Su Jing had assumed that the man and his associates wouldn’t dare to cross his path again but here he is again. Curiosity piqued, he decided to answer the call and got straight to the point. “What information do you have?” he asked.
“Do you remember Song Junhao?” A’Diao’s voice came through the phone.
“I remember,” Su Jing replied. The name Song Junhao held significant weight in his life. As the young master of the Song Family and the intended groom of Wang Yan, Song Junhao had been the source of deep enmity between Su Jing and himself.
After Song Junhao’s failed attempt to kidnap and cripple Su Jing, Su Jing had shown him no mercy and had driven him to madness, and consigned him to a mental institution. Su Jing wondered why A’Diao would bring up Song Junhao now. “Why are you mentioning him?”
“I have reliable information that he has escaped from prison. I thought you should be alerted to the possibility of him seeking revenge,” A’Diao explained.
“Escaped? How reliable is this information?” Su Jing’s brow furrowed as he heard this.
“It’s very reliable,” A’Diao assured him.
“Thank you for informing me. I’ll verify the information, and if it proves to be true, I will reward you accordingly,” Su Jing said.
“I once offended you, so this is my way of making amends. I couldn’t dare to ask for a reward,” A’Diao humbly replied.
“Consider it settled. Take the reward,” Su Jing insisted before ending the call. He immediately contacted Su Ti, instructing her to investigate the matter further. The results confirmed A’Diao’s claim— Song Junhao had indeed escaped from prison.
Previously, Su Jing hadn’t given much thought to Song Junhao’s situation once he had been sent to the mental institution.
Su Jing believed he had shattered Song Junhao’s sanity to the point of no return. The possibility of him escaping seemed highly unlikely. So how had this madman managed to break free?
As Su Ti delved deeper into the investigation, it became apparent that Song Junhao likely had assistance in his escape. This wasn’t a mere escape but a carefully orchestrated prison break.
The revelation puzzled Su Jing even more. Who would go through the trouble of rescuing such a deranged individual?
Could it be someone from the Song Family? It seemed audacious, even for them. If the Song Family had wanted to save Song Junhao, they would have acted sooner. So why did they wait until now?
A sense of unease settled over Su Jing as he contemplated the possibilities. Determined to get to the bottom of the matter, he ordered Su Ti and Luo Qilin to conduct a thorough investigation.
After a day of diligent work, they uncovered a series of disturbing facts: Ou Qingsong, Wu Ju, Xu Jing, and several others who had conflicts with Su Jing had all gone missing.
Realization struck Su Jing like a bolt of lightning. These disappearances couldn’t be mere coincidences. There was a clear pattern among this— the individuals who had clashed with him were now mysteriously vanishing.
…
The sudden disappearance of several individuals who had conflicts with Su Jing during the same period raised some suspicions in Su Jig’s heart. It seemed highly unlikely to be a mere coincidence.
Su Jing’s thoughts immediately turned to the escaped Undead and then to the Holy Light emitted by the Angel Badge.
While it was possible that the Undead couldn’t approach him and the country due to the Holy Light’s influence, it was still a formidable Undead Monster from the Undead Clan with other means at his disposal.
However, Su Jing hoped that the involvement of the Undead was not the case. Aside from the Undead, there were no opponents who posed a significant threat to him.
Even if Song Junhao, Ou Qingsong, Wu Ju, Xu Jing, and others joined forces to ambush him, they would still struggle to pose a substantial threat too him.
“These minor matters can be handled by Bai Hetu, Luo Qilin, and others. I’ll continue focusing on acquiring spiritual force and organizing the garbage,” Su Jing pondered. He had nearly exhausted all the places Wei Xiaoxuan had investigated, which were deemed potential sources of attention.
Having absorbed all the available spiritual force, there was no point in continuing the search. Su Jing planned to wait for the Tokyo Olympics and dedicate more time to organizing the garbage before then.
Having rummaged through countless piles of garbage, Su Jing was currently sifting through a heap of fallen leaves. Perhaps due to the surprise he had experienced with the fallen leaves from the “Eternal Life” world, he had developed a peculiar fondness for them and studied them meticulously whenever he encounters them.
The golden-yellow fallen leaves currently sitting on his hand had a palm-shaped appearance with 3-5 lobes, making it easy to identify them as Phoenix Tree leaves. However, they were larger than ordinary Phoenix Tree leaves.
Su Jing had subjected these leaves to various experiments, feeding them to rats and insects, but he hadn’t discovered any remarkable effects.
Just as Su Jing was on the verge of giving up, he noticed a complex rune engraved on one of the fallen leaves.
He stared at it intently, trying to decipher its meaning. Although he had come across some introductions to runes in the pile of waste paper, this particular rune was unlike any he had encountered before.
Delving deeper into the pile of fallen leaves, Su Jing discovered several more leaves bearing similar runes. To his surprise, some of these leaves’ runes fit together seamlessly.
“Could someone be inscribing rune arrays on these fallen leaves?” Su Jing’s curiosity was piqued, prompting him to continue searching for more fallen leaves, hoping to piece the runes together.
However, just as he was engrossed in his search, a sharp scream and a dull collision resonated from the ordinary space where the black coffin was placed.
Su Jing furrowed his brow. Wasn’t the little ghost from the “Zhu Xian” Scroll supposed to be absorbing Yin Qi inside the coffin and cultivating? Could something have gone wrong?
Calling out to Qingyun, Su Jing seemed to teleport into the ordinary space beside the coffin in an instant. Releasing his spiritual force, he opened the coffin.
“What’s happening?” Su Jing was taken aback when he realized that he couldn’t sense the little ghost’s spiritual force. Upon closer inspection, the coffin was empty, and the little ghost seemed to have vanished.
He picked up the Scroll and found a blank piece of paper with no trace of the little ghost in it.
The little ghost had long been hypnotized and was under Su Jing’s control. Although intangible, it still emitted fluctuations in its spiritual essence. It shouldn’t have been able to escape Su Jing’s detection within that space. Could it have escaped from the ordinary space altogether?
