APJ Chapter 798 Inheriting Beasts Pirates’ Tradition! The True God of Microbiology

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Sabaody Archipelago is the only way for pirate crews heading to the New World. Even lawful groups seeking to cross the Red Line must first stop here, as the World Government’s office is also located here.

At the crossroads of seven sea routes, this place should, in theory, be bustling—and it is. The economy is highly developed, drawing countless tourists each year.

Yet, a place like this also has slums. As darkness beneath prosperity, everything here seems out of place, but it perfectly fits the characteristics of Sabaody Archipelago.

World Government offices, Marine base, lawless areas, human trafficking auctions—it’s hard to believe all these entities coexist on the same island. Sometimes, only a wall separates two entirely different worlds.

Their reason for venturing into the slums was simple: recruiting manpower and expanding the followers.

Compared to those living in affluence, people in the slums are more prone to seeking hope. Though they may be more wary of the world after enduring despair, once they find faith, their loyalty is unmatched.

“Move everything over here! Hurry up!”

The Beasts Pirates have become a diverse group. Under Arceus’ rules, joining the crew had become much harder. Those who can accept the crew’s rules are then assigned to different units based on their personality.

Once someone is promoted to single-digit rank officer, they gain the privilege of choosing their subordinates and forming their own personal fleet, and these are the people Isuka selected.

The officers all have their own preferences: Jack values strength above all, Mandrell considers family circumstances and prefers recruiting those with families, Delia chooses purely on first impressions, and Isuka prioritizes moral boundaries.

The pirates under Isuka were the most disciplined and comparatively the kindest—almost more like adventurers than typical pirates.

Right now, they resemble a relief organization, bringing supplies to the slums. But the first thing they did after coming here? A fight.

Even the slums were rife with oppression. Local thugs use their fists to intimidate weaker individuals, exploiting them for personal gain and living comfortably within this downtrodden society.

“Get lost! Don’t block the road!”

“What are you doing? Does beating up an old man make you feel accomplished? Why don’t you try me instead?”

But their kindness is relative. No one who sails these seas is incapable of fighting. Within moments, they drove off the thugs who had ruled over this part of the slum.

These thugs, who preyed on the weak, simply chose to run away when faced with a stronger opponent, running to seek help from their backers. To establish themselves on the Sabaody Archipelago, they either needed to have overwhelming strength or be able to form connections with people of higher status.

Of course, under the banner of the Beasts Pirates, Isuka and her crew had no fear of retaliation.

“Lami, I’ll leave the organizing to you. You’re better at this than me.”

“Got it, leave it to me.”

Now 18 years old, Lami has grown into a young woman. Aside from her hair color, her features bore an uncanny resemblance to a feminine version of Law. As a member of the Arceus Cult, her mission was to spread their religion, while Isuka focused on recruiting children of suitable age.

This was a long-standing practice of the Beasts Pirates. Their early core members hailed from all over the world, but in recent years, most of their lower-ranking officers had been orphans raised and trained within the crew. They might not be the strongest, but made up for it with loyalty and trustworthiness.

Previously, this task had been handled by Olga, who didn’t mind doing it occasionally but she disliked making dedicated trips. So, she passed the responsibility to Isuka, whose fondness for children made her a perfect fit.

……

“Grandpa, can I take a look at your leg? That wound looks pretty serious.”

Lami approached the old man who had been beaten earlier, but he did not relax. Instead, he continued to eye her warily—a natural response given the complex dynamics of the slums.

Stranded shipwrecked survivors, escapees from slavery who managed to flee but remain trapped, or travelers who lost loved ones to the Celestial Dragons or pirates—these are the types of people who eventually end up staying in this place.

For many, their hearts have long been closed off. Even when given food or medicine, they wouldn’t easily trust others.

Because it’s a slum, no one cares about their life or death. Slave traders often frequent this place as well.

“Look, I’m just an ordinary girl who wants to help with your wound,” Saying that, Lami opened the small medical kit she was carrying, revealing surgical tools and gauze—but strangely, there were no medicines at all.

The old man, perhaps relaxing his guard due to her appearance, slowly lifted his tattered clothes, revealing a pus-filled wound beneath.

“A doctor looked at it a few days ago,” he muttered. “Said the only way to save my life was to amputate…”

Occasionally, kind-hearted people passed through here, but he refused the amputation. In this place, losing a leg was as good as a death sentence.

“Don’t worry, Grandpa. I can handle this,” Lami said, then she placed her hand over the wound, and a colorful, toxic sludge began to envelop it.

Lami was the Ability User of Alolan Muk, but her powers extended beyond poison. The Alolan Muk’s body is a host to countless viruses and bacteria, which can combine to form deadly toxins. However, these same viruses and bacteria can also kill other viruses and bacteria.

Through rigorous training and studying external knowledge, Lami had gradually learned to control the various microorganisms within her body.

Moreover, her ability was still evolving, and even Queen had yet to fully unravel the potential combinations of microorganisms inside an Alolan Muk.

Where she once used her ability to clean the monastery, she now cleansed harmful substances from the bodies of the wounded.

In the realm of microorganisms, she was their “god.”

All this was based on her understanding of medicine. Misu had taught her many things, but medicine fascinated her the most. She herself didn’t understand why, but she felt a sense of familiarity when studying medicine-related knowledge.

Under her control, the microorganisms within Muk’s body have become special nano-robots, combining to eradicate harmful bacteria. This was why she never carried medicines; she can manufacture the specific medicine she needs according to the situation.

Within minutes, she achieved her goal. Afterward, she used her ability to anesthetize the wound, removed the rotting flesh, and then again sewed the wound closed.

“It’s all set now. Just rest for a few days, and you’ll be fine. Don’t touch this gauze—I’ve treated it specially, so it won’t let the wound get infected.”

“Th-thank you…”

“No need to thank me. It’s the will of the Lord. His glory is spreading. Have faith in Him, and you can escape the pain and suffering.”

As a novice nun, Lami had just conducted her first missionary work. Judging from the gleam in the old man’s eyes, it seemed to have been quite successful.

Using the old man as her local connection, Lami began spreading the teachings of the Arceus Cult, healing others’ wounds while drawing more people to listen to her doctrines.

Isuka, on the other hand, sought out naive children, offering them food to win their trust. Some adults, upon seeing this, even “sold” their children to her.

And this entire scene was witnessed by Ace and Deuce as they were passing through the area.

“Deuce, is that… a human trafficker?”
