Hydreigon, Wano Country’s Regional Form
Due to its origin from the Yamata no Orochi Fruit, Hydreigon has evolved from its original three heads into eight. However, this transformation didn’t bring any significant changes.
In its original form, although Hydreigon had three heads, only the middle head was a true head with a brain, while the heads on its arms were without a brain.
Additionally, Hydreigon also has no legs, and the blue, elongated structures on either side of its tail are not legs but underdeveloped tails, similar to the heads on its arms.
This is also the reason why Hydreigon usually doesn’t land on the ground, always choosing to hover at low altitude.
Now that it has become Hydrachton, the surrounding heads without brains have increased to seven. There are also seven smaller tails next to its thick main tail, making it resemble Yamata no Orochi in appearance. [TN: Hydreigon(Three-headed Dragon) is a combination of hydra, drei (German for three), and dragon. So, I’ve named it Hydrachton(Eight-headed Dragon), which is a combination of hydra, acht (German for eight), and dragon.]
Even the color has changed to the greenish hue inherited from the Yamata no Orochi’s Devil Fruit, matching the Shiny Form of Hydreigon.
Of course, these seven additional heads are still without brains and are controlled by the will of the central head. Besides that, they can perform all normal functions, such as roaring and eating.
At this moment, Hydrachton hovered in the sky above Onigashima. Its unique wings, containing a strange Dragon-Type energy, enabled it to maintain its flight. Moreover, unlike Tyranitar and Emboar, Hydrachton exuded an aura of sheer terror.
Some of the Wano Country workers lower down on Onigashima saw the newly born behemoth above and were once again faced with a symbol of fear. Its appearance was very similar to Yamata no Orochi, a monster from legend known for bringing disaster.
However, this fear soon transformed because the monster did not destroy anything but instead showed signs of submission. The fact that even a yokai symbolizing destruction chose to submit changed many people’s perspectives.
Not long after, they discovered that the Wise King of Wano Country was riding on the back of the monster.
……………
“Worororo, this one’s quite impressive. From now on, you’ll follow me.”
He liked its violent aura and was also intrigued by Hydrachton’s fighting spirit. Moreover, such a fierce, flying beast perfectly matched his own temperament.
Although Kaido appeared carefree, he actually cared a lot about making a grand entrance. When showing up in front of rookies, he always chose a way that was extremely intimidating, like jumping down from Sky Island and creating a huge crater upon impact.
However, during the descent, even a slight breeze could cause him to miss his mark, requiring him to adjust his position mid-air using his ability.
A suitable mount could greatly enhance his entrance, and Hydrachton’s appearance perfectly met Kaido’s expectations.
Even though Hydrachton originated from the Yamata no Orochi, it was still a Pokémon which had been modified based on Hydreigon, ultimately making it a dragon-type. And dragons, in myths and legends, whether they are benevolent divine dragons or villainous evil dragons, are always at the pinnacle of fantasy creatures.
“You can do as you fit, but turning it into a mount is not something you can do with just a few words.”
Arceus’ main goal was to try a new experiment. Judging by the current situation, bringing a Zoan-type fruit to life is not difficult, and the effects are quite good. Arceus doesn’t have any objections to the new position Kaido wants to assign to it.
“I know, but I like its temperament.”
At this moment, Hydrachton’s heads were eyeing Kaido menacingly, seemingly ready to bite at the slightest provocation. This was simply its nature—extremely violent.
In the Pokémon world, Hydreigon is recorded as a terrifying and extremely violent Pokémon. Trainers capable of taming one are exceedingly rare, as Hydreigon sees everything as a target to attack.
It didn’t choose to attack right now only because Arceus was still in front of it. Although its mind was filled with destructive thoughts, Hydreigon is a highly intelligent Pokémon, capable of recognizing who its true master is.
In this regard, it’s quite similar to Kaido. He’s also highly intelligent but often too lazy to use his wits. In a way, their compatibility is indeed quite high.
Moreover, this Hydrachton isn’t as violent as Hydreigon. It’s just more aggressive and solitary compared to other Pokémon.
In the Pokémon world, the personality of Hydreigons have been gradually shaped over time. Because of its ferocious appearance, Hydreigon was once regarded as an evil incarnate, constantly facing hatred and attacks from people, which is why its temperament became so brutal.
Moreover, before it evolves, in its initial form as Deino, it lacks vision. Unable to see anything, it perceives the world by biting everything, a process that often leads to damaging other things.
For Deino, everything in the world falls into two categories: edible and non-edible. This caused other Pokémon to dislike them, ultimately leading to this situation.
“I really like you. From now on, you’ll be my mount.”
Unfazed by Hydrachton’s sharp teeth, Kaido reached out and grabbed it, prompting Hydrachton to bite down on him.
“Impressive strength. You’ll make a fine mount,” Kaido remarked, the grin across his face spreading wider as he sensed the force which passed through his skin.
“You’ve heard what your creator said. If you’ve got any objections, now’s the time to express them.”
“Roar!”
Hydrachton had heard Arceus’ words and understood that Arceus was implying that this man could become its master, but it wasn’t ready to submit so easily. Aside from Arceus, anyone else trying to tame it would have a difficult time.
Even though Kaido didn’t understand the language, he could sense the meaning behind Hydrachton’s roar.
Thus began the most primitive Pokémon taming battle. Given Hydrachton’s personality, it was difficult to tame it simply through emotions; you need sufficient strength for that. And, Kaido happens to fit this character perfectly as he engaged in a fierce, physical battle with Hydrachton.
High above Onigashima, the scene of Kaido battling a fierce dragon unfolded. Hydrachton’s eight heads unleashed different elemental attacks—sharp rock spikes, scorching flames, and rumbling thunderbolts—all aimed at Kaido’s body.
But this only piqued Kaido’s interest towards it even more.
To demonstrate his skills as its master, Kaido stood firm like a pillar, enduring every bite and breath attack with his body.
Finally, using a rear-naked choke, he managed to subdue Hydrachton, asserting himself as its master through sheer strength.
The Wano Country workers who were lucky enough to witness the battle between Kaido and Hydrachton from a distance later recounted the event when they returned home. As a result, this led to the creation of a new stage play in Wano Country.
The play was based on the identities of Kaido and Yamata no Orochi, evolving into a story about the Wise King protecting the country.
