APJ Chapter 703 Insights and the reappearance of Yamata no Orochi

“Oni Princess, I don’t think they were kind-hearted…”

“Huh? But they’re the first ones in days to willingly offer us supplies. And aren’t they from the Big Mom Pirates? I remember our relationship with them is pretty decent.”

“Yeah, which is exactly why they did it…”

Speed didn’t know what to say. This was the strangest experience they had gone through during their voyage. In the waters of the New World, aside from the usual variety of pirates, there were also the three great Emperors of the Sea. Many pirates under the command of the Big Mom Pirates were also out there plundering supplies.

However, they typically did this outside of Big Mom’s Totto Land territory. Back then, when they were just roaming the sea, they were attacked by that pirate ship. Since their ship wasn’t large, the attacking ship didn’t fire its cannons but opted for a boarding battle instead.

But as soon as the pirates got close and were about to throw grappling hooks, they saw who was on the ship and their actions froze instantly.

The Beasts Pirates and the Big Mom Pirates weren’t strangers to each other; they knew quite a bit about each other’s officers. And especially considering that the person onboard was Kaido’s daughter, unlike Big Mom’s numerous children, the Beasts Pirates only had one.

Moreover, from the common knowledge among the Big Mom Pirates’ members, the captain’s children held a high status and were generally very strong.

From their perspective, if someone tried to steal their ship, regardless of the person’s identity, if they could defeat them, they would definitely kill them first and deal with the consequences later.

Now, they had encountered someone they absolutely couldn’t defeat— a monster that only the kingdom’s ministers could handle.

The good news was that they hadn’t attacked yet, so the people on the ship quickly thought of a good idea and turned their actions into a sea rescue, amiably offering all their supplies to Yamato.

With their “sincere” attitude, this matter was smoothly brushed over, which is why Yamato came to think there might be good people out there.

“Let’s wait a little longer. This is the main route for pirates entering the New World. If we wait, we’ll eventually find the right target.”

As she gazed at the empty sea, Yamato suddenly remembered something. If she wasn’t mistaken, Ulti and Page One had done something similar when they went out before, seemingly acting as bait.

They didn’t share the details, though. Page One refused to talk about what happened that day, while Ulti seemed to have kept it as her little secret, but Yamato thought it was worth referencing.

“Anyone willing to be the bait this time?”

Looking at the three beside her, Yamato decided to set up some bait as well. She realized that her reputation outside was quite high, making her too conspicuous to serve as bait.

“I’m a Devil Fruit User; it’s not ideal for me on the sea.”

“I have to steer the ship. It’s a bit old and needs constant attention.”

Speed and Solitaire gave their reasons in succession. While there wasn’t much danger in being bait here, they might encounter something strange along the way. Yamato’s strength was more than enough to protect them, but that was only the outcome. What happens during the process was uncertain.

With only four people on board, Mizerka, unable to find a reason to refuse, had no choice but to act as Yamato’s “bait.”

Yamato’s plan worked. After wasting another day, a group of kind-hearted pirates appeared again, contributing enough supplies for them to return to Wano Country. But they weren’t as lucky as the Big Mom Pirates.

Because they chose to open fire, their dreams were completely shattered in less than a month of entering the New World.

Ten days later than planned, Yamato and the others returned to Wano Country with the commemorative ship. At this point, she finally appreciated how wonderful the Beasts Pirates’ logistics were.

“Blisseeeey~?”

“Just a little mishap. If it weren’t for that storm, I would’ve been back much sooner.”

In the bathhouse of Onigashima, Yamato was comfortably soaking in the hot spring. Their ship had a shower facility, but it didn’t have the option to take a bath. Now, fully submerged in the hot water, she had a Blissey behind her, helping with her hair.

Floating on the water was a small boat carrying drinks and snacks, a stark contrast to just a few days ago.

After tidying up, Yamato changed into a fresh set of clothes and went to find Arceus to discuss her insights from the recent voyage.

“Did you feel the difference?”

“I felt it. Without logistical support, life outside is really tough.”

“Any new plans?”

“Yeah… I’ll work hard to become stronger and take down father as soon as possible. The future of the Beasts Pirates shouldn’t be like those lowly scum out on the seas. There should be a better way for us to live.”

This trip had opened her eyes to the hardships of the outside world, bringing some changes in her thinking. Although she was only seeing what was in front of her, this was already a significant improvement compared to her previous overly idealistic thoughts.

Kaido was the one most pleased with this response.

Even if Yamato’s goal was to defeat him, as long as she continued to grow stronger, he could accept that.

On the other side, the Flower Capital in Wano Country was filled with music and dance, with no signs of the great battle from years ago. The residents were living a decent life, with those in the Flower Capital being the high-income class of Wano, wealthier than the average person.

However, there were many more Pokémon in the streets and sky, along with some animals with Pokémon bloodlines, such as Little Kai’s offspring.

Today, Little Kai wasn’t in his dog house but was wandering outside, surveying its “kingdom.”

It was darting through the bushes, looking for something interesting.

After sliding down a slope, Little Kai discovered a strange fruit on the ground. The fruit resembled a pineapple, with symmetrical leaves at the top spreading outwards, each leaf ending in a triangular shape, like several snake heads.

The fruit’s outer skin had scale-like patterns. Finding this strange object, Little Kai carried it back home. Since transforming into a Growlithe, its intelligence had developed rapidly, and it knew that its master would be interested in this.

“Woof!”

Kojiro wasn’t around, but Little Kai managed to dial the Den Den Mushi in the dog house, successfully contacting Kojiro.

After confirming that he had found a new Devil Fruit, Kojiro immediately handed it over. After passing through several hands, the fruit was eventually brought to Queen to determine its specific type.

Upon comparison, Queen quickly identified the fruit.

It was Kaido’s favorite Zoan-type, and a rather rare Mythical Zoan at that: the Snake-Snake Fruit, Mythical Zoan, Model: Yamata no Orochi. After Orochi’s death more than ten years ago, the fruit once again appeared in Wano Country.
