“Minatomo, you guys shouldn’t be so greedy. Why do you think you can monopolize everything?”
“We never intended to monopolize it. It was just something a few youngsters spoke in a fit of rage. It was you guys who started the fight first! Urashima, you guys are the ones who went too far!”
Minatomo was a very short old man, but he was Wano Country’s most skilled carpenter and the leader of the entire industry. Wano Country was a closed-off place, so people here valued status and seniority highly.
Offending Minatomo meant that unless you had overwhelming strength, ordinary people would find it impossible to get anyone to help them build a house.
Urashima, on the other hand, was a huge man, the yokozuna of Wano Country. Yokozuna is the highest title a sumo wrestler can achieve, a lifetime honorary title of sorts. Urashima was the strongest among the few yokozunas of Wano and the leader of the sumo wrestlers.
With Urashima’s strength, Minatomo was no match for him. However, despite the harsh tone, the two of them sat obediently on one side of the table as on the other side sat Hyogoro, his face solemn. He was there to mediate the conflict between them.
If he steps in, it’s just a small-scale scuffle among civilians. But if it escalates to the Beasts Pirates getting involved, then it would become a matter of breaking the law. Although the Beasts Pirates are seen as a group of lawless lunatics in the eyes of the World Government, within their own territory, they have their own set of laws.
Hyogoro had been enjoying a peaceful retirement. His former gang members had found legitimate jobs, and life was much better than it used to be. Wano Country was now a peaceful place, and Hyogoro didn’t want to see that peace disturbed.
Given his knowledge of the true events of that year, Hyogoro often wondered if this was truly the best future.
“You guys should stop it. If you keep stirring up trouble, it won’t benefit anyone. Do you want to be sent to Udon for reeducation? And don’t forget how the Pokémon came to be. You don’t have the right to decide their status.”
“Respect their choices. It doesn’t matter if you fight amongst yourselves, but if you get the Machokes involved in your fight, Lord won’t be happy.”
Hyogoro earnestly advised them. Hotei had asked Kojiro to look for Hyogoro to mediate in the matter, hoping to prevent the situation from escalating further. Otherwise, there would be no other choice but to report the matter to the higher-ups.
“But…”
In an industry, they band together for mutual support. Each of them is a leader in their respective field, so they need a way to save their reputation.
“I’ll step in as your guarantor. That should be fine, right? Besides, you’re not children anymore. In the future, you may find Pokémon more suitable for your industries. What’s the point of fighting tooth and nail now? Aren’t there people who don’t even have one but are living just fine?”
“Boss Hyogoro, we’ll definitely respect your wishes. Let’s settle it this way then.”
They understood the consequences Hyogoro laid out, and this resolution was the best outcome. Hyogoro has great prestige among the people of Wano Country, so there shouldn’t be any further issues.
Just at that moment, the room behind Hyogoro suddenly blew open, and a huge amount of cotton came spilling out.
A Whimsicott lay on top of the pile of cotton, giggling.
This cotton was its doing. It was Whimsicott’s signature prank. But Hyogoro wasn’t surprised at all. Instead, he smiled and extended his hand toward Whimsicott.
“You see? These Pokémon respond to people’s intentions. Whether they prefer working out, sumo wrestling, or moving heavy objects, you should respect them a bit more.”
Out of love for his wife, who adores these playful Whimsicott, Hyogoro has also developed a fondness for them. Now, during her free time, his wife often makes dolls.
And the material for the dolls came from the cotton produced by these Whimsicotts. It could be said to be their family’s new daily routine.
……………
“That’s the situation, Lord Sacred Beast. Hyogoro has managed to resolve the trouble, and it seems to have worked out pretty well. But, Lord Sacred Beast, are you really not going to do anything about those Machokes?”
“With different personalities—conflicts within the same species are normal. It’s just minor squabbles, nothing worth interfering with. Besides, this is also how they get stronger.”
In Onigashima, Shayna was reporting on the situation. When it came to Wano Country, the Beasts Pirates were well-informed about everything. A large-scale fight like this was a significant event—impossible for them not to notice.
Shayna’s inquiry about the Machokes referred to the battles that had erupted among some of them due to differences in personality and preferences. This type of fighting was quite rare among other Pokémon.
However, for Fighting-type Pokémon, this was part of their daily routine. They rarely stayed idle, and this is one of the important ways they train, so it’s not a big deal.
“Is there anything else?”
“Nothing major. Ever since Mr. Kaido caused that huge commotion, even the territories outside have become much more stable for now.”
“However, the new Fishman Island has faced some significant disturbances. According to Mandrell’s report, Trapinches have been engaged in frequent battles lately.”
Even though the Marines tried to downplay the attack, it couldn’t change the fact that Kaido had taken the initiative to assault a Marine base, which is quite rare on the seas.
This kind of crazy behavior even left other pirates dumbfounded, and it had temporarily intimidated some of the troublemakers, bringing a period of peace to the Beasts Pirates’ territories.
“Everything else is just minor stuff, Lord Sacred Beast. Should we prepare for the next voyage?”
“Sure…”
“Dad! I’m heading out first! I’ll be back in a while!”
Just as Arceus finished speaking, Yamato’s head popped out from outside the door. After saying this, she grabbed her cloud bag and dashed off without even pausing for a moment.
Right now, she had the freedom to come and go as she pleased. The reason for her sudden rush wasn’t anything else—it was for “survival.”
Based on her understanding of Kaido’s personality and calculating Hydrachton’s speed, Kaido would likely return to Wano Country in the next two days.
From the newspapers, she knew that Kaido definitely hadn’t enjoyed his fight to the fullest. Just a few hours simply wasn’t enough to satisfy him.
Since there had been no further reports of Kaido fighting elsewhere, it meant that when he returned, he’d likely be filled with pent-up battle intent.
A Kaido brimming with battle intent wasn’t good news for her. Based on past experiences, the chances of her being dragged into a fight exceeded 90%, so she decided to go out and lay low and wait for Kaido to calm down before returning.
Given that it involved Kaido, she’d already activated her passive of max intelligence, packed her belongings, and left Wano Country with her subordinates. This time, she had ample logistics supplies as she didn’t want to go through another painful, poverty-stricken voyage like before.
Yamato’s sudden escape took Arceus by surprise; it seemed she had gotten smarter. Meanwhile, Arceus himself went to look for the Machoke that enjoyed sumo wrestling the most. He was planning to create something special to keep Kaido occupied for a while.
