hide.

This small group consisted of individuals on Earth who possessed special abilities, including Mutants, metahumans, enhanced individuals, and various others who usually hid among ordinary people.

In a residential area in the Queens district of New York, Tom, dressed in black combat attire, stood in a corner of a building, looking up at the rapidly descending rolling black mist.

He had just dealt with a very discreet drug trafficking organization with Kick-Ass and had only just retreated when the sky changed. Compared to the panic of others, Tom, who was no longer an ordinary person, placed his right hand on his waist, ready for battle, even though he knew his powers meant nothing against that black mist.

Many others acted similarly to Tom, and members of the League of Defenders who hadn’t left with Lin Rui were calmly facing the impending disaster. At Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, Storm had arranged her students and teachers and stood on the lawn, with each person radiating waves of mutated energy.

While ordinary citizens frantically sought refuge and safe places, superhumans with special abilities stood their ground, awaiting Dormammu’s arrival. Suddenly, they felt something pass in front of them, and then, the black mist that had covered the entire sky vanished!

The sudden disappearance of the black mist caused the sun, previously obscured, to shine down once more. The sudden brightness made everyone squint, and some even shed tears. However, despite the dazzling sunlight, no one wanted to look away, fearing that the scene before them was an illusion.

But, aside from the missiles and laser beams that had lost their targets and were still exploding in the sky, the black mist that had nearly reached the city had indeed disappeared.

Everything seemed like a hallucination, and the air raid sirens were still blaring. The streetlights on the roadsides were still on, and those ordinary citizens who hadn’t had time to find shelter were left stunned, unsure whether to continue hiding.

At Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, on the lush green lawn, the teachers gathered and looked up at the sky, observing the changes that had just occurred. However, no one could discern exactly what had happened.

“Just… what happened just now?” Storm murmured to herself, using her powers to sense the environment but feeling no changes. Storm’s abilities allowed her to perceive subtle changes in her surroundings, but there had been no change at all.

“I don’t know, but it seems to be a positive development,” Colossus, standing beside Storm, responded with a buzzing tone.

“Let’s hope so. Any news from the Professor?”

“Um… I’ll go and check.”

In a residential area in the Queens district of New York, Tom’s right hand, which had been hidden at his waist, quietly relaxed. Like Storm and her group, Tom had not sensed any signs of Dormammu’s arrival, and the oppressive feeling that had weighed on his heart had disappeared.

So, Tom speculated that someone had taken action.

“Jackson… is it you?” Without paying attention to the tears that had welled up in his eyes, Tom stared at the sun and murmured softly.

A dozen or so seconds after the black mist had vanished into thin air, various military bases that had been launching weapons finally ceased their fire. The sudden disappearance of the black mist left every nation and faction bewildered; they had no idea what was happening.
