APJ Chapter 811 Tradition of the Beasts Pirates, Gathering of the Sons of God

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

These things were happening not just on Jack or Yamato’s side; this kind of behavior is common in the Beasts Pirates.

What do you do if you’re unfamiliar with your Vice-Captain’s strength? Fight them.

What do you do if you’re unfamiliar with your subordinates’ strength? Fight them.

What do you do if you’re unclear about the strength of a team? Still, fight them.

As long as it involves combat, the Beasts Pirates’ solution is usually to fight it out.

Besides Yamato and Jack, even Maria, who spends most of her time in Wano Country, tested her subordinates’ strength this way.

Jack fought the most frequently, and his crew had the highest battle frequency, but his subordinates were the slowest to accumulate achievements.

As in ordinary team battles, there would usually be a phase of probing and testing, but not for Jack. Once his ship approached, he would often charge in alone. His Copperajah’s steel-like body made him unstoppable—most people couldn’t even slow him down.

On the sea, opponents of similar strength couldn’t do much against him. As long as Jack caught someone, he would drag them underwater, pulling them straight to the bottom.

People here had extraordinary constitutions, but underwater, they still couldn’t breathe. They could hold out for five or ten minutes, but Jack could stay for days.

Meeting Jack at sea, if you weren’t agile enough or have strength that could suppress him, you were out of luck.

So, Ginrummy and Sheepshead accumulated achievements even slower. However, they did eventually obtain the Ordinary Elephant-Elephant Fruit and Ancient Zoan Elephant-Elephant Fruit from Jack.

Afterward, Jack would drag them out to spar, saying it was to familiarize them with their transformations—and to teach them how elephants fight.

And when Jack politely asked them if there was anything else they didn’t understand, Sheepshead raised this question.

“Aren’t the Beasts Pirates always like this?”

Hearing Sheepshead’s question, Jack was somewhat puzzled. In his eyes, battles between officers and subordinates were routine. That was how he grew up.

And it wasn’t just him—Yamato, Maria, Ulti, Page One, and even Isuka had grown up the same way.

This was Jack’s ingrained perception. If you traced the origins, it would lead back to Kaido. If you went further back, not just the younger generation, but even King and Shayna had gone through this. Queen, in particular, deeply understood this.

It was the one tradition in the Beasts Pirates that hadn’t faded with time; it remained unchanged to this day.

Yamato genuinely wanted to use this method to understand her subordinates’ strength, without considering other aspects. Jack, on the other hand, thought it was a simple and effective method. Meanwhile, some officers just wanted the newcomers to experience what they had gone through.

Since you do not have the ability to resist, then let’s suffer the hardships together.

The three Elephant Human began their fight, but it was quite amusing to watch. Due to Jack’s massive size, after transforming, he was as large as a Giant, but Ginrummy and Sheepshead’s physique remained that of a normal human.

Even though the Elephant-Elephant Fruit had increased their size, they still couldn’t compare to Jack. And since this was a training session led by Jack, it felt oddly like a big elephant teaching two little elephants.

Once the Divine Blessing Ritual ended, most people returned to their posts. Some stayed to listen to Misu’s preaching, and there were even some newcomers listening to Misu speak, such as Kozuki Hiyori.

Misu never refused such opportunities. As long as someone was willing to listen to her preaching, she had the patience to repeat the same doctrines over and over.

She was the one who took the lead in compiling the doctrines and, after years of preaching, could almost recite the thick book of doctrines by heart.

“Sister, you say the Lord remembers everyone who works hard. But what about you?”

“The Lord certainly doesn’t forget. My new life was granted by the Lord, and if you’re asking about my ability, how do you know I don’t have it?”

As Misu spoke, she extended her arm, directly addressing their doubts.

Meanwhile, Queen had already slipped away. He didn’t want to catch Kaido’s attention—at times like this, Kaido could easily get carried away and might drag him into a sparring session. Shaymin, however, stayed and attended a Pokémon gathering.

“Hello! I’m Shaymin! You are also one of Lord’s creations, right?”

Shaymin hopped onto Nereus’s shoulder. Due to her unique aura, Nereus didn’t stop her. Besides, Shaymin was tiny and didn’t take up much space. Moreover, Wolff and Meowna were also perched on her shoulders, curious about this big aunty.

“Yes,” Nereus replied.

“The outside world must be really fun! You must have seen lots of interesting things, right?”

“Fun? There’s not much fun in the sea. The amusement park owned by the Mandrell family was pretty enjoyable, though.”

Nereus spent most of her time in the deep sea, a place that had little to do with fun. Except near Fishman Island, it was almost entirely dark.

“Really? Then you must’ve been bored. That sounds so boring!”

“Shaymin, don’t talk like that,” Diancie interrupted, feeling Shaymin’s words were a bit inappropriate.

“Oh, I didn’t mean it that way! I was just curious…” Shaymin waved her little forelimbs in an attempt to explain but accidentally fell. Diancie quickly formed a diamond platform to catch her mid-air.

“Don’t be so clumsy, Shaymin. Be more graceful.”

“Graceful? That’s not my thing. Being free is so much better, right?”

“I think you’ve been corrupted by Queen.”

“No way! But I might’ve gained some weight… The food he has is just too good.

I’ll be heading out with him soon, so I wanted to ask what it’s like outside.”

Unlike Diancie, who pays attention to etiquettes, Shaymin was quite carefree, standing out among this group of humanoid Pokémon.

As Diancie tried to correct her “younger sister’s” etiquettes, Meowna and Wolff were chatting with Nereus.

“Um… is this really the correct way to teach subordinates?”

Nereus glanced at Jack and Yamato’s fight nearby and couldn’t help but ask. This method seemed a bit primitive. She had initially thought about changing it, but now it appeared to be the norm here.

“You might not want to imitate that. It’s more of a unique tradition here.”

“Dad’s right, Aunt Nereus. Didn’t you encounter anything interesting in the sea outside?”

Zeraora talked Nereus out of this idea, indirectly saving the lives of a few Gyarados. Soon, though, the topic shifted back to the topic of “fun.”

“Fun… If I have to say, I encountered someone outside who played with fire. He was pretty interesting, at least naively so.”

“Outside?”

Zeraora felt something was off when he heard that.

“Yes. Following the Lord’s instructions, I sank their ship. By now, it should’ve drifted far away.”V
