APJ Chapter 753 The Beginning of the Four Emperors Era

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Whether it’s the Emperor of the Sea or the Shichibukai, they are all pirates. The only difference is their strength.

And among the pirates, betrayal is commonplace. Even those who joined the Emperors of the Sea as subordinate forces have different goals in mind. When the opportunity is right, they will not hesitate to rebel.

Of course, ever since the Great Pirate Era began, with the Emperors ruling the seas, no pirate rebellion has ever succeeded. Charlotte Linlin, Edward Newgate, and Kaido have shown others the bloody consequences of betrayal.

Betrayal is common, but you must be able to bear the consequences.

There was no doubt about the outcome of the battle. The stronger someone is, the more they understand the gap between themselves and Kaido, and the more they slack off. So, after just one fight, Kaido returned to Onigashima with a large group of people, where a grand banquet had already been prepared.

When pirates are unhappy, they throw a banquet to cheer themselves up. When they’re happy, they throw a banquet to celebrate. After a victory, they have a banquet to celebrate the win, and after a defeat, they have one to boost morale. That’s the pirate way.

Any reason, or no reason at all—simply because they feel like it—they throw a grand banquet.

Whether newcomers arriving, or a large number of low-ranking officers gathering together, there’s no need for any other reason.

“Cheers!”

The grand banquet on Onigashima had begun. Queen seized another chance to show off, dancing with his underlings, while other pirates gathered in small groups according to their usual cliques.

“Boss Jack, congratulations! You’re getting closer and closer to the position of Calamity.”

“Yeah! Once you take down those two and gain Boss Kaido’s approval, you’ll be the new Calamity.”

Standing beside him, Ginrummy and Sheepshead flattered Jack.

Becoming Kaido’s right-hand man had always been Jack’s goal, and in his eyes, becoming a senior officer, or Calamity, would fulfill it.

To become a Calamity wasn’t especially complicated. You either replaced an existing Calamity or had Kaido recognize your strength and create a new Calamity position. But none of these were easy—both required strength.

“Hmm, you two better train harder. If you’re this weak, how can you be my subordinate? These two Devil Fruits will be yours. Don’t waste the power of elephants.”

Even though they were sucking up to him, Jack didn’t seem particularly happy. He casually handed them a regular Elephant and the Ancient Zoan Mammoth Devil Fruit.

That was enough for them, but the next moment, Jack showed them what rapid change in expression looked like. His previously cold expression turned gentle as his Alcremie came bouncing over.

Following behind it were Meowna, Wolff, and Mandrell, who was with his wife and daughter.

“Brother Mandrell, congratulations on having a daughter.”

Letting his arms drop, Jack allowed Alcremie to climb onto his shoulder. After finishing his drink, he nodded to Mandrell.

Rusalka and Setsuna had originally been discussing parenting tips, but as the conversation went on, Setsuna realized there wasn’t much to talk about. The situations with Meowna and Wolff likely wouldn’t apply to a half-Merfolk child, so there wasn’t much reference material.

“Hmm, we’ll head over there first. If you’re interested, you can join us later. It’s that new inn Kojiro just opened.”

“Alright, got it.”

People have different habits. Mandrell used to enjoy lively gatherings, but this time, he wanted a quieter place since he brought his daughter along.

Technically speaking, that area was more of a private sub-venue, where only officers were allowed.

As for the cost, Delia was treating, but who she borrowed the money from was anyone’s guess.

According to usual customs, guests don’t bring other guests, but Jack was different. Delia’s intention was to invite all the old acquaintances over.

After the initial celebration, the officers left one after another, leaving the area to the regular subordinates. You could also spot many Pokémon among them. At this moment, a drunk man was being toyed with by a Whimsicott, spinning around in circles, completely unaware of where he was.

Outside Onigashima, they also saw several Steel-type Pokémon, like Tinkaton and Bisharp, who were eyeing each other, their thoughts unclear.

This was the Steel-type Pokémon’s sub-venue. Due to issues with the steel, they weren’t usually allowed into Onigashima unless under special circumstances, so they gathered outside instead.

When Mandrell and the others arrived at the agreed location, what they saw was Yamato and Ulti having a drinking competition, with Page One being forcibly dragged along by Ulti.

“You guys finally made it! Not drunk yet, right? Drinks are on me today, have as much as you like!”

She picked up a unique bottle and started drinking with the people around her. This was her special supply. You might say she’s frugal, but despite being in debt, she insisted on treating others. You might say she’s wasteful, but even now, she didn’t forget to use her welfare card to slightly reduce some of her debt this way.

Current top 10 Numbers and former top 10 Numbers were almost all here, representing the diverse personalities within the Beasts Pirates.

There was the diligent and hardworking model worker and representative of the corporate drones, the Duchess of Zou Island who didn’t really want the position, the quiet, old fisherman, the short-tempered iron-headed girl, and the idealistic warrior of justice.

The ever-indebted yet carefree big sister, the cyborg who was reminiscing the single-digit ranking he had lost, and the former agent trying hard to blend in.

They have different goals, but they have all gathered under the same pirate flag. Even if there were occasional minor conflicts between them, they worked together toward a common goal.

“By the way, where’s Sasaki? Didn’t he come?”

This gathering was basically a team-building event for the officers, so Sasaki’s absence felt strange to Mandrell. If there wasn’t any major conflict, he should’ve at least shown up out of courtesy.

“Oh, he came, but he went back to Udon to get more drinks. He said he brewed a lot of good stuff recently and wanted to share it with us. He also plans to share something with Aggron at the mine, so he got delayed.”

Each Pokémon has its own unique personality, and everyone has a few Pokémon they’re close to. Some might even have strange quirks. For example, Delia often asks if any Pokémon know the move Pay Day, hoping to earn some extra money.

After the banquet, many of the officers began returning to their respective territories. Time silently passed. Since the ranking battle had taken place at the end of the year, when the senior officers of the Beasts Pirates returned, the year had already turned to 1516.

During this time, a major event occurred on the seas—Red-Haired Shanks finally solidified his title as Emperor of the Sea.

Another unstoppable monster has emerged in the New World. The era of the Four Emperors—Red-Haired Shanks, the Beasts Pirates, Big Mom, and Whitebeard—has arrived.
