Beautiful Pirates were captured along with the horse, temporarily ending their pirate career.
To Jack’s subordinates, the fact that these pirates kept a horse aboard their ship wasn’t surprising. Even though the horse was living a rather luxurious life, members of the Beasts Pirates saw it as normal.
After all, within the Beasts Pirates, many Pokémon were treated better than humans. For example, Jack’s Alcremie and Kojiro’s Arcanine lived pampered lives, receiving meticulous care from their partners. Ordinary people couldn’t hope to compare to them.
The pirates outside don’t have Pokémon, so raising a horse makes perfect sense to them.
This horse, named Farul, was the cherished steed of Cavendish. It had been with him since childhood, and his nickname, the “White Horse,” was also because of Farul.
However, Jack’s subordinates didn’t bother to prepare a separate stable for the horse. Instead, they locked it up alongside the members of the Beautiful Pirates. Moreover, it’s not just people who can mine; horses can also pull carts, and their strength far exceeds that of an ordinary person.
To the Beasts Pirates, the horse was easier to manage than the captured pirates. A simple rein tethered it to the side.
Even if it wanted to resist, there wasn’t much it could do. Cavendish, on the other hand, was proving to be a real headache.
“This guy really is something else.”
“Yeah, after taking that hit from Captain Jack, he still has the strength to fight back.”
Cavendish, locked together with his subordinates, was restrained by two Seastone chains wrapped tightly around his body.
The Beasts Pirates had no shortage of Seastone, and this stone has a wide range of uses. Apart from suppressing Devil Fruit users, it can also serve as an extremely durable chain for ordinary people. When dealing with troublesome captives, Seastone chains provide them with a great deal of reassurance.
Jack had entrusted the keys to the chains to his Alcremie. Since its body was made of cream, it could store small items inside it. Due to its size, however, it couldn’t carry much.
Therefore, the chains on Jack’s ship were quite special. All the locks were of the same model, and a single key can open every one of them.
This important key was entrusted by Jack to Alcremie, without any worry that someone might steal it.
At this moment, Cavendish was still struggling. His face bore the expression of his alter ego, and the rattling of the chains terrified his crewmates.
“H-Hey… could you tie the captain up a bit more securely?”
“Yeah! At least make sure the bindings are tight!”
“Did I hear that right? You’re asking us to tie him up tighter?”
Sheepshead scratched his head, somewhat baffled by the thought processes of these newcomers.
Logically, they should be plotting their escape. According to the usual fate of pirates captured at sea, things rarely ended well—they were either sold to slavers or handed over to the Marines.
At times like this, escape plans should have been their top priority, not… “betrayal”.
“You don’t understand… a sleeping captain isn’t a captain at all…”
This was Cavendish’s unique trait. Ever since discovering the problem with his alter ego, he’d taken to locking himself up securely whenever he slept. If the current Cavendish were to break free of his restraints, the first thing he might do wouldn’t be to plan an escape but to slaughter his own people.
They don’t know what the Beasts Pirates were planning to do with them, but if Cavendish were to break free from his restraints, they would definitely be done for.
Having sailed with Cavendish for so long, they could tell that he was clearly in a state where he couldn’t suppress his alter ego.
“Just stay put quietly; the Seastone chains are not something you can break free from.”
“You should feel honored that Captain Jack has taken an interest in you. Otherwise, you’d already be fish food.”
Ignoring the pirates’ words, Sheepshead turned and left the cabin.
Since Jack had taken a liking to them, they were destined to receive the “best treatment” reserved for Beasts Pirates’ captives: being transported to the mines of Wano Country.
…..
Some time later, Cavendish slowly regained consciousness. The sensation of restraints on his body quickly told him what happened.
“So… even Hakuba lost…”
Hakuba—that was the name of his alter ego. An opponent that even his alter ego could not defeat means they encountered someone far out of their league.
The environment here wasn’t bad, not luxurious but tidy, similar to a cargo hold.
It may not be comfortable, but at least it’s better than the treatment some people received during the triangular trade era. After all, Jack wants to recruit him, not torture him to death.
However, for someone like Cavendish, this environment was still intolerable.
“These savage brutes… treating captives like this…”
Cavendish is quite particular about appearances; if it’s an enemy he acknowledges, they would receive appropriate treatment, but this place isn’t even as good as the stable on his ship.
“Did these guys say what they’re planning to do?”
Glancing around, Cavendish noticed that none of his crew members were missing, and even his horse was here. This left him thoroughly perplexed.
“No, they haven’t said anything.”
“Weirdo… stop standing there dumbfounded, think of a way to get these locks open! They didn’t even leave anyone to watch over us. These brutes are really careless.”
“Captain, actually, there is someone watching over us.”
One of his handcuffed crew members pointed outside, where Alcremie was sitting with a picture book in hand. Influenced by the times and environment, such picture books were often treated as comics, and the cover featured the current hit series, Monkey Ball.
“Idiot! Such an adorable creature could never associate with those savage brutes. It must have been coerced or deceived!”
Upon seeing Alcremie’s appearance, Cavendish came to his own conclusion.
As someone who loved fame and had a deep appreciation for beauty, Cavendish automatically categorized the small and adorable Alcremie into a separate league. There was simply no way such an adorable little creature could be connected to the burly Jack.
“Hey, little guy! Over here, over here! How about you help me unlock these chains, and I’ll take you with me to escape from here?”
Cavendish didn’t know anything about Pokémon or what kind of creature Alcremie was, but since it could sit there reading a picture book, it surely had the intelligence to understand human speech.
In this vast sea, there are many animals with intelligence comparable to humans, but most of them cannot speak human language. To ensure that Alcremie could understand him, he even attempted to use body language to convey his meaning.
However, being tied up like a rice dumpling, his movements were extremely limited.
The chains clinked loudly as he moved, successfully drawing Alcremie’s attention. However, Alcremie simply stared at him with a look that could only be described as watching an idiot.
Blinking his eyes, Cavendish found this scene hard to believe, thinking that Alcremie simply hadn’t understood him, so he continued to babble on.
Eventually, he managed to wear out Alcremie’s patience. It pulled out a whistle, took a deep breath, and blew it.
The piercing sound of the whistle immediately summoned Jack over.
