Kaido’s rain was a signal—it was his way of conveying orders to Hydrachton. It wasn’t just a mount; in Kaido’s eyes, it was a special “companion” strong enough to fight alongside him.
With his strength, there is no need for Hydrachton to assist him in direct combat, instead it mainly served as transportation, clearing out low-level enemies, and as Weather Setter.
Depending on the Pokémon’s strength, the range of the rain clouds created by Rain Dance varies. By rushing into the distant clouds, Hydrachton aims to create larger rain clouds in a short amount of time. Furthermore, it can infuse the clouds with power of thunder and lightning, transforming them into thunderclouds.
This wasn’t simple natural lightning but artificial lightning created by the power of a Pokémon. Kaido also has a part of Pokémon power within him. The activation of moves like Dragon Dance and Protect relied on this power.
This unique strength came from the subtle changes in Kaido’s body after learning moves in the dimension created by Arceus. With this power, Kaido could manipulate the lightning in this thundercloud to achieve certain special effects.
Hydrachton didn’t know what Kaido was planning—it just followed his earlier commands to release certain moves. The rest was Kaido’s own mental calculations.
God of Lightning Tenjin was originally Charlotte Linlin’s technique. She could manipulate Zeus the Thundercloud to unleash indiscriminate lightning strikes around her.
The lightning she released even had a will of its own, able to change direction and pursue targets trying to escape.
The lightning was so incredibly fast that it was nearly impossible to dodge the terrifying AOE attack.
As the big sister on their ship, Charlotte Linlin had a profound impact on Kaido. Her influence extended to Devil Fruits, Giants’ techniques, and much more. Kaido had learned many things from her, and now he planned to replicate some of her techniques.
In his Dragon Form, Kaido could also use lightning, but it wasn’t as wide-reaching as Zeus. Now, with Hydrachton’s assistance, he could also fight alongside his battle pet just like Charlotte Linlin.
In fact, the very idea of combining forces with Hydrachton came from Charlotte Linlin’s concept of using Homies—powerful helpers created from her own soul.
“Why don’t you rate this technique, Marine Hero!”
Gripping Hassaikai with both hands, Kaido swung down with all his might. It seemed as though he was pulling down the sky itself. A terrifying curtain of lightning formed as countless bolts merged into one, crashing down with unstoppable force.
“Damn it…”
Rain hammered down on Garp, his clothes drenched from the downpour. The rising black clouds had already blotted out the sun, but the G-1 Base remained as bright as day, with the glow of the lightning becoming the new sun.
God of Lightning Tenjin was a move Garp was no stranger to. Back then, Kaido hadn’t yet grown strong, and Charlotte Linlin was the main force of the Rocks Pirates. Her lightning had always been a major nuisance on the battlefield.
Although Zeus was a Homie created by Charlotte Linlin, its true form was a cloud. Under her command, it could move freely through the battlefield, executing devastating pinpoint strikes.
Now, the God of Lightning Tenjin Kaido used far surpassed what he remembered being used by Charlotte Linlin.
Moreover, Kaido was different from Charlotte Linlin. He didn’t just unleash an attack. As the lightning descended, Kaido was already in front of Garp. Bathed in the lightning’s glow, it looked as if he was wearing an armor of lightning.
“Conquerer of Three Worlds Ragnaraku • Thunder Bolt!”
The sky was filled with thunderbolts, dancing wildly like silver serpents. Under the guidance of Kaido’s weapon, this cataclysmic power was compressed together.
Garp’s stance remained unchanged, but in an instant, his clothes were shredded. Despite his age, every muscle was sharp and well-defined. Now, under the influence of Haki, Garp had turned into a dark, shadowy figure.
No matter what tactics his opponent used, Garp’s approach never wavered. If one punch wasn’t enough, he’d throw a second. As long as his fists were strong enough, he believed they could break through any defense.
As the club collided with fists, the power of lightning and Haki exploded. The compressed lightning completely detonated, and after a deafening thunderclap, the battlefield seemed to fall into a new silence.
…
Inside the G-1 Marine Base, a soldier crouched in the corner, his hands covering his ears. Though the walls were durable enough to withstand cannon fire, they provided him no sense of security.
For a long time, he had no idea what was happening outside. It wasn’t until a colleague beside him patted his shoulder that he became aware. Yet, he couldn’t hear any sound, only seeing his colleague’s mouth moving.
“Speak! I can’t hear you!”
Yet no sound reached him. It was only when he followed his comrade’s gestures that he saw his hands were covered in blood, which had been flowing from his ears.
This wasn’t an isolated incident. Even though they were far from the battlefield, many Marines had lost their hearing and sight from the clash just now.
Kaido and Whitebeard both didn’t want to start a full-scale battle on their own territories, precisely because they knew what kind of consequences the aftermath would bring.
Once the situation outside had calmed down, a few soldiers cautiously checked the surroundings. The once-durable walls of the G-1 Base had collapsed, and even a section of the island’s land had mysteriously disappeared.
At this moment, around Kaido and Garp was a bottomless pit, with bricks occasionally falling from the edges. However, those outside couldn’t hear the sound of the impacts at the bottom.
“What powerful Haki, to actually withstand all the attacks head-on.”
Kaido’s strike hadn’t solely targeted Garp. The residual lightning was enough to affect the nearby Marines, but before it could fully erupt, Garp had forcefully suppressed Kaido’s lightning, using his body and the ground beneath his feet to absorb the blow.
That strike focused more on range, and its single-target firepower wasn’t actually that strong. However, Garp took the full force of the attack, protecting most of the Marine soldiers.
“You crazy b*stard, that lightning must’ve hit you too, didn’t it?”
Such an attack couldn’t incapacitate Garp; he even noticed that Kaido wasn’t able to avoid the effects of the lightning either, meaning the move had significant drawbacks.
“Worororo, just a minor tickle. It’ll pass soon.”
“If I let someone like you leave, the seas will only become more chaotic…”
Under the effects of Seimei Kikan, Garp’s body began to rapidly heal. His skin quickly regenerated, causing the effects of the lightning to fade away. Looking at the destroyed base and the ruined land around him, Garp became determined to keep Kaido from leaving.
“This is a Marine base! It’s not a place where you can just come and go as you please! Galaxy Impact!”
