EPHS-Chapter 502 The Objectives of the Khaos Brigade

A massive barrier completely isolated the towns of Auros and Agreas from the outside world. Moreover, there was even a layer of barrier separating the two towns from each other.

At the edge of one of these barriers, Tenraku, Xenovia, and Irina stood.

“Let’s begin, Xenovia, Irina,” Tenraku said.

“Understood!”

With a nod from Tenraku, Xenovia and Irina stepped back a distance, each drawing their respective Holy Swords. Their Spirit Power surged, transforming their Holy Swords into two enormous Spirit Power blades.

“Durandal!!!”

“Excalibur!!!”

The two colossal Spirit Power blades sliced through the air and converged into one, ruthlessly striking the barrier. With a sharp hiss, the barrier was slashed open, leaving a huge crack. However, in less than a second, the crack had already healed as if nothing had happened.

“Damn, what’s up with this barrier? It healed so quickly,” Irina exclaimed, swinging her Excalibur at the barrier, which emitted a metallic clang and even sparked a few times. The barrier was not only incredibly solid but also capable of rapidly recovering from damage, posing quite a challenge.

“While it’s no problem for us to escape, it’s impossible to evacuate the parents, children, and residents of the town in such a short time,” Tenraku concluded.

“Let’s abandon this plan and return,” he decided.

With that, Tenraku activated his Space Leap ability, enveloping the three of them in a flash of light before disappearing from sight.

Back in the school office, Tenraku briefed Rias and Sona on their reconnaissance findings. The gravity of the situation was evident on the faces of the women.

“Sona, how’s the evacuation going?” Tenraku inquired.

“The students and parents participating in the enrollment experience have all entered the shelter. However, it will take some time to guide the residents of the town to safety,” SitriSona replied, and Tenraku nodded.

From the outset of establishing the school, SitriSona had considered the possibility of such emergencies. Therefore, a sturdy shelter had been built underground in the school, though they hadn’t expected to utilize it so soon. To expedite the evacuation, Peerage and Familiars had been dispatched to evacuate and guide the town’s residents.

“Lord Tenraku, Lady Rias, Lady Sona, we have established contact with Agreas and the conference hall,” Yubelluna, Akeno, and Shinra Tsubaki reported.

A magic array unfolded on the ground, and the projections of Sairaorg and Göndul appeared. Due to the barrier’s interference, the signal was quite poor, resulting in blurry projections of the two.

“We’ve finally reached you. Is everything alright on your end?” Tenraku inquired.

“For now, we’re fine, but the situation is quite dire,” Sairaorg replied angrily. “Those bastards from the Khaos Brigade launched a sudden attack at a time like this, and they’re brazen about it!”

“Their audacity is nothing new, but in any case, let’s exchange information,” Rias sighed.

“Between Agreas and Auros, there’s a sturdy barrier,” Göndul explained, pointing to her forehead, where a faintly glowing magic array appeared.

“Are you alright, Granny?” Tenraku asked concernedly.

“Don’t worry, I’m fine. Aside from not being able to use some magic, I’m unharmed,” Göndul reassured.

Rossweisse looked on with concern, but Göndul smiled reassuringly, indicating that she was fine.

“We can still use our Magic Power normally, so it seems the enemy’s objective is indeed the Magic users in the conference hall,” Rias remarked.

“Lately, the Khaos Brigade has been kidnapping Magic users who specialize in ancient Magic, forbidden Magic, and research on the Sovereign Beast 666 – Trihexa. It’s only natural that we’ve become targets,” Göndul explained.

“But how could they achieve this? With your strength, Göndul, it seems impossible for someone to seal your Magic silently,” Rias expressed her puzzlement, a sentiment shared by everyone present.

“Indeed, under normal circumstances, no one could pull off such a feat. However, there’s a possibility,” Göndul suggested. “If it’s that legendary Evil Dragon capable of controlling over a thousand types of Magic—the Forbidden Dragon of Demonic Origin, Aži·Dahāka—with the assistance of external forces, it might just be feasible.”

Upon hearing this, everyone couldn’t help but express their astonishment.

“The Forbidden Dragon of Demonic Origin, Aži·Dahāka?”

“Isn’t that Evil Dragon supposed to be dead already?”

“Right, the Holy Grail!”

Rias and her companions grimaced at the thought. Valerie’s Holy Grail was still in the hands of Rizevim of the Khaos Brigade. It seemed that he had once again used the power of the Holy Grail to resurrect some incredibly dangerous creatures!

“That’s likely the case. However, if the enemy’s objective is just the Magic users in the conference hall, there’s no need to set up such a large-scale barrier. Since Agreas is also encompassed within it, they must have ulterior motives for that area as well,” Rias deduced.

“It may be related to the technology from the old Demon King era. Agreas still utilizes technology from that era, and some aspects remain unresolved. Demon King Ajuka’s research institute is still investigating in the depths of the floating island. As the son of the former Vali Lucifer, Rizevim might be after something on that island,” Göndul speculated.

“Speculating about this now is meaningless. Let’s focus on devising a plan of action. If a battle breaks out, we’ll be fine, but the residents of the town and Agreas will surely be in danger,” SitriSona said seriously, pushing up her glasses.

Sitri Sona must have been the most distressed person considering this unexpected turn of events right after establishing the school. Despite this, the young girl remained remarkably calm from the beginning, evidently prioritizing everyone’s safety over her own dreams.

“We have no problems on our end. Seekvaira, acting as the temporary duke, is overseeing matters in Agreas. She has managed to persuade the stubborn committee members and the mayor, who controls the city’s functions, to guide the island’s residents to the shelters,” Sairaorg reported, prompting nods of approval from the others.

Additionally, Emperor Diehaize Belial and his Peerage are on our side. With the strength of Sairaorg, Seekvaira, and Emperor Diehaize Belial, there’s no need to worry about the forces in Agreas,” Sairaorg reassured, and everyone nodded in agreement.

It seemed that Emperor Diehaize Belial was planning to shoot a movie starring himself on the floating island of Agreas. Just yesterday, he and his Peerage had even visited Sona’s school.

With such powerful teams as Sairaorg’s, Seekvaira’s, and Emperor Diehaize Belial’s, there was indeed no need to worry about the forces in Agreas.

“Göndul, since your Magic has been sealed by the enemy and your strength has likely been compromised, it’s best for all the Magic users in the conference hall to relocate to the school and join forces with us,” Rias suggested, and Göndul nodded in agreement.

Just as they were about to discuss further, a staff member rushed in, clearly out of breath and appearing extremely urgent.

“Princess Sona, outside… outside…”
